Chapter 47 - Ultimatum

"We use it to our advantage!" shouted the Dragoon as her eyes flew open.

The enemy tried to attack but his body was stuck, as if something invisible was holding him in place. Upon closer inspection, the Dragfilla realized that small ribbons of Water Elemental Energy were holding him in place. Layla then hopped backward and released the enemy.

"You are one confusing girl… You don't seem to be the type to fight in wars but you know combat to a certain degree."

"And you don't strike me as a Caster since you are well-versed in your scythe and yet you've found a loophole for Water Magecraft," said the Dragfilla, as he placed his scythe over his shoulder.

"Loophole? I thought all Dragoons knew how to manipulate the Water Element from the air to their advantage?" asked the Loplin as he inched closer.

"Oi, if that were the case don't you think we would be very dehydrated right about now?" asked Teemo, jabbing the bunny at the side.

"How should I know?! I don't do well with Elements…"

"Matt has got a point… Normally, Dragoons are taught to use our Water Element to our advantage but not to the extent that I've just performed."

"In fact, just using that one simple move can eat up a chunk of my mind. Yes, I do use the Water Element from the air but to command it…"

"You have to use your mind to focus on every drop to control it as if you were moving a rock with only your mind and willpower. That's where we differ from the Dragoons. We don't have such a problem," finished the Dragfilla as he smiled proudly.

"Yes, but the problem is that your defenses are significantly lower compared to us. That's why we could still overpower your kind into extinction. Well, we managed to get everyone except you," retorted Layla as she pointed her scythe at the grinning man.

"You're correct about that, I did have to kill so much back in those days that I've forgotten how thrilling it is to fight someone again. However, I think we've had enough fun… Let's settle the scores, shall we, little Dragoon?" chuckled the Dragfilla as he raised his scythe high.

"Gladly, you rejected beast," snarled Layla as she gripped her scythe tightly and poured her Elemental Energy into it.

"Hey now, pretty girl... No need to spit venom for little old me, though I don't mind..." replied the gleeful individual.

"Either your intelligence has taken a vacation or you are truly messed up 7 ways to Sunday," noted the Loplin as he backed away from the figure.

"I want to propose something, let's see if you can survive this attack and I will gladly let you all go. How's that for being a good host? After all, you were the ones who intruded into my space…" suggested the enemy.

"You're the one who nearly killed us! You were a terrible host!" argued Matt as he folded his arms across his chest.

"Wait… What do you mean by 'you'? Are you only targeting Layla?" questioned Teemo as his eyes darkened.

"I don't intend to waste my powers on the likes of the two of you… That Dragoon, however, is another flavor altogether," said the Mortician as he licked his lips.

"You are truly sick in the head…"

Layla said nothing as she walked towards and in between the enemy and her teammates. She then twirled her scythe around her body and finally ended with the blade pointed at her opponent.

"Very well… All I ask of you is to leave us alone," stated Layla.

"You're not going to kill me? Or seal me like what your brother tried to do?" asked the Dragfilla, tilting his head.

The confidence and blood were drained from Layla's face after the mere mention of her brother.

"Don't let him get to you…" warned the Loplin as he placed a hand on the girl's shoulder.

"You are right; I am not going to kill or seal you away because I am not one of those people. I am a Dragoon but I do not favor the actions of the Royal Guard. I know of them and I have family working for them but I have and will never be a part of them."

"Rest assured, the only reason why I drew my weapon at you was because you struck first," explained Layla as she resumed her normal stance.

"But he only attacked when we all had our weapons out, right?" asked a confused Loplin.

"No, I felt his usage of Water Elemental Energy poking from the ground. Both of you had shoes on, I don't. The Dragfilla love taunting their enemies by tickling their feet to see if their opponent notices them."
