Gojo started to carry out quests meant for rank D. That way he was able to earn a little more money.
His stats did not change much, since most of them were already level 7 or above. He started using his levitation more often to level it up.
One day as Gojo and Grisella went to take up quests they saw a quest at the bottom of the board. It was a quest from Derin, a village not far from the city of Geradin. In the quest it was mentioned that for the last few days a number of livestock was going missing. The quest was to investigate this matter.
It didn't take much time for Gojo and Grisella to reach the village since it was near. Arriving to the village they went straight for the village chief.
" It did not start much long ago. It has been a week. Livestock as big as cows and pigs have gone missing. We sent out two of our men to scout the nearby forests. But they found nothing. " said the chief.
He further said " This does not seem like a goblin scouting. Please investigate this thoroughly. "
" Yep leave that to us. " said Gojo as he left to begin the quest.
Gojo and Grisella searched through the forests for any sign of animal attack but could not find any.
Then Gojo decided to use levitation to try and scout the surroundings. Through the corner of his eyes he managed to spot a slight movement in some distant bushes. He flew towards the bushes. Upon reaching the destination he saw a huge monitor lizard hiding in the bushes.
Gojo landed on a nearby tree. He then used reverse red and knocked down a tree right above the monitor. But the monitor moved swiftly it did not hurt it much. However it was forced out of the bushes. It was as big as a bull.
Gojo jumped down from the tree and levitated towards the large monitor lizard. He covered his fists with energy and punched on the lizard's face as hard as possible. The lizard let out soft growl before jumping towards Gojo.
Gojo decided to run behind the monitor in order to find a good blind spot. But the monitor swiped it's tail at full speed towards him. He managed to dodge the swipe and stand up. The lizard again tried to swipe it's tail towards him.
This time Gojo used reverse red to cut off the tail from it's body. More than half of the tail got separated and blood gushed of the wound. He stared at the lizard's face, it looked panicked from the attack.
The monitor quickly retreated into the nearby bushes. Gojo followed pretty unconcerned. After sometime the bushes on his left started moving violently as the lizard emerged to ambush him. However he had expected this to happen since he had detected it with his six eyes.
Gojo jumped back and used reverse red to hit the lizard again. This time if lost one of it's front limbs. It then started to retreat again into the bushes. Gojo followed the lizard calmly.
As the lizard struggled it's way to the entrance of a cave it started to make weird noises through it's mouth. Gojo watched as from inside the cave another lizard peeked out. That must be it's mate he thought to himself as he approached them.
He used reverse red to blow apart the wounded lizard's head. Seeing it's mate die the other lizard gave a loud hiss and got out of the cave. It started charging towards Gojo.
" Well you look strong, but I am the strongest. " said Gojo as he jumped above the lizard and landed behind it's back.
The lizard tried to turn around and face him but it was slow. Gojo used reverse red to blow apart one of it's front limbs. This did not deter the lizard as it charged towards him limping on it's other legs.
Gojo used reverse red again on the lizard. This time he hit lizard's head and destroyed it. The lifeless body of the lizard fell into the pool of blood on the ground.
As Gojo stood at the entrance of the cave to relax for sometime, Grisella approached him.
" Why do you always disappear suddenly ? I managed to find you following the trail of blood left by the lizard. " said Grisella.
" Well, it would have been dangerous for you as this one was an ambush predator. Also you were quite far away from me when I first spotted it moving through the bushes. " said Gojo.
Seeing her glare at him he said " Well, how about we check this cave together. We may find something interesting here. "
Grisella nodded and they entered the cave. They lighted a torch using some stones and explored inside the cave. There they came across a lot of bones and skulls belonging to the missing cows and pigs. Near the end of the cave they stumbled upon thinest of the lizards.
In the nest there were a number of eggs. These obviously belonged to the lizards.
Pointing towards the eggs Gojo said " We need to destroy all of them. We can't let more monitor lizards grow out here as it is dangerous to both the villagers and their livestock. "
Grisella looked at the eggs and said " But haven't we already slaughtered the lizards ? Do we really need to destroy the eggs ?"
" Throw away your hesitation, Grisella. If we don't destroy them now just think how many villagers and livestock will lose their lives. We can't let these lizards see the light of the
day. "
Hearing this Grisella reluctantly picked up a rock and started destroying the eggs. After destroying the eggs they returned to the village.
The next day, the village chief confirmed the corpses and rewarded the two of them. After finishing the quest Gojo and Grisella returned back to Geradin.
