Adam readied himself for a fight, his forehead slick with sweat. He nodded at Crystal and she took Esme from his body, carrying her inside the inner part of the cave where the noise wasn't meant to reach.
"Don't panic, you've been trained for this," Gilgamesh said as a way of giving a pep talk, even if it wasn't needed. He tried to hug Cincinnati but her scythe appeared from nowhere, inches away from his throat.
"Don't push your luck, you might not get off with just a warning next time," she wasn't fucking around, and Gilgamesh stepped back, swallowing whatever retort that was on the top of his tongue.
"They're here," Darkus brought everybody back to the present, as they took different martial art stances.
"S, are you with me?" Adam asked in a low tone.
