Seth's surprised expression warped into one of indifference before the corner of his lips perked up, forming a smile devoid of emotions.
"Well... looks like you did it. I thought you found someone else since I covered most of my tracks, but looks like I was wrong," he said as he placed his hand in his pocket and took out a pack of cigarettes.
Ben stayed alert even though he had scanned him a few hours ago, but Seth didn't pull any stunts like he had expected.
"Why Seth? She was your sister and... and... she did nothing wrong! You paid for all of my medical bills until Sofia got a job, so why? Just why would you do something like that to your own sister?"
"So, you brought me here just to confront me..." Seth said lightly as he looked at him. "Can I borrow your lighter?"
Ben took out a lighter from the pocket of his jeans and got the flame going. "No. Give me that cig, yes hold it right there."
Once Seth had his cigarette lit, he took a long puff before exhaling. "Haaa... Ben, before I decided to help you out, my sister loved me the most. But then... for some reason, she decided to fall for you and even though you were a fucking bedridden piece of shit, she still chose you over me!
Do you know how betrayed I felt? Do you know how lost I felt? Of course you wouldn't!" he said as he punched the dashboard in front of him in anger, but Ben didn't move an inch, his pistol still pointing at the man who killed his girlfriend.
Seth could make out Ben's face from the dim light that came from the laptop screen and paused before clicking his tongue.
"Looks like you know more than what I thought you would," Seth said, the frustrated expression no longer on his face as he crushed the lit cigarette by balling his fist before letting it fall down near his feet.
"So? How much do you know, Ben? Just how much did you dig up on me and how much did you have to spend?" he asked, and the next moment, he felt like he was hit by a hammer as his head flew back, knocking against the window.
Ben clenched his jaw as he stared at the man in front of him, ignoring the pain in the hand that he had used to punch him.
"I'm the one asking questions here, Seth. I only want one-line answers, so listen carefully. I have nothing to look forward to in life at the moment, and I also know that you have really strong connections who have the capability to silence me if I try to take you to court. I will pull the trigger if you try to lie, Seth. I really will."
Seth pinched his nose to stop the blood but nodded in response to Ben, hoping to cool him down.
"Now, tell me why you persuaded Olivia to switch schools back then and tell me how you did it."
"You're someone who dated Sophia for quite a long time, so you should know. She looks so similar to my sister and I couldn't hold back, hekhekhekheeeee- cough. Hekhekhek..."
To Seth's surprise, Ben seemed a bit too calm as he stared at him without saying a word while his finger slowly pulled on the trigger.
*Bang*
"This sick fuck...." Ben muttered as he ran past the graves towards the center of the graveyard and away from the van where Seth was lying silently while bleeding.
He wasn't feeling well after acting upon his impulsive decision, but he continued to run, the steel mini-cannon in his hand weighing on him both mentally and physically. Once he got close to the center, he slowed down a little and took out his phone so he could access the cameras.
The large red ball was now gone, and he could see Olivia lying down a few meters away from the grave.
'Yes, the timing is perfect,' he thought as he sped up once again. From what he had seen in the past few months, she would always be exhausted after she was done with her witchcraft, so he wanted to strike when the time was right.
Never once did he expect to win against something so far off from what science could explain, not unless he managed to acquire a sniper, but unfortunately for him, they weren't easy to acquire.
Once she entered his view, he aimed his pistol at her from a few meters away. His eyes had gotten used to the dark, but he didn't have the ability to see over hundreds of meters when there was no light.
"I'm aiming my gun at you. If you move, I'll shoot," he said and saw her turn her head. Her eyeballs were pearly white without any black in them. At first, he felt like the thing in front of him was a zombie, but when he saw that she barely moved, he calmed his heart. The murder he committed a minute ago was forgotten as he focused on the present.
"Good," he said as he tried to keep his shivering hands in check. "I don't intend to harm you, but I need answers. As long as I get answers, I'll leave you alone to do whatever you want."
He waited as he stared at the girl in front of him, and a few seconds later, her lips parted.
"Ask."
"Who are you, and what are you doing in Olivia's body? I know that you aren't the Olivia that I know," he said, ready to pull the trigger if she moved even a single muscle in her body.
He saw her squint her eyes, but just when he expected her to do something supernatural, she spoke again.
"The soul that originally occupied this body has been absorbed by me to make my own soul strong. She would have died even if I did nothing," she said with a wide smile on her face, showing off her pearly white teeth.
Ben only wanted answers. The answers to whether he could bring his girlfriend back to life.
"If she's dead, then that's that," he said before he took a few steps sideways. "What I want to know is if you have a method to bring the dead back to life. Everything you've done is like magic, so there should be a way, right?"
"Ooooh, there is love in your eyes hehehehe," she chuckled. "No, I cannot do that. Her death was an accident, so her soul is currently with the person who created me. You will never be able to see her ag-"
*Bang*
"SHIT!! Which asshole- SETH?!!!" Ben cursed as he kicked a stone that was lying on the ground near him, and when he saw the man who shot the woman in front of him, he stood in place silently as he continued to stare at him.
"Cough cough. You bastard hahahahha, you wanted answers, didn't you?" Seth said with a wide grin on his face while he clenched the bullet wound in his upper abdomen area. He then tossed the pistol that was in his hand and fell backward, leaning against the tree behind him as he sat down.
Ben grit his teeth and turned to look at Olivia, who was lying beside him. There was a hole in her head, and he knew for sure that there was no way anyone could survive that.
He stared at her with his head hung low, the pistol that was in his hand falling down after a few seconds. Tears rolled down to his chin and dropped to the ground below. His knees gave in, and he kneeled down with a thump, not putting any effort into keeping himself up.
He slowly turned his head to look at Seth, who looked like he was out of time, and let out a sigh.
'I'll turn myself in tomorrow morning... there really isn't much I feel like doing anymore,' he thought as he turned back to look at the dead girl nearby, and that was when he noticed the gravestones glowing the brightest they had ever glowed in the past few months.
'Just what is going on.... I should probably leave this place first,' he thought and shook off the empty feeling in his heart. With considerable effort, he stood back up and began to walk away, but suddenly, he felt a stinging pain in his torso.
He looked down to check if he had a bruise, but the only thing that greeted his eyes was Olivia's smiling face staring at him while her head emerged out of his now bleeding torso.
Time seemed to pass extremely slowly for Ben at this point, and as he stared at Olivia's face and his physical state, he came to a conclusion that this was the end for him.
'Oh well... I wonder how I'm still standing when my spine is broken...'
