The next morning, Nara opened her eyes slowly, unwilling to give in to the sweet dream she was having.
But then she realized that it wasn't a dream as she felt Nathan's arm wrapped around her waist, pressing her back against his chest. His legs intertwined with hers under the sheets.
It wasn't a dream. She had sex with Nathan last night. She felt her cheeks burn as she recalled everything. So much for punishing him, Nara thought as a smile graced her lips.
She loved him, and she couldn't deny it.
"Nathan? Are you awake?" she whispered softly.
"No," Nathan replied with a smile, his eyes still closed.
"Oh. So you wouldn't mind if I did this then," Nara said as she pinched him on his chest.
"Ow. Fine, I'm awake," Nathan said, grabbing Nara's hand and kissing it as he opened his eyes to look at her.
"I haven't slept so peacefully for a long time," Nathan admitted softly to Nara, caressing her cheeks with the back of his hand.
Nara's heart warmed up to his words.
"Then let's go back to sleeping in the same bedroom," Nara suggested calmly, to have Nathan smile.
"I would love that," Nathan replied, attempting to kiss Nara, but she stopped him.
"I need to tell you something important. First," Nara said, her voice trembling slightly as she placed one of her hands on her stomach.
Nathan frowned slightly. "Sure. What is it?" he asked.
"I..I'm.." Nara stumbled with her words, her eyes darting everywhere except Nathan's face. She wondered how he would react to the news. But her worries soon vanished as her eyes landed on a peculiar picture right on the nightstand.
Her heart shattered, and her worries were replaced with rage.
"You fucking asshole," she said, her voice breaking as she pushed Nathan away from her and got down from the bed.
"What!?" Nathan asked, confused at the sudden change in Nara's attitude.
"I can't believe you. How did I not see that yesterday," Nara said angrily, referring to the picture of Rebecca on the nightstand. It was only then Nathan understood.
"Nara.."
"Were you thinking about her when you were fucking me yesterday?"
"That's enough, Nara," Nathan warned. He was very sensitive when it came to Rebecca.
"Enough?? You fucking piece of shit," Nara replied venomously. "I'm such a fool," she added in tears as she pulled her hair.
"That's not true."
"Do you even love me?" Nara snapped, her voice trembling as tears filled her eyes.
"Without a doubt," Nathan answered firmly.
"But you still love her. Don't you?" Nara asked, afraid to hear his reply.
Nathan didn't answer, and his silence hurt even more than anything else.
Nara broke down in tears. It was just like the first time, when she had discovered about Rebecca.
How could she be so stupid and let this happen again? Sharon was right. She should have left him. And now she would.
Nara took a deep breath and tried to pull herself together before wiping the tears off her face and walking out of the room.
"Nara," Nathan called out as he followed closely behind her. "Just calm down," he said as he grabbed her shoulder.
"Don't fucking touch me!" she yelled as she repeatedly hit him on the chest. "I fucking hate you," she sobbed.
Nathan let her hit him as much as she liked if that would make her less angry.
Nara stopped and continued her way back to her room and slammed the door right behind her, the sound echoing through the silent house.
She slid down against the door, her sobs wracking her body as she buried her face in her hands.
She felt so stupid.
