Chapter 19 - Taking the gamble

He knew he had to decide fast, as he could hear the dying screams of the silver wolf. He realized once the silver wolf died, this pup would start making it move.

Still, it was hard to choose to decide anything without knowing the true power of this guy. 'There is no way this guy could be as strong as Silver Wolf, right?'

He also could not wrap his head around the pup's intention. One, it did not take part in the war and then it also did not control those high-ranking canines in the war.

There was no way a creature with the ability to give sophisticated commands could not lead those guys. Wait… no, maybe that's true. It could be a command type.

The moment he thought of that, everything started clicking in his head. Command type was a unique case where creatures could command others but were not strong enough to make others submit.

As he stared at the small pup, it looked like it was still not strong enough to control those higher-ranking canines. Even if it was the son of the canine king, that did not mean creatures on this side of the space crack, others would follow its command.

From the start, he knew something was wrong with the silver wolf. He did not think it was the young king, but then the silver wolf had abnormal strength.

This created doubt in his mind because of the restriction placed on the space cracks. In Universal Online, these space cracks formed when rulers died.

All the space cracks had limitations on the amount and strength of monsters that could pass through it. This was the reason the super-powerful canine king could not pass through the space crack.

From the time he saw the silver wolf, he was sure that the silver wolf had recently come out of the space crack.

As it was a little too powerful compared to higher-rank monsters present in the forest.

Then there was also no doubt in his mind that most of the canines also came from the space cracks. After all, he spent the last day killing most of them from the forest.

So with so many creatures already coming out, there is no way a creature more powerful than the silver wolf could cross the limitation. Factoring in all that, the only logical choice that came to his mind was sending a command type.

A command type had low power to cross the space crack, and its ability gave a massive boost in wars.

"fck, let's find out if I am right or wrong." He cracked his neck and took out his sword.

He closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths trying to calm his nerves. Time seemed to stop for him for a few seconds. It was so quiet in the forest that he could hear his heartbeat.

Dhuk dhuk!

In the next instance, he opened his eyes and started running toward the tree the pup standing on. He knew he had to end this guy fast before it could sense him he threw his sword straight at it.

Exactly at that moment, the pup turned its head toward him, only for the sword to hit straight at its face.

Bow!

-1

It barked in pain. The force behind the sword made it fall from the tree branch.

Glitch frowned at the low damage. He saw the pup moving its leg in the air in desperation, but it slammed to the ground.

Bamm!

A small dust cloud rose around, but Glitch saw no drop in its health. Not giving any chance for the pup to recover, he rushed in and grabbed its tail.

Pup hissed at him and tried to bite his hand. Not daring to take any risk, he pulled its tail and slammed it back on the ground.

The young king showed no sign of injury and tried to bark at him. He used this chance to stab his last sword right into its mouth.

He saw a sword going in its mouth and a smile formed on his face for a second, only for his eyes to pop wide in the next instance when the sword crumbled into pieces.

-1

He stood there frozen, with the sword hilt in his hand. 'What the hell is this defense?'

The pup smirked at him, and once again tried to bite his hand.

With no weapon available, he swung the pup again on the ground.

-1

That was just the start as he continued to slam the pup around like a laundryman slamming the dirty cloth.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

As he continued to bash the young king around, it started whimpering. For minutes he ignored it as he knew the danger this pup posed but looking at the health that barely went down 10% he decided to pause.

The instant he stopped, the pup stopped whimpering and howled.

His eyes widened as he slammed his entire body on top of the pup's mouth, forcing its mouth to close.

Pup tried to struggle free but its strength was far lower than normal dogs. But it was late, as he heard growls from a few dogs and wolves coming near him.

He looked at the pup, annoyed. The young king stared back with vicious eyes.

It was clear the moment the pup got a chance it would call all the canines back for its help. The pup looked at him with contempt.

He shook his head and whispered to its ears, "You think you are smart? Let me show you something interesting."

With that, he grabbed its tail and rushed toward the canine directions. As he ran, he spotted a mid-size pack of 10 wolves running straight in his direction.

Soon they surround him from all directions. It was unusual for them to surround him, but then it hit him they were not attacking him directly because of the pup in his hand.

It was like he was some criminal who was using a pup as his shield. He smiled at the pup and tightened his grip around its tail. One wolf tried to approach him and before it could react, he swung the pup at its head.

Bam!

The pup's body struck the wolf's skull. The force was so strong that its head burst open, showering the white pup in wolf's blood.

-250 critical hit.
