"I never thought I would have to use one of my moves from that Skillset but here I go!" said Matt as he went backward to shoot out his spell.
"The King Of Fire has descended upon us. Give me the taste of hell. Give them a taste of your wrath. Your reign will never end, your fortress will stand true!" shouted Matt as his gun started to shake as streams of orange and red Elemental Energy engulfed his body.
"Sacred Embers; Ifrit's Armor!" bellowed the Loplin as he fired off a huge bullet that erupted into a diamond shield of flames, allowing the Shadowed Moon to give way.
Matt slammed his foot down to stop himself from getting pushed back as he felt the weight of Layla's power.
"Is… This… What a weak Dragoon is?!" asked the Loplin, trying his best to hold his ground.
"Nope, it's what happens when a young girl who has too much power goes untrained for too long. The spell will be over in under a few Ticks," said Teemo as he arched his back.
"I hope you're right about that last fact!"
Almost on cue, the spell dispersed, leaving the trio standing in the cave with the white orb showing off numbers…
"This thing's maximum calculation is only at 999, you've reached 745… That's the same power output as an Alpha-ranked in the Royal Guard…" said Teemo as he touched the white orb gingerly.
"Why didn't you say you've defeated an Ancient King before?" asked Matt as he rushed towards Layla.
"I didn't think it was useful information to tell. Besides, the Brine King was quite easy to defeat since he didn't do too much damage and was too slow. My twin slaughtered Neptune with a single attack so I don't even come close to that…"
The Felidae wasted no time to head up to the duo and flicked at Layla's forehead, much to the Loplin's anger.
"Why'd you do that to her?! She's already putting herself down, you don't have to put abuse on top of it!" shouted Matt as he rubbed the poor girl's forehead.
"The Brine King was part of the Ancient King realm, alongside the likes of Neptune and Aquarius. They are a force to be reckoned with and only the most skilled should ever be seeing them, let alone a novice defeating one. Who are you, little Dragoon?" growled Teemo as he gripped his blade.
"Oi… Use your words… We don't have to-"
"Shut it, Long ears. I want to hear from her. If you want to work with others to fight against the Salt Sea Goddess, you first have to understand the powers and skills of your teammates. If they are keeping secrets, then you let them go before they stab you in the back."
Matt opened his mouth to argue back but Layla stuck out a hand to squeeze his wrist. The Loplin turned to look at the Dragoon, who had a soft but sad smile. Another squeeze and Matt lowered himself to whisper something to her…
"We don't have to listen to him…"
"You don't have to protect me. I should at least tell you who I am."
Matt smiled as he drew back to full height and allowed Layla to step forward to confront the angered Felidae.
"My name is Layliasfeld Roydon, twin of Benjamin Roydon of the Royal Guard. And I am the daughter of Ysbeau and Gillian Roydon, Ace Team of the Royal Guard. I have battled both the Brine King and Carcinus, acquiring their Skillset."
"I sincerely apologize for not telling you both…" said Layla, bowing her head.
"Don't apologize when you are telling others of your victories. Stand proud and strong! And I accept your apology, cutie," commanded Teemo as he gently stroked the Dragoon's head.
The Loplin finally kept his gun as he sighed. He honestly thought Teemo might kick the girl in the head.
"Come on now, let's go and choose the best type of armor that fits ya… You like to try on new clothes?" asked Teemo, walking back to the exit.
The Loplin glanced at the Dragoon as he placed a hand on her back, gently nudging her forward.
"You can trust him but just be careful when he gets needy…" murmured Matt.
"I heard that!"
"I don't have many clothes, I can only be as creative as my scales can be…" said the Dragoon before the two could bicker again.
"You like dresses? I could make one for you without having so many metal plates but still have high defense…"
Layla's ear perked up as the Felidae offered the option. The young girl was very happy as she recalled the times when her mother would sew dresses for her with the finest fabrics they could afford.
