It's been about a month since Alistar got Ten Dimensions from The Honored One and even though he hasn't been able to use it, he had been trying his best to comprehend what it meant.
For someone to pull out the full power of a Technique, they not only have to channel their Spirit Energy —a branch of Neutral Energy that's found within all Ascenders— the right way but also have to comprehend what the words in it mean.
And that was what Alistar was currently trying to do, even though he had made little to no progress in it.
"Has existed since the beginning and will last till the end?" Puzzled, Alistar kept repeating that sentence while trying his best to decipher its meaning.
He had been stuck on this sentence for about half a month now and currently, the chances of him understanding it were getting bleak.
"I'm sure The Honored One would be incredibly disappointed if he saw that I'm still having trouble comprehending the third sentence in the Technique he created." A little disappointed and ashamed, Alistar scratched the back of his head while letting out a dry laugh.
If only Alistar had known that The Honored One had tasked a wisp of his consciousness to monitor all his actions he might have found a hole to hide in due to embarrassment.
But was The Honored One disappointed in his slow progress? No, he wasn't since he knew how difficult it would take someone of Alistar's age to decipher it with the current amount of knowledge he possessed.
And since Alistar wouldn't be able to use it for a long time, he didn't give a fuck if Alistar understood it tomorrow or in half a year.
But what would piss him off is if Alistar deciphers the first layer of the Technique and decides to stop there. The Honored One would one hundred percent kill him if he dared to do that with the Technique he had given him.
"Who the f*ck is targeting me?"
Having a shiver course down his spine after feeling his life was hanging by an extremely thin thread, Alistar could be seen with beads of sweat on his forehead and an anxious look on his face.
Currently, it felt like his life was hanging by a thread no matter what he did, and thoughts of it were gradually starting to affect him... in a positive way that is.
Ignorant that The Honored Obe was the being responsible for it, Alistar kept on refusing to blame The Honored One as the reason he was anxious.
"At least the person hasn't made an appearance yet. And when they do, I'll be strong enough to protect myself." Alistar stood up from his bed with his desire to grow stronger burning brighter than ever –all due to the entity that was constantly monitoring him.
Walking about a meter away from his bed, Alistar dropped to the floor before getting into the perfect pose needed to do push-ups.
Since the day he had awakened, Alistar had made it a part of his daily routine to exercise even if it was only ten a day.
It might not seem like much but now that he was chosen to Awaken, it was the best time for Alistar to start improving his physical strength since this will give him an edge over his peers and might increase his chances of survival in the future.
This was the method utilized by Clans or wealthy individuals after their kids had been chosen but the only difference was that they consumed Supplements and Serums like it was water.
Their rich background had already pulled them away from their peers but adding the fact that they would get trained by Ascenders who either got hired by the family or were from the family made the distance between the rich and poor an uncrossable chasm unless the poor child was insanely talented.
"Getting born rich is also a form of strength," Alistar said, remembering that he had seen those words in a novel he read.
"But in the face of real talent and hard work, it's all meaningless." He continued, deeming this as what completed the sentence he had said earlier.
And he was right since no matter how wealthy someone was they can never buy talent. They might be able to buy OP Techniques but they would never bring out its full power, unlike geniuses who would be able to bring out the full power of OP Techniques after aligning themselves with Influential Families.
Done with his push-ups which were fifteen, Alistar did the same amount of sit-ups and then the same for squats. He would have done pull-ups too if there was a bar around but there was none so he went to take a shower.
It took him about fifteen minutes to finish bathing and when he was done he wore a black long-sleeved t-shirt coupled with black skin-tight jeans.
Heading down immediately when he had put on his clothes, Alistar stared at the crowded dining table with slightly twitching eyebrows. He wasn't the type who enjoyed eating with other people and he had no plans to change it in his current life.
Alistar stared at them for a while before walking back to his room, deciding that he would come to eat after twenty minutes had passed. Hopefully, the table would have been devoid of people by then.
Click.
When he entered his room, Alistar sighed softly while massaging his eyebrows —using the time he currently had to try and decipher the third sentence in Ten Dimensions.
"If I'm able to crack it, I'll finally be able to use the Technique," Alistar said, clenching his fists before adding. "Well, after I've Awakened that is."
Aware that he'd explode if he tried to use any Technique with his current strength, Alistar had a slight trace of excitement in his eyes as thoughts of being able to grow immensely strong crossed his mind.
A thing that Alistar would never believe if someone told him a month back but now, his mindset had been reformed after meeting The Honored One.
He could avoid the responsibilities that came with having strength in this Universe if he decided to fight for his survival and not for his Race or Planet.
Although a dickish move, Alistar preferred fighting for himself than having the lives of hundreds of million people attached to his.
But those were choices for another time since his priority right now was finding a way to decipher the Technique that The Honored One had given him.
"The answer could be either Truth, Chaos, Energy, or Knowledge," Alistar muttered, knowing that no matter how retarded his answers sounded he needed to put everything on the table when it came to Techniques.
"Well, I guess it's time I say my answer," He said after thinking for about two minutes. Taking in a deep breath, he added. "The answer is Energy."
Whether he was right or wrong, the answer was known to no one other than The Honored One —the Technique's creator.
