Chapter 60 - Against Arakaali

"Who do you think I am? Even if I don't have my original body, I am still the King of Brine Kingdom... Do not underestimate me or my people..." announced the Brine King as he used the Dragoon's body to prepare for battle.

"And rest assured, both of us are in tune. I'm not being forced to conform to his soul or anything. Now then, let's have some fun," continued Layla, smiling while taking out her scythe.

The Dragoon's appearance remained largely the same but now her hair had aquamarine highlights with her scales flickering between grayish blue and violet purple. But what truly scared the rabbit was her eyes, which had changed after the two souls had mixed.

One of her eyes had reverted to normal but the left one had changed from teal to blue with a bright green eye ring.

Her attire had also changed from a normal black long dress to an aqua-themed armor, made out of a dirty blue chest and shoulder plates while having a matching color armor skirt. Her boots were now knee-high blue with purple wings on the ankles.

The girl twirled her weapon around, which had blue streams of Elemental Energy surrounding its blade. And speaking about Elemental Energy... The girl was now putting out three times as much power as before.

The Ankou smirked as he resumed a battle stance to get ready to go against the Mother of Webs. His Elemental Aura came into full blossom, as a huge illusion of a black and blue skull formed behind his body.

"I never thought that I'd fight alongside you instead of against you but here we are..." complained the Brine King.

"Me neither... And certainly not against a giantess of a spider. Shall we put an end to her quickly before she makes us her meals?" asked the Ankou, pointing the blade right at the spider.

"Alright, but don't fall behind now!" shouted the Brine King as he leaped towards the beast.

"Says the one using a Dragoon's body!" yelled back Sander as he rushed in from the ground level.

Meanwhile, the Loplin and Felidae were trying their best to at least wound the creature but had no luck even scratching her surface. The rabbit was getting slightly tilted as he invoked the power of Ifrit into his gun and proceeded to rain hell on the arachnid.

Matt dodged another swing from the spider's leg and jumped up on another, using it like a platform to launch himself higher than Arakaali. With a quick smack on the gun, the rabbit aimed in the general direction of the spider's upper body.

"Oh no, you won't!" shouted the Felidae as he tried to drag the monster's attention away from the Loplin.

Unfortunately, the spider's defense was much stronger than his blade and so one leg was enough to stop the heavy-armoured cat. Arakaali was about to shoot her poison breath onto the airborne rabbit when the Dragoon showed up in her vision.

"No way I'll be beaten by the likes of you, Eight-legged freak!" yelled the Brine King alongside Layla's voice as they held up their scythe.

"Fluid Waves..." chanted Layla.

"Turning Tides!" finished the Brine King as they controlled their body to cut off both Arakaali's upper arms.

Unlike the wounds that the cat or rabbit had inflicted, the Mother of Webs howled in pain as the water that touched her skin from the Dragoon's spell started to burn her. Matt smiled as he now had the perfect chance.

"Split the fiery gates and launch the assault! Let your fury rain judgment on those who trespass! Set your eyes ablaze, forsee this glory! Sacred Embers; Ifrit's Rain!" shouted the Loplin as his gun burst into amber flames and shot out a giant ball of fire.

Matt then landed safely on the other side of the enemy, running back to not get hit by any physical attacks. The orb of flames exploded into an enormous shower of mini flames, raining upon the screaming spider's upper body like a hailstorm.

With bright flashes hindering her sight, Arakaali started to thrash about, causing the cave to start falling apart. With one asset hindered the group can truly go on the attack.

But the Mother of Webs wasn't the type to panic for long as she found a way to calm down and rely on her other senses to take the group down. And with the Loplin the only one having a weapon that produces sound, the spider made a beeline towards him.

However, Matt continued firing away as if he knew nothing was going to happen to him. He had to rely on trusting his teammates as right now, the Loplin was the only one who could blind the beast while also doing proper damage at a distance.
