"Sir, a cabin costs two hundred per day, so you can only get one for the night with this amount," said the girl behind the counter, making Liam stare at her for a whole three seconds in silence before he came back to his senses.
Hurriedly, he nodded, "Yeah, that'll be fine. Thank you. An old man at the beach told me that it only costs fifty for an entire day, so I was a little shocked with the sudden increase in price from what I expected."
"Oh, him... if you're talking about the shopkeeper then, since he recommended this place to you, we will offer you a discount. There are two types of cabins: one is the premium one which costs five hundred a day including three meals, while the normal one costs two hundred but there will be no meals provided if you take this one.
But specifically for you, we can bring down the cost of the premium one to two hundred and the normal one to fifty," she said and pushed a metal card towards him before she continued speaking.
"As long as you don't lose this card, you should be able to avail the discounts. Congratulations on becoming a silver card holder!" she said excitedly as he picked the card up from the counter.
The moment he touched the card, he felt the phone in his pocket vibrate but he didn't check what it was as he didn't want to make things look unnatural. Instead, he thanked the girl and got the normal cabin for a day before walking up to the first floor.
It didn't take him long to find his cabin, and once he did, he walked in and locked the door from inside before checking his phone. He knew that there were no contacts on his phone so he wanted to know why the phone let out a vibration all of a sudden.
Once the screen's light hit his face, he opened his inbox and saw a message which brought a smile on his face.
"To think that getting a silver membership card would give me access to a character creation card... never expected it to be that easy," he muttered and then remembered the conditions to be able to get a card, which was to achieve a great feat.
'Is this place some kind of special place or something?' he thought as he pulled out the silver card that he had placed in his pocket a few minutes ago and stared at it for a few seconds, 'Looks like a normal card made of some kind of metal but I guess I'll have to look into this internet cafe in the future.'
He put the card back in his pocket and looked at the small room that he was given. There was a computer, a really small bed, and a normal chair with wheels.
Sitting down on the chair, he placed his phone on the table and kept it standing using the monitor as a support before opening the camera. He turned the video recording on and closed his eyes once again, this time going back to his main body and the only thing he felt was a little nausea and a slight headache.
It took him a minute to feel a little better and once he did, he realized that he could recall and remember everything that the body did when he was using the avatar. Feeling a little confused due to the situation, he checked the recording on the phone.
A second after he closed his eyes, his body opened them and stood up from the bed before pacing around the room for a while and then sat in front of the phone and stared at it for a few seconds.
"Oh.... yeah even I am confused about what is going on but looks like I am a copy of your consciousness and I have all of your memories too. So I'm most probably your soul's clone. All I know is that I'm not the real one and other than that I don't know much.
Considering the fact that the phone is recording a video of the room, I can say that this was done to check what would happen when you swap to your avatar just like the unfamiliar memories that are in my head right now.
Anyways, I'm going to take a nap so do your thing and come back. I'll probably switch to the avatar's body when you come to this one though."
Like Liam had seen in his memories, the video had the same content but in a different perspective. His memories gave him a feeling that the stuff that happened in the hotel room was something that actually happened with him.
It was a weird feeling but it gave him a sense of satisfaction.
"It's way better than having a body inactive when I switch from one to another so this is a good thing. If it's a clone of my consciousness and memories, then that's just a bonus as I don't have to leave instructions or worry about the stuff that might happen if it was someone else's soul or if it was some kind of AI controlling the bodies," he muttered to himself as he deleted the video and tossed the phone onto his bed.
The first thing he did was to open up all drawers that the table had and checked the inner contents, only to find a wallet. Inside the wallet was his ID that was similar to the one that his avatar had and then there were two more cards.
One of them was a neutrality pass that allowed a person to move to different planets as long as they were neutral planets, and it was only given to the people who passed the neutrality exams. There were many factions and most of the planets were under these factions so there was quite a bit of enmity and racism between these factions.
Neutral planets allowed people from various factions to reside on them so to keep the fighting and other issues in check, a thorough test would be taken to make sure that the people would be open-minded and kind towards the people of other factions.
The other card that he found was his debit card that was no longer valid as he had moved away from his home planet a week ago to the one he was currently in.
"Looks like I need to make another bank account for this one."
