Chapter 1 - Nathan and Nara

Nathan watched as Nara peeled off her clothes and stepped into the swimming pool.

"What the hell are you doing?" He asked with a frown as he walked closer to the pool.

"Taking a swim. What does it look like I'm doing?" She asked sarcastically without sparing a glance in his direction.

"Get out of the pool, Nara, and put your clothes back on," Nathan half yelled.

"Sure. Whatever you say, Daddy," Nara replied nonchalantly, still in the water.

"Can you just act mature for once in your life?" Nathan asked angrily, trying not to stare at Nara's naked body in the pool.

"And can you stop telling me what to do?" Nara shot back, finally turning to face him.

She tilted her head a little as a wicked grin formed on her face. "Does my naked body now displease you? I thought you liked seeing me naked?" She asked with a smirk.

Nathan clenched his jaws so hard one might think his teeth would break.

That's it, he had had enough of her childish behavior.

Still with his clothes on, he dived into the pool and forcefully grabbed Nara's hand and pulled her out.

"Put your clothes on now, Nara. I won't ask again," he growled dangerously.

Nara, who was wide-eyed and wet, was now furious. She forcefully removed her hand from his grip.

"I can do whatever I want, Nathan. You're not the boss of me," she said angrily, her temper matching his.

Nathan almost laughed as he rubbed his temples. Here he was, soaking wet, trying to talk some sense into someone he was sure was crazy.

"Why do I even bother with you?" Nathan said calmly with a sigh. "Do whatever the fuck you want. I don't care anymore," he added as he walked back inside the house, soaking wet.

Nara sighed. Then finally picked up her nightgown, wore it quickly, and also made her way inside the house.

"Guess you guys are done fighting," was the first thing Gwen, Nara's sister-in-law, said to Nara as she walked in.

"Who says we were fighting?" Nara asked with a raised brow.

"The angry look on his face and the fact that he walked in soaking wet," Gwen stated the facts to have Nara roll her eyes.

"You should be a detective, Gwen, you're so fucking smart," Nara replied sarcastically as she tried to ignore her and continued to walk towards her bedroom.

"Stop provoking him, Nara. I'm telling you this for your own good," Gwen said, making Nara stop in her tracks and turn around to face her.

Nara smirked. "You may all be afraid of him, but I'm his wife and I don't care. I'll provoke him if I want to provoke him," she replied with a devil-may-care look before she left, going upstairs to Nathan's bedroom.

"Knock. Knock, husband," Nara said without knocking as she made her way into Nathan's bedroom.

Nathan, who was about to take a nice hot shower, walked out of his bathroom in his bathrobe.

He shut his eyes in annoyance as his wife walked in. Yep, his wife. His crazy, crazy wife who should be locked away in a mental asylum.

"There you are," Nara said with a smirk.

"Nara, can you just stop acting like this?"

"Acting like what? Enlighten me, Nathan, how am I acting?"

"You know exactly what I mean."

"You mean I should stop acting like myself and pretend to be someone else. You want me to pretend to be her," Nara said, her eyes filled with genuine pain as she stared into Nathan's.

"You know that's not what I mean."

"Did you ever love me, Nathan? Or did you just pretend to?"

"Why are we even talking about this?" Nathan asked in annoyance. "Nothing I say will ever make you understand, so why talk about it?"

"Because it hurts, Nathan. It hurts so badly," Nara snapped. "But you don't care, do you?"

"I don't," Nathan answered coldly.

"Good," Nara said with a dry laugh, trying to mask her pain. "It's either I provoke you enough to finally kill me, or I summon the courage to do it myself."

With that being said, She walked over to the nightstand, easily lifting a glass jar filled with water from it and emptied its contents on the king-size bed.

"I hope you sleep well tonight, honey," Nara said with a grin before letting go of the glass jug.

It fell.

And broke into a million pieces just like their marriage.

The only difference was their marriage was much worse.
