Keeping its slitted red eyes fixed on Alistar's form, the green-scaled beast that was inside the bundle of vines ran its purple tongue on its scaled lips.
Sizzle... Sizzle...
With a few drops of its saliva touching the floor, they easily passed through it leaving behind small holes that kept expanding at a slow but steady pace.
Alerted, Alistar turned his head to look directly at where the sound had come from.
Intently staring at the bundle of green vines that were twice as thick as a baby's forearm, Alistar had subconsciously taken a step back after sensing immense danger from whatever lay within it.
It was now Alistar realized that he had f*cked up when he chose not to listen to his instincts.
But who could blame him? It's not like he would expect there to be a monster where he once lived since the chances of that happening were the same as winning a lottery.
"My luck really is shit." Alistar cursed, slightly trembling where he stood.
Although he felt overwhelmed by the pressure the thing in front of him kept releasing, Alistar was still able to keep his mind and body in check after coming in contact with The Honored One's pressure.
Knowing that trying to fight it would be futile, Alistar decided to make a run for it even if that was also hopeless it wasn't as suicidal as fighting it.
With a cunning light flashing in Alistar's eyes for a split second, Alistar took a step back in fright as a fearful expression materialized on his face.
Hyped after seeing Alistar's behavior, the monster fully exposed itself by making all its vines lay flat on the ground.
It was a lizard-looking monster with a towering height of about one and a half meters and seemed to be two meters in length, its body was covered with rough green scales that gave off a metallic sheen, and on its feet were deadly black claws that were curbed akin to the Reaper's scythe, it's mouth was left open revealing several rows of curved white teeth, it had its purple tongue that was coated in a viscous layer of saliva dangling out of its mouth, and finally out of its side where what seemed to be vines.
Thud.
Losing every ounce of strength within him, Alistar was forced to sit on his butt after his legs felt like jelly.
With the fearful expression on his face increasing by tenfold after he stared into the monster's dreadful red eyes, Alistar's clothes clung to his skin as he rapidly gasped for breath.
Despite his fearful exterior, Alistar's mind was as calm as a lake while assessing the shitty situation he found himself in.
'Just great, I really had to meet a Green-scaled Vine Komodo.' He thought, staring at the Green-scaled Vine Komodo.
'But on the bright side, it is a type of beast that can't move.' Alistar said to himself while diverting his gaze to the Green-scaled Vine Komodo's black claws.
Even though they looked like claws, they weren't claws but roots shaped up to look like claws.
Due to not being able to move, they have vines by their sides which they use to gather nutrients by draining the blood within their prey.
As for their mouth, they rarely got to taste anything apart from water so any time they found a living creature before them there was a chance for them to enter a frenzy.
'Although dangerous, I just have to go through with it.' Narrowing his eyes, Alistar kept staring at the Green-scaled Vine Komodo that stood before him.
Slowly moving backward, Alistar tried to make the Komodo think that he was afraid of it so that it could give Alistar some time by taunting him.
"Rooooooaaaaarrrrr!!!" It let out an imposing roar that had a trace of ridicule after seeing Alistar move backward while trembling slightly.
Unaware that it was getting toyed by its prey, the Green-scaled Vine Komodo would let out a roar anytime Alistar moved back while wiggling its vines slightly.
Every time it wiggled its vines, Alistar would purposefully let out a yelp so that he could keep his act in check.
This kept going on for a whole five minutes until Alistar had managed to reach the edge of the room.
Immediately standing up when he reached the door, a cold look flashed in Alistar's eyes as he stared daggers at the Green-scaled Vine Komodo.
"When I grow stronger I'll come back here and kill you," Alistar said with narrowed eyes.
Laying down one last threat, Alistar turned to face the door before placing his hand on it.
Failing to notice the vine that lay not too far away from him, Alistar kept imagining the confused face of the Green-scaled Vine Komodo as he slowly pulled the door towards himself —completely forgetting that it had its vines spread all over the house.
Just as Alistar was about to walk out of the room, the vine that had quietly lay beside him appeared next to him in the blink of an eye.
Wham!!!
Crash!!
Violently hitting him, Alistar's figure had ended up crashing into the wooden door thereby breaking it and leaving his body covered with splinters.
"Argh..." Finally feeling the pain that came with the Komodo's attack, Alistar could only let out a groan as his body felt as heavy as lead. His vision was blurred and he could feel a warm liquid slowly flow down his left arm.
In a single attack, Alistar who was very healthy had been placed near death's door. It was a miracle that he was even alive as that attack could have split him in half.
"Blergh." With his insides feeling like mush, Alistar puked out blood from his bruised lips.
"Rooaaarrr!!"
Pleased after seeing the insect that dared to mock it was half dead, the Green-scaled Vine Komodo let out a loud bellow to express its delight.
Immediately launching its vines toward Alistar, the Green-scaled Vine Komodo aimed at killing him in a single attack as its vines tore the air.
Whoosh!!!
Hearing the sound of the Komodo's vines splitting the air, Alistar slowly closed his eyes and muttered. "I guess this is how I die."
