Chereads / Pointless Vindication / Chapter 4 - 4.) Aquosis Academy

Chapter 4 - 4.) Aquosis Academy

Waking up I looked around at the dark alleyway we were still in and at the flies which loomed over me and Zenith's head.

Swatting the flies over Zenith's head away I proceed to wake her up.

*****

Leaving the alleyway me and Zenith walked through the city hand and hand as we headed towards the huge castle-like structure near the middle of the empire city.

That castle was more prominently known as the Aquosis Academy. The place known to raise heroes of the new generation to ward off the demon's who had been building up their forces for the past decades.

The demons in the past wars were described as having around 10 separate but almost equally powered demon kings who all ruled their own territories and had been given names based on their feats.

The one demon, and only, demon I had heard of the most was the Demon Queen of Agony hailed as the strongest demon king in history who got her name by ,well, causing agony upon anyone who stood in her way.

But those were tales which had been created long ago because she had apparently disappeared around 15 years ago.

Halting my thoughts as I reached the long line of people who hoped to enter the Aquosis Academy.

Me and Zenith hopped into the back of the line and waited until we would be the next ones up but that didn't seem like it'd happen anytime soon as the line moved at a sluggish pace even with three reception desks which all their let people in or rejected them.

The difference between me and Zenith against everyone else in this line is that they all would be fine if they were to be rejected from this academy, but if me and Zenith are rejected then we'll have to sleep and live in a dark back alleyway for the rest of our lives.

That's obvious just by looking around. Most of the people in this line have pristine and clean clothes with spotless weapons but me and Zenith all we have are these dirty clothes and our fists.

That's why we have to pass this no matter what.

******** After multiple hours passed *********

It was finally our turn to decide whether we'd be able to get into the academy.

Looking at us with disdain, the man sitting at the desk with a spherical object ,which glowed a faint blue, leaned forward and said:

"We don't allow untalented rats like you two into this prestigious academy when all you do is dirty it's fame."

The man pointed his finger at us.

"But you haven't even seen our talent yet."

Zenith looked at the man questioning his unreasonable reasoning.

"Do I really have to."

The man stubbornly said, still not changing his mind.

"At least let us try and then see if we're useless or not."

I replied.

"Hum."

Leaning back in his chair the man closed his eyes as if inviting one of us to prove him wrong.

Zenith's hand slipped away from mine as she ran up to the crystal ball and put both her tiny and petite hands on the crystal ball.

Opening one eyes the man scoffed at Zenith as the ball hadn't reacted at all.

Until the ball exploded in a radiant array of glowing gold light as bright as the sun and just as blinding as it.

Once the light died down the entire line of people next to us and behind us looked at Zenith whose head was barely above the desk.

"So I pass?"

Zenith asked with a snakes smile on her face.

"Cough, Yes you are talented enough. You are extremely talented in divine magic/ holy powers."

"I guess I'm next then."

I walked closer to the ball after Zenith finished.

Touching the crystal ball with both hands I waited for what would happen.

All the eyes which Zenith had garnered were now focused on me as everyone wondered if two god-like talents had just appeared out of nowhere.

 "...."

"...."

Silence befell the world as the crystal ball didn't change one bit.

Losing their attention as the ball hadn't reacted for the past 20 seconds.

"Huu, I thought I had just got on the bad side of two up and coming prodigies but it seems I only got on the bad side of one prodigy and one useless girl."

The man seated behind the desk let out a sigh of relief.

A black mass formed in the crystal ball as it started to absorb all the shadows created by the light around until the black void-like mass within then ball seemed like it was about to consume the world before it abruptly shrunk down into nothingness.

"Extremely high talent in anti-magic !?!!"

A voice rang out as the scene of my talent measurement ended.

"Y-y-you.. I'm sorry for your loss."

The man stood from his seat and then bowed at me.

"Huh... Did I pass?"

"Yes, both of you are extremely talented, so both of you are allowed in."

"Ok."

I started to walk towards Zenith but as I passed by the desk a voice spoke out.

"I wish you good luck."

Turning around I saw that the entire line of people were gazing at me some with a look of sadness, and some with a look of hopefulness.

Not understanding their looks at turned around and walked into the academy with Zenith.

"Tell the Holy Sanction a demon child is holding an angel." Unknown Voice

"Yes." Unknown Voice

Little did I know the reason ,why all the people looked at me with some type of sad face, was already starting to kick in.

Walking with Zenith in the walls of the castle-like structure of the academy we were met with a large garden area with thousands of people everywhere.

Sitting in an open area the expansive grass garden Zenith and I waited for the true first entrance exam for the Aquosis academy to begin.

Whilst waiting for the darn entrance ceremony/exam to begin Zenith, like usual, fell asleep and told me to wake her up when the exam began.
