"How could you?!" An older man who looked like he was in his 50s thundered.
"This whole twist is going to put her life at risk." He stood up and walked towards the younger man.
"It took me 13 years to find her again" The younger man said.
"You were never supposed to find her" the older man said and with a wave of his hand a window shattered to pieces. They were standing in a large hall with ancient carvings.
The atmosphere in the air was tense and the younger man frowned.
"She is my destiny, father!" René clenched and unclenched his fist.
His father was making it very difficult for him. He had searched for her for 13 years but the circumstances he had found her again weren't favorable for either of them.
"She's destined to die if you're together.." the anger in the older man's voice turned to sadness.
13 years ago, he had done something Terrible to an 8 year old and it had changed the course of her destiny. He looked up at René standing infront of him.
His son wasn't always so responsible and considerate until that day 13 years ago that had changed him into this man he was today. 13 years ago he wasn't this feared mafia lord, he was just a youngling, a young reckless Tengu that only saw the present and cared about the present.
*FLASHBACK*
"Is she going to die father?" René sobbed. His large black wings drooping.
"This wouldn't have happened if you stopped playing around in the mountains like i had asked you" Hatori Tokugawa yelled.
Humans often came to the mountains for recreational activities and The Tengus were warned to stay clear away from human view. Although the mountain territory had been claimed by the Tengus who had been living there for over a thousand years, humans were considered to be dangerous and if found in your real Tengu form, it could cause problems between both species.
"Daarin… he's just too young to understand" his mother rubbed his head. In Tengu age, he was 281 years old, but in human age, he was just 22 years old
"Well now he's going to learn every action has consequences" his father stormed out of the hall, breaking through a window and flying off.
"okaasan…is she going to die? I really didn't mean to drop her i swear" He clinged onto his mother tightly. His father was the most feared and most respected Tengu demon and he hated humans. His own father scared him and was very strict with him.
"son… It's not that your father dislikes humans, it's just that our species and their haven't come to terms of coexistence" His mother was more of a kindred spirit, calm and considerate. He wondered how she had ended up with his father but then he always saw how she was the only one that was always able to calm him down.
"I'm sorry human" he turned to the young girl laying in the bed unconscious and covered in bruises.
He held her hand, something jolted in his veins and up into his head. Some kind of electricity.
He flew out the window his father had broken and flee back to the side of the mountain the incident had happened.
"Faye!!! Daddy's worried please come out wherever you are" A man continually called as he searched the mountains with some of his men.
He had brought his daughter out to the moutains for a father daughter bonding like he did every holiday. René would watch them everytime they came out to the mountains.
He had come to the conclusion humans showed more affections to each other more than the Tengus did.
"Faye! Please little bun, your mother's going to kill me" the man looked conflicted. René contemplated wether to come out of his hiding place to tell him what had happened to his daughter.
"I'm sorry, i dropped your daughter while i was flying with her" he said to himself. He was practicing on how to break the news to the girls Father.
That didn't make any sense and would definitely freak the poor man out.
"Young master, your father needs you back home now" One of his father's men called descending behind him.
"But… B-but… i need to tell him" he turned to look at Osuke, his father's most loyal swords man. Osuke shook his head. He didn't talk much and to understand him, you needed to pay attention to his actions.
Both men ascended into the sky and flew back to the castle.
"What were you trying to do?" His father grabbed him by the arm and shoved him.
"Your actions only bring trouble" he yelled ask he began a wave of energy in the room.
René knew what this was. It was the reincarnation ritual. He lowered his head.
Their souls were going to be bonded and he was going to give her a quarter of his life. But on no circumstances was he to ever meet with her, be intimate with her,nor ever be with her.
There were bonded but we're destined to remain apart. He had watched her for two years and had developed some feelings for her. He was too young but he had hoped to wait for her. Maybe humans and Tengus could never coexist.
After the reincarnation ritual, he had went through the portals of death and had returned human. The rule was, if he ever found her and mated with her, he'd become Tengu again and this time he'd have no control over his powers.
"You will kill her, if you ever mate with her" were his father's words.
*FLASHBACK ENDS*
"I'll protect her father." He protested. He had found her again and wasn't ready to let her go.
"You dragged the poor girl back to this unfortunate buried past made from your mistake" he father sighed.
"I'll not get involved this time" his father said walking out of the hall room.
In Tengu age, his father was 1600 years old, in human age,his father was 56years old. His mother had passed away 9years ago.
"Hey.." René called, wrapping his arms around Faye.
"Hey… you left without another word this morning" she looked up at his face worried.
After he had said i love you to her, he was suddenly summoned and left almost immediately.
"Mama.." Daisuke called from the doorway. He was carried into the room by his nanny.
"Hey baby.. you look so much better" she smiled, taking him from the nanny's arms
"Hey big guy, you look much better now" René ruffled the boy's hair tenderly.
"He loves it here" Faye smiled. René felt a pang of guilt whenever he saw her smile.
If only he knew, Somehow he felt like he had groomed her only to put her life on the line. But how was he supposed to know, if he had known it was her that night from four years ago, he'd rather let the aphrodisiac kill him. Somehow knowing now she was the same girl from his past life, he would have gone to the ends of the earth just to be far from her.
"Mama, is this daddy?" Daisuke asked. For his age, he was smarted than expected.
Faye looked up at René like she was seeking permission to answer that. René smiled at her avoiding her eyes,he took Daisuke from her and kissed his forehead.
"Yes i am daddy" he hugged the boy who nuzzled his neck.
"Come, I'll give you a bath, then feed you" faye said making to take the boy from René.
"It's fine I'll do it, just get some rest" he tenderly carried the child out of the room.
Faye sighed as she watched them go. He was acting strange. He was a strange man. One moment, he was happy, smiling and professing love and the next he was quiet and avoided physical contact and even eye contact.
*SOMEWHERE IN HOKKAIDO*
A woman in her early 40s burst into a board room, she was caramel skinned and for her age a beauty that one could mistake was in her mid 20s.
"Harriet…Daarin what are you doing here?" the older man in his late 50s asked looking up from his laptop. For a man his age, he was much too good looking and healthy. No wrinkles could be spotted on his face.
"13 years and I still can't hold my daughter in my arms?" She cried. 13 years ago,her husband and child had gone to the mountains for their holiday family bonding and only her husband had come back home with a story she hadn't been able to comprehend up to this day.
The trauma of loosing a child out of the blue had made her unable to conceive and bear another.
Interracial marriages weren't so common in japan when She had married her husband but his had accepted her anyways.
Her husband Kenzo Nakamura was from a long line of billionaires with Shogun warlord ancestors and owned chains of estates in Hakone, Hokkaido and Tokyo. He was a real estate Mogul. They had met at a festival in Tokyo, then later ran into each other on a business blossomed into something more. Her family was also well to do and she was helping her brother run their father's law firm before she got married and relocated to live in Hokkaido with him.
"I've promised to find our daughter no matter what" He walked over to hold her.
"The meeting has been postponed" he turned to his employees and them all left the board room in a single file.
"I'm dying Kenzo.." she sobbed and looked him in the eyes. "Let me atleast see my child again"
He hugged her. He hadn't stopped searching. Although he didn't Believe his daughter had died that day, he still had her under A Missing Person search.
"I should have gone with you two.. I would have kept a close eye on her and maybe she would still be here today" Harriet sobbed in Kenzo's arms.
She still had faith her daughter was alive somewhere and hoped she'd be able to meet her daughter once more before this cancer took her.
René walked into the room Faye had been all morning. He wondered if she was interested in touring the villa. She hadn't left the room she was in for days now. She even hardly ate, but for someone who ate so little she didn't look skinny, she was a woman full in the right places.
"Don't you want to at least tour the villa and enjoy the scenery?" He asked, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind. She was always staring outside this window that overlooked the mountains. Somehow it scared him she might have remembered something from their past.
"I don't know why but that side of the mountain feels nostalgic" she shrugged like she hadn't heard what he had said.
"Do you remember anything about your family?" He kissed her hair.
"No…I don't know, I grew up in an orphanage. The orphanage told me I was dropped off with them when I was 8" she sighed, she didn't really like talking about her past. What was beyond her was beyond her. She had lived a terrible life,a very poor life. She couldn't even go to school and the only education she had gotten was for the high school home school level at the orphanage. That hadn't even been enough to get her a decent paying job to survive in the city and then after that night from four years ago,she found out she was pregnant a month later and she felt her world had come collapsing on her. But what could she have done if not get up and continue pushing like she always did.
For a moment she thought she saw a flash of personal guilt in his eyes but then it disappeared just as almost as she had seen it.
"Where did you disappear to this morning?" She asked, turning to face him.
"I had a few things to take care of" he answered, still looking out the window.
"You're not the same René from last night" she squirmed out of his hold and started for the door but he caught hold of his arm.
"What do you mean?" He asked, puzzled. This woman was a puzzle herself and she confused him greatly. What did she mean by not the same René from last night?
"You're suddenly cold. Last night's René was warm and loving" she pouted. It made his head want to explode with adoration. Why did she always have to make him want to squeal.
"When he was inside you?" He teased and she playfully hit his arm covering her face in her palms.
"Oyabun… we have a problem" it was Tanaka standing by the door with a serious expression on his face. While on the inside, he wanted to tease his boss who was acting adoringly with the woman in his arms. All the years they had known each other, he'd never seen René like this, so tender and loving. René was always cold towards everyone and exuded a powerful tyrant aura about him.
