Chapter 44 - Many Ores, Happy Cat

"Hm? Did something scare you?" asked the smiling cat.

"No, I've just realized something I could do to help and you won't have to do anything," answered Layla, with an excited smile

"What's your plan, Layla?" quizzed Matt.

"Both of you might want to take a few steps back, I haven't done this for a long while now so I might overdo it," instructed Layla as she extended her arm outwards with her palm facing a wall.

"What's the girl doing?" asked the cat as he tilted his head.

"I have no clue… But I think we might want to back a few steps before we get in the way of the blast," said the Loplin, pulling the Felidae away.

The Dragoon's stance looked formidable as the air around her started to fluctuate. It was as if everything was still and silent for a Tock before Layla took a deep breath.

Soon, ribbons of blue Water Elemental Energy danced around the girl's figure, converging into her opened palms. Her tail was now gone and her hands morphed into indigo-scaled talons.

"I never thought that she could pull off Magecraft without using her scythe," said Matt as he stared at the Dragoon.

Before Teemo could answer, the bundle of Water Elemental Energy in Layla's palms shot out and slammed into the wall. The place exploded, causing the place to quake and rocks to fly everywhere.

Once the dust settled, the Dragoon wasted no time in heading past the giant hole in the wall to set off another explosion. Matt and Teemo rushed towards her before the girl went overboard.

"If she continues doing that, the cave might collapse…" warned Teemo,

Matt wanted to say something but was halted by what lay before him. The two males couldn't believe it; the girl had blown through 3 floors down!

"I told you… I'm most likely going to overdo the task. Dragoons are very bad at handling their firepower," said Layla, with her talons changing back to hands.

"Yea, no kidding… But look at the abundance of materials here! There's even Amelist!" exclaimed Teemo, happily rushing towards the open space.

"What's Amelist?" asked Layla, tugging on the rabbit's sleeves.

"It's a deep purple Crystal with red hues that's great for armor. In small terms from what my brain can muster up now is that Amelist is great for converting Dark Elemental Energy to strengthen the armor's defense," elaborated Matt.

"If done properly and with another material's help, it could even reflect an attack," added the Felidae.

The happy cat started gathering Ores with some tools while the Loplin got to work using his Fire Element to break down rocks. The cave was home to many different Elemental Ores, and now the floor was mostly Grade 8.

However, the rabbit was starting to feel sluggish after breaking down so many large boulders. Meanwhile, the Dragoon had nothing to do and decided to spread her wings to fly around, to see if she could get some rare loot on her own.

The girl eventually flew down after 15 Tocks to unload the bounty she had on her; which were a couple of Ores and a few other materials that looked shiny. Layla then saw how drained the rabbit was and quickly rushed over to his side.

"Here; I've got something that might help. It's a drink that I used to give my workers when they were running out of energy during the workday. It can also restore Elemental Energy to a certain extent," offered Layla as she gave the rabbit a water bottle.

"I didn't know you were a potion creator as well?" asked Teemo as the poor fella engulfed the supply.

"I create concoctions using materials I can gather around me. That's the whole idea of my shop, I make drinks for people to be happy and have fun."

"Alcohol is great but it can only do so much so my partner and I used to head to the fields to get some herbs and I do the distilling to make new ingredients," explained Layla, facing Teemo.

Matt stopped drinking while Teemo froze in his spot.

"You've got a partner?" chimed the two males.

"Business partner. I've already passed on the shop to him and his girlfriend so that they've got a place to live in and a money-making machine for their planned parenthood. What were you both thinking?" questioned Layla, looking at the two guilty males.

Just as the two sighed with relief, the Dragoon summoned her scythe and turned around to point her weapon forward. The two males followed suit, with the area starting to kick up with an unfamiliar feeling.

"We don't intend for a fight amongst the loot around here, so you can leave us alone," commanded Teemo as he moved past the duo to form a protective stance.
