Chapter 5 - Dungeon

It was an odd sensation. It kinda felt like a feverish rush of temperature in the body. But it didn't bring discomfort, and it only seemed to breed out from inside his face.

From the concaved part of his face that he hadn't realised was out of shape.

Even Myaz was pretending to ignore it because of its horrendous nature.

But quickly, the odd bend that could only be possible inside a metal began to pop out as though applied heat upon a bent metal plate and began to take its original shape.

All this happened without even Byan realising he had gotten injured.

[1 Mana has been depleted.]

"Oy-yee! Is my s-kill broken? It a-a-activated on its ow-nn." Byan grumbled, dumbfounded.

Myaz stared at his healing wounds and suddenly realised, "You don't feel pain, do you? So you didn't realise you had gotten injured."

She thought for a second to herself before nodding, "Yep... we may just be able to make this work." Her heart fluttered delicately like a petal being caressed by a finger.

Under her influence, the ring on her right-hand's index finger shot up with a sheen that began to swell.

The light then materialised into what looked a small trinket in her hand. It happened in less than a second.

She ogled it with a zealous sheen in her eyes. Then she met into Byan's eyes, "This is our ticket, can be... May be... to win ourselves a way out."

"H-hoh?" Byan gulped, not really getting what she did but still excited. 'There's so, so much more for me to learn!'

"This little gadget, it reacts to the high density mana in the surroundings. I don't know what it's really used for... but in an environment such as ours, we may just be able to find ourselves a dungeon nearby using it." Her eyes thinned alongside her stretching lips.

"A-and what would th-at do?" Byan would've been flashing a puppy face had his face not been so horrifying that even puppies wouldn't dare approach it.

"That wouldn't have done anything before... but maybe, it just can do something now." She smiled and turned the knob that resembled a clock's dial.

With a click, a pulsating wave throbbed out of the device. Byan could barely see it because of him expecting something.

It spread out like a sphere from all around the device and rapidly expanded. Passing through him before vanishing in the jungle.

In a few seconds, a holographic arrow popped up on the device that pointed to the left.

Byan and Myaz found their eyes to meet. "How are you su-re this i-i-s really a dunge-on?"

"I am not." She grinned, her face didn't show the embarrassment she was trying to feign.

"But dungeons are rich in mana... due to them being stuffed with monsters and their own trait of forming in mana rich places. But all this doesn't guarantee that we really would find a dungeon. We may potentially end up in a completely bizarre new predicament."

Byan shook his head, 'She's gutsy on top of zesty.'

"Let's go." Myaz took the lead, her pace slowed considerably.

'Now that I think about it...' Myaz felt her pores shivering out of her skin, 'I haven't seen a single monster in this jungle either. Is this place really so normal?'

Her face turned bitter, 'But of course, in this world... normal is more creepy than abnormal.'

With constant fear of their chasers catching up hurrying her pace, and a hope that had broadened the borders of her mind, the two soon found the place the device had located.

It was concealed heavily by the jungle's layout. They would've missed it entirely had not been for the device's guidance.

It was a large stone covered in moss and eroded slightly. The fun thing was that it had been concealed beneath the droopy, thick and expanding leafy branches of a large tree.

"This rock?" Byan groaned, before chuckling, "Guess th-at device is b-broken."

Myaz gave him a blank glare. "You... I don't know what you had in mind... but I can easily say you are mistaken."

She paused, before asking, "What do you think are dungeons?"

Byan stared at her blankly before thinking aloud, "I d-don't really have a reference to base my thoug-hts upon b-but... a secret, dangerous place with l-lots of bizza-are creatures?"

Myaz grounded her teeth on her lip, "You are right but... I know you aren't!!" Her fingers stretched and twitched awkwardly from irritation and annoyance. Her eyes thinning into the edge of a blade that glinted toward Byan.

'What did I do wrong?' Byan groaned.

"Listen, dungeons are bizarre places, bizzare in the sense that they are beyond comprehension." She pointed at the rock, "Do you see any monsters?"

Byan fumbled before shaking his head.

"Exactly, if I say this I a dungeon would you then believe it?"

The hairless flesh of Byan's forehead creased down as he put pressure on his brain. But he soon shook his head.

"So swallow this... this is a dungeon!" Myaz flashed her bright teeth.

Byan's jaw slackened, his eyes tugged fully to take in the sight in front of him. 'So beautiful.'

His heart clashed against his ribcage, wanting to break out and scummb to that smile wholly.

"So.... amazing." Byan muttered dumbly.

Myaz nodded, "I know right? The thing is, dungeons are bizzare supernatural structures or objects that encompass monsters and whatnot inside.

"My plan is, because your level is so low and you already have 11 prowess, maybe we can make you strong enough to tackle a Venator or two if you grind some levels in this dungeon."

Byan smiled, 'So simple and easy to understand... but is it though?'

"Listen," Myaz swallowed and stepped closer, reading his almost unnerving face, "Levelling up from your level is very easy, and each level definitely increases your prowess."

Seeing that she wasn't winning him much, she sighed and balled her fists, "Just trust me! Let's go in."

Byan shook his head and followed behind her as she pulled the heavy branches aside and reached the stone.

Another pair of arms joined in her aid as Byan stepped right behind her, allowing her to maneuver behind their canopy.

She held them off alongside him as he pushed through the heavy blockage of leaves and branches.

This was the first time the two had been so close, and Myaz couldn't help but shut her eyes while sucking her breath a stop.

Seeing her strange gesture, Byan curiously wondered before quickly realising and giving his soft, loose rotten flesh a wry smile.

'Maaannn.... I quickly want to be rid of this flesh.' Byan grumbled internally while giving her some space.

Myaz again gave him an odd glance, 'He truly is different from an ordinary undead, just who is he?'

Shaking her head, she stared at the stone, or the face that was carved into it.

"This is going to be a trip," She beckoned him over while touching the stone's rugged and bristly surface.

As Byan touched the stone, he felt his mind begin to expand. Not literally, but as though its borders were stretching.

He felt as though he could see everything, but it was a mere illusion of the sense that was guiding his consciousness inside the stone.

At first it was pleasing, then it brought pain as though it would rip his mind apart.

Admits this whirlwind of pain and cries, his body had vanished alongside Myaz's into the stone barely five times his mass.
