Chapter 59 - The Mother Of Webs Has Risen

"How… How many times have you met the Grim Reaper? Because if it's more than once you might want to consider a career change…" suggested the Felidae, heavily judging the rabbit.

"Not important!" snapped Matt.

"I still stand by my suggestion… I am forcibly bound to this realm by body not by soul since that can't be done unless you've got the powers of a Primordial God. Thus, destroying the vessel I have now can be one of the ways to release me."

"Do you even have a soul?" asked Matt, without thinking.

"Hey!" protested the Ankou, sounding offended.

"We're trying to set the Grim Reaper free, not bully him into submission... But still, that request from us is nigh impossible…"

"Teemo's right; we were barely able to beat you earlier and you want us to destroy you?"

"Do you happen to have any suggestions then?" quizzed the Ankou as he lost a bit of his temper.

The cat and rabbit looked at each other and shook their heads. Before they could continue, the entire place started to shake like mad.

All three summoned up their weapons and dashed off in different directions, with Teemo heading to his room to gear up and the other two towards Layla.

"Are we getting attacked?" asked a sleepy Dragoon as the Ankou quickly scooped her up and out of the bed.

"We've got no clue but we have to get out… Because whatever is making that shaking is coming from the ground up and to us," explained the Loplin as he donned his gear.

They then ran out and met the Felidae in the corridor.

"I can teleport us…" said the Ankou as he prepared to move the group.

"Wait! How sure are you that something is coming up?" asked the Dragoon, as she transformed back to her normal form.

"Very sure so let's go! Trust me on this because-"

Before Matt could finish, another quake came, this time stronger than the earlier one.

"Emergency shift then!" yelled Sander as he shifted the group to another location.

"You've transported us back to the cave?" asked the Felidae as he crashed into a rock.

"No choice, it's all I've got in my head…"

The Ankou's voice trailed off as he figured something was not right…

"What's wrong, Sander?" asked Layla, concerned.

She then yelped and fell to her knees, prompting the rabbit to rush towards her. Matt's eyes widened as the girl's scales turned grayish-blue again with those roots sneaking up from her ankle.

"The Brine King… He is… He wants to warn us again… Ow…" mumbled the Dragoon, trying her best to remain awake.

"Let him speak, Layla. It's fine," instructed the Ankou as he rushed towards Layla.

The Dragoon nodded and took in a deep breath, allowing the Brine King to fully take over. She then drew up to full height as if she was being puppeteered. Her eyes flew open, revealing two teal eyes.

"She is here. The Mother of Webs is here… She has risen and will terrorize the Campania if we don't stop her," said the Brine King, using Layla's voice.

"Oi, cat boy! Where did you say Aegis Lake was?" asked the Loplin as he loaded up his gun.

The Felidae's heart dropped when he remembered that Aegis Lake was created for the reason of allowing cave explorers to have a fresh body of water to hydrate.

Before anyone could react, the cave walls came crashing down, revealing a huge black spider with pulsating purple veins and the upper body of a woman from where the head should've been.

The woman had similar features to its spider body, with two fang-shaped large horns on each side of her head. Her teeth were razor sharp as she howled, revealing a small smoke of green poison on her pointed tongue.

Her eyes were black and she had no hair. She also had four, spider arms that were dripping in pure poison. She then decided it was time to put the group's lives on hold permanently and rampaged towards them.

"Why the hell is she not in her temple?!" shouted the Loplin, as he started firing rounds at the legs, causing the beast to scream.

"How should I know?! I'm not the one who writes the scripts!" yelled the Felidae, as he rushed towards the spider with his oversized blade.

"Layla isn't geared up enough to fight the Mother of Webs, so we can't let her be in harm's way!" shouted Teemo as he clashed with a leg at full power.

But the cat's eyes widened as he realized sparks were appearing when his blade touched the leg.

"Crap... Even with everything I've got, I can't cut through her flesh?!" exclaimed Teemo, as he pushed forward, only to have the giantess shake him away.
