Liam read the little information he was provided and then proceeded to read the contents below the stuff he had just read. It was written in a bright silver so it was hard for him to miss it.
[Randomization complete. The owner of the Avatar Creator will forcibly be sent out of this room after 5 minutes. You can only access this room under special circumstances or when you manage to procure another Avatar creation card, which you can get by achieving a great feat. The grade of the card will depend on the greatness of your actions. You can switch bodies on command.]
Liam read the contents on the screen multiple times as he wanted to memorize it since he knew that he would not be able to come back here soon and since there wasn't much to memorize, he was done in just a minute or two.
He readily willed for himself to go back to his body, and the moment he thought of it, it happened. The surroundings changed from the small dark room to a well-lit and spacious hotel room that he was previously in.
The first thing he did was look around and then pulled out his phone from his pocket before he searched for information on Helix.
After doing his research for an hour, he let out a sigh and smiled to himself, "Whew, it's a good thing that it's a part of Helix since that body has no talent for genetic mutation nor synergy with body suits."
Helix was one of the three main human factions that focused on gaining powers through serums, which enhanced a person's speed, strength, and stamina by different margins based on the serums that were used. He already knew about Helix due to the memory transfer, but he just wanted to crosscheck.
Pacing around the room with his phone in his hand, he muttered to himself, "Just what is going to happen when I switch bodies...."
He continued to pace around the room for a while, and with a frustrated sigh, he stopped and opened up the camera on his phone before placing it in such a way that the camera could record most of the room. He nodded to himself and sat on his bed before closing his eyes.
Once again, the surroundings changed, and this time he found himself lying on the beach. The dark sky was beautiful, but there was no moon to give him any light.
He sat up, and the first thing he did was to check if he had clothes on. Once he made sure that he wasn't exposing himself, he checked his pockets to find a wallet and a smartphone. Inside the wallet was a single ID which had his avatar's information on it, and other than that, the wallet was completely empty.
As for the phone, after messing around with it for a few minutes, he could tell that it was a regular phone that could make calls and use various apps.
"So I'm broke.... and I have no degree either. How am I even supposed to get a job... As far as I know, I will need to take a test to get the Super Human pass or whatever and to pass that test, I'll have to get a serum of decent quality... where do I even start..." he said out loud as he put his phone back into his pocket before standing up.
"The only way I can start my journey here without getting involved in serious crimes is by transferring the money that my main body has and using it to jumpstart my life as a human with super strength and whatnot. As long as I'm able to find a way to make money in a few weeks, the investment right now will be worthwhile. I also need to find out which planet I'm at right now. After all... my main body was from one of the planets under Helix jurisdiction," he thought as he walked towards a store nearby since it had its lights on.
Once he was close enough, he could tell that it was a small store that only sold a few items. It was like a smaller version of BallMart back on Earth. He simply walked inside, and like he had expected, there were no customers inside. Only the cashier was inside, and the man silently looked at him like he was judging him.
"Um, hello. Do you know of a place where I can stay a night for free?" he asked, expecting the man to say no or be rude to him.
The man shook his head slowly, "No place for free here."
'Just what was I expecting...' Liam thought, but to his surprise, the man pulled out the cash counter and picked up a bill before placing it on the table.
Liam said nothing and simply watched until the man gave him an irritated look, "Come and take! Youngsters these days can't appreciate kindness, hmph. Go straight from here and follow the main road until you find an internet cafe. You can stay there for cheap. When I was young, that place was my home for more than ten years!"
Looking at the proud-looking man who was reminiscing about his past, Liam nodded hastily and picked up the bill that had a 100 printed on it.
"This hundred Rudo should be enough for you to stay there for two whole days, but if it's just nights, it will cost you five Rudo per hour. So, depending on the amount of time you want to stay there, pick the options wisely. Only people who used to stay there for a long time like me would know about the secrets, so you should be thanking me, young man."
Liam humbly nodded and thanked the old man once again before he left the store and followed the given directions. It took him half an hour of walking, but he could clearly tell that he was at the right place as a lot of people were playing games, their computer screens bright with various colors.
Relieved that he was at the right place, he walked towards the reception and placed the bill on the table before speaking, "I'd like to book a cabin for a day, please."
