The next day Gojo and Grisella went early to the adventurers guild. The earlier to arrive could take the best quests.
After arriving at the guild they went through the quests put on the board. Then they came across a quest of goblin slaying there. They took that quest due a decent reward of two big copper coins.
The quest was from a village named Durbin. The village was located a little far from the capital. It took around five and a half hours to reach the village by horse cart. They left for the village quickly.
The small village was surrounded by forests just like Seldis. Upon reaching the village they met the village chief who had put in the quest at the guild.
" Apparently our village may get attacked sooner or later. It started five days ago. Livestock started to go missing frequently. When one of the villagers went to check one day he got wounded by arrows. Thankfully he managed to see the culprits behind his shooting. They were goblins. " said the village chief with a concerned look on his face.
" We have also saw a large number of footprints near the village. They were very typical for goblins. Hence we asked for
help. " the village chief ended his speech there.
" Sounds pretty serious, we will check for ourselves. " said Gojo and he went to see the footprints.
It were the same old footprints, that he had seen back in Seldis. There were also a pair of larger footprints. Meaning there were hobgoblins amongst the goblins.
Gojo and Grisella waited for the night to come. As night approached they saw two small silhouettes moving through the roads. They followed the silhouettes and managed to spot their source. It was a pair if goblins scouting the village.
" Should we attack them ?" Grisella whispered to Gojo.
" No we will follow them. They will lead us to their camp or base. " replied Gojo.
The goblins entered a chicken coop and started carrying away two chickens. Gojo and Grisella closely followed them as they went into the forest.
After a few minutes they finally came the goblin camp. Under the light of the moon they saw a large number of tents formed in a circle and little far away a goblin mage and a few goblins prowling around.
Gojo took his position behind a tree. He stretched his hand, gathered energy and sent it flying towards a tent full of goblins. In the blink of an eye the tent got crushed and flattened.
The sudden destruction of the tent sowed chaos and confusion throughout the entire camp. The goblin mage tried to calm things down. But a he got hit with reverse red.
By this time the goblins managed to spot Gojo. Several arrows and slings came his way. Gojo was waiting for this. Using his energy he propelled himself towards the entire army of goblins. He then punched, kicked and punched again as he tore through the goblins.
A few goblins tried to run away but got decapitated by Grisella who was waiting nearby.
Then a large number of stones and boulders came flying his way as Gojo had cleared the camp. Due to his infinity they did nothing to him. The hobgoblins had arrived.
There were a total of four hobgoblins in the army. Two of them had started to throw rocks and boulders towards Gojo. The other two were waiting for an opportunity to strike.
Gojo didn't hand them an opportunity. With his Levitation he managed to fly for a few minutes and he used reverse red to behead the two hobs hurling boulders towards him and turned his attention towards the two others.
Seeing their comrades dead both of the hobs charged at full speed at Gojo. One of them was taken out with reverse red but the other one escaped with only a hand torn. It went straight for Grisella.
It tried to hit Grisella with it's axe but she dodged it by getting below the axe. She used one of her daggers to strike one of it's legs as she got behind it. After getting behind it she struck the the other leg with her dagger.
The hob turned around to face Grisella, but she again ran and got behind it's back. This time she put a fortitude spell on her sword. She pierced the hob's neck using the sword. The sword went in from one side and came from the other side as the hob fell to the ground. It was dead.
" Wow, you definitely have improved. " said Gojo " Alright, now should we count the bodies. "
They counted a little over a hundred goblin corpses just like the group that had attacked Seldis four years ago.
" Looks like we took care of all of them. Afterall only a dead goblin is a good goblin. " remarked Gojo.
" Where did you hear that phrase ?" asked Grisella but Gojo didn't answer her and kept surveying the corpses.
After morning came Gojo and Grisella gathered the villagers outside the village and showed them the corpses. Many of them were overjoyed and invited them to stay at the village which they declined. After acquiring the large copper coin they left Durbin.
