Chapter 17 - Lady of the House

"So what are you gonna do now?" Sharon asked Nara, now that she was feeling better and they had eaten a proper English breakfast.

"Honestly, I don't know," Nara replied with a shrug.

"You didn't think this through, did you?"

"Nope. I was just following your fucking advice," Nara replied with a chuckle.

"Very funny," Sharon answered, but then a thought crossed her mind.

"Hey, what about the Will Reading ceremony or something yesterday? Did Nathan inherit something good?" She asked.

"Why are you concerned about that when my life is falling apart?" Nara snapped.

"Sorry. I was just curious. I won't ask again."

Nara rolled her eyes as she responded. "He got everything."

"Everything?"

"Everything. His grandfather left everything to him. All his companies, his businesses, all his properties including the huge family estate. Everything," Nara replied. "Oh, and he also named him Head of the house," she added.

"Wow," Sharon exclaimed with a smile. "That's amazing."

"Yeah. For him," Nara replied.

"Don't you know what that means?" Sharon asked Nara.

"Yeah... His entire family literally hates his guts."

"No, silly. If Nathan is Head of the house, doesn't that make you Lady of the house?"

"What are you talking about?"

"I'm saying you're the Lady of the house. You practically own half of everything that now belongs to him. That's the law," Sharon explained, causing Nara to smile mischievously.

"That's kind of true," Nara replied as realization dawned on her. "I am the fucking Lady of the house, aren't I?" She said, a bright smile forming on her face.

"You sure are," Sharon confirmed.

"I have to leave right now," Nara said, grabbing her phone and suitcase.

"Why? What the hell are you planning in your fucked up mind now?" Sharon asked worriedly.

"I need a makeover. I need to be Nara Smith again. This hair, these outfits, they're not me. And I need a freaking tattoo," Nara replied with a smirk as she dashed out the door.

"What!? Nara, wait a second," Sharon said, trying to stop Nara, but it was too late as her door was slammed shut. Great.

"Chairman," Louis addressed Nathan with his new title as he gave a small bow, showing his respect.

Nathan nodded absentmindedly.

"I am Louis Andre. I've served your grandfather for twenty-plus years, and I can testify that he's a great man with great ideas and business tactics. He was indeed a lion in the business world. And I see a great deal of him in you. I am honored indeed to serve another great Hill."

"Thank you for your kind words," Nathan replied gratefully to Louis.

"Anytime, sir. I'll be your new P.A., and I'm here to assist you with anything humanly possible. Anything you need, consider it already done."

"Okay."

"You have some deeds you need to sign, investors you need to meet, and your grandfather's partners are desperate to have a word or two with you," Louis listed.

"Alright. I'll get started then," Nathan replied with an exhausted sigh. He hadn't even started yet, but just the thought of everything he needed to do made him exhausted.

"One more thing, sir. You can't manage the Estate's affairs without actually being in the Estate. I'm afraid you'd have to move in."

"Is that really necessary?"

"Given the need you have to exert dominance and control over the rest of your family so that they'll all see you as the Head, then yes, it's very necessary," Louis explained.

"I'll consider it," Nathan replied calmly. "Thank you. You may leave."

Louis bowed before stepping out of the office.

Nathan's shoulders slumped the moment Louis left. So much work needed his attention, but all he could think about was Nara.
