Chapter 38 - Minions assemble

I don't want to go, I don't want to go, I don't want to go. I kept repeating in my mind as I got dressed, and as I got in the carriage, as we rode to my destination, and as I got down. I didn't want to, but I had to if I wanted to end this in a favorable way.

A maid showed me the way to the room where the 'gathering' was being held, I stood at the door and took a deep breath, I still wasn't feeling healthy enough for soliciting, but I had to.

"Lady Roseanne, welcome," Jupiter said as I walked in, I was the last to arrive luckily. I looked at my fellow minions, they were mostly girls that I don't know or don't remember, either way they were stranger, except Batch.

"Everyone, please lets introduce ourselves, I may not know everyone well because I was away for so long, but I want to be friends and get to know you well," Jupiter said, but she sounded like a pervert in my ears. I'm sure she knows every lady here down to what they eat every day that's why she chose us, Jupiter might be foolish, but she's discreet, I'll give her that.

Everyone introduced themselves, including Batch, we were seven ladies including myself, that passed the first minion exam.

"I'm Roseanne Percando," I said briefly patting Poppy's head, he already made my lap a cushion. I really envied Poppy to be able to sleep anywhere and everywhere.

"Umm… what do you like? Your hobbies?" one of the ladies asked. I like eating, sleeping and annoying Poppy, thank you very much. I wanted to say that, but I sighed and looked at her saying,

"I think I've provided enough information." She shrank back in her seat and looked down. I'm sorry, I have to be a bitch.

When the tea was served it was like my mood changed, I smiled inwardly at the cake feeling excited to taste it. Even if its poisoned I'll rather eat it than continue this 'gathering'. The ladies were chatting about whatever it was they were chatting about, my eyes were on the clock at the other side of the room. I was watching to see how long I'd have to stay, once in a while I'll say a word or hum.

When it finally ended I was the first to stand up, I have no interest in girls' unnecessary gossips that just feeds Jupiter's information bank.

"Thank you all for coming, I'll like to hold something like this again, it was so nice today I wish it didn't have to end," our host said. Did she say she didn't want it to end? I knew you were evil, but this is taking it too far. "I'll like to hold something similar to this, if you're okay with it," she said and the stupid minions nodded in excitement. "That's great, then I'd send invitations when I'm ready," Jupiter finished and the ladies grinned from ear to ear like kids that were offered candy, just that in this case the candy is a bait from a pervert.

"Thank you for having me, Lady Jupiter, and it was nice knowing you, ladies," I said, although I certainly did not remember their names. I walked out carrying Poppy, and feeling excited that it was finally over.

"Poppy, are you alive?" I asked but got no response. "Poppy," I called feeling frightened, he moved a bit in response, I sighed in relief as I got in the carriage. "We're going to the magic tower," I told the coachman as he was closing the door. I need to figure out what's wrong with Poppy before it gets any worse, I hope Ryle would be willing to help me.

The security was poor for a magic tower, I expected a million checkpoints, but there was none, not even one. For one of the most important buildings they didn't even put an effort, it was absurd then again it's filled with overpowered maniac, who would dare go in with ill intentions. I want to go home.

I walked to a tall gate and thought of knocking, but it opened, I walked the long distance to the tallest building that I assumed to be the main building. I knocked on the door, and it opened, do they just let anyone in? There was no one on the other side, so I walked in looking around, I expected spooky with skeletons hanging on the wall, but I got normal, clean and no skeletons. I felt like a lost kid in a crowded area, confused.

"Who are you?" I jumped in fear and took steps away from the voice before confirming who it was.

"Gosh, you scared me," I said holding my chest.

"Is this time to act nonchalantly?" The man said.

"Yo, Leed, who's that?" another man came with a girl who was holding a staff, I didn't forget to make a mental note that mages are hot.

"I don't know," the person who was called Leed replied.

"Are you a mage?"

"No, I am actually looking for a mage," I replied.

"How did you tame a dragon?" Leed asked looking at Poppy who was on my head.

"I didn't, I'm actually here because…" I didn't finish my statement before another person interrupted my statement again. Do all mages have problem with listening to people?

"Who gave you the dragon? How did they separate a young dragon from its mother?"

"You look well off so you can afford an arch mage," Leed said.

"If you are a noble better leave, our master doesn't like nobles, he won't be pleased to see her here," the girl finally spoke.

"About that…," I tried speaking again but was interrupted.

"That's true," the other man said.

"Okay, time to go," Leed said pushing me towards the door. What is wrong with these mages?

"My name is Rose, and I'm here to see your master, my dragon is sick, and I thought he'd be able to help since he has one too. And when someone visits you, find out why they visited before you start blabbering or kicking them out," I shouted feeling fed up. I am too sick for this.

Leed and the other guy looked frightened and shocked, I know I can be scary but aren't they overreacting?

"Why do you look like that?" I asked.

"What are you doing here?" I heard Ryle's voice from behind me. I'm turned around but forgot to take my breath with me. Why is there a wet haired Ryle with unbuttoned shirt in front of me? My poor eyes can't stop staring.
