Faye's eyes fluttered open to the sound of slithering and hissing. She immediately sat up. She didn't know when she had passed out,she looked around the room in a blurry state and jumped out of bed trembling.
"Sss s-hello love" Kenji smiled. He was standing by the door, arms crossed, two large horns on his head, completely dark eyes and a snaking tongue that rolled out his mouth every time he uttered a word.
Faye screamed running to the other side of the bed. The man in front of her was no longer the Kenji she knew. His upper body was human and bare,his lower body a large green snake body.
"Let me out please" she cried, she had never seen anything like this before and was scared for her life.
Outside,the sky darkened and a thunder storm rumbled. Everyone on the streets of Tokyo scampered for safety.
The flapping of wings could be heard and then there were whooshing sounds.
Faye looked out the window and saw René in his Tengu form, in all his mightiness. There was a terrifying looking on his face and his eyes were bloodshot red.
Kenji hissed and gave him a mocking smile,this made René more pissed. He dived head first into the room through the window. There was a screeching sound and faye glanced out the window to see an accident had happening. A woman had been knocked down by a small delivery truck.
"René..!" Faye called. The sky outside had turned completely red. She could barely see a thing.
René turned to look at her for a brief before turning back to snarl at Kenji.
"You are an abomination" René growled and Kenji laughed out loud.
Faye felt confused, this didn't seem like it was about her anymore.
"Better we are enemies than friends" Kenji hissed with a mocking smile.
He swiped his huge tail at René in the air with an angry hiss. René moved out of the way in time to avoid Kenji's tail.
"You yokai's have always been way too super ambitious,taking what does not belong to you"
René lunged down at Kenji and when Kenji was distracted by René's wings, René kicked him in the lower part of his stomach which sent him flying into the wall with a loud and painful hiss.
"The girl was mine from the beginning or are you talking about something else" he cackled loudly
He got up looking very furious, both men glared at each other as Faye stood glued to the wall in utter shock and dismay of what was happening in front of her.
Kenji's tail wrapped around René's Wrist and drew him in, making his face collide with Kenji's blow but to Faye's surprise, René seemed unmoved and unhurt by the blow.
René grabbed his opponent by the neck, flapping his wings and launching both himself and his opponent into the sky breaking through the roof of the building.
Faye ran out of the building, hurrying down the steps in an almost see through white lingerie. She looked up in the sky and saw the silhouette of the two men fighting.
"You bastard!!" René yelled and there was an instant thunder rumbling. He spread his wings and blew a strong with with them at Kenji who tumbled and came falling from the sky to the ground with a loud thud.
Faye ran to see where kenji had fallen, there was a large whole in the ground, he had made a very hard impact with the earth and she wondered if he would have survived it if he was human.
"Hi" kenji weakly waved at her and climbed out of the whole. When he came face to face with her, his long tail wrapped around her body squeezing her a little.
He roughly held her jaw in his long fingers, faye wondered when his nails hand grown so long making it look claw-like. She tried to escape his hold but he wouldn't let go.
"See i told you he was weak,you've made him weak" kenji laughed at her feeble attempt to escape him.
"His not the one getting his arse beat!" Faye mocked him and he frown tightening his hold around her neck.
"you've made him weak!" He spat again angrily "but me, you make me stronger! Can't you see we belong together?!" He continued chocking her
Faye was starting to find it hard to breathe
"L-let…. G-go of m-me you monster" she tried to scratch his hand to escape his hold.
Her eyelids slowly began to droop and her vision blurry. She could see René descended quietly behind kenji, he put an arm around kenji's neck catching him by suprise and making him drop Faye.
Faye landed on her butt feeling dizzy just in time to hear some screams from afar.
She turned around her and saw some smoke like figures of different forms,shapes and sizes flying past her. They seemed to bee falling from a whirling portal like hole in the red sky. A female like smoke figure stopped in front of her and circled her menacingly. She stopped again, coming face to face with Faye. It snarled at her, looking her in the eye. Its eyes were completely black in it's socket
"W-what are you?" She asked, her fingers trembling.
It laughed viciously,it's laughter echoing around Faye.
"We….." the figure spoke,it's voice seemed to be made up of many voices, she could here the agonizing screams and cries behind those voices.
"We…are Legion, for we are many" it tried to touch her face.
"GET AWAY FROM HER!!" Faye heard René's voice thunder and with a wave of his hand, the figure was burnt,it's ashes dispersing into the blowing wind.
René looked tired and Faye just wanted to hold him and run from all of this chaos but it was far from over. He was standing there shirtless,bruises all over his body, his wings flapping continuously. He stared at her and although faye could not see the emotions in his eyes which had turned completely black,she could see it in the way his shoulders had slopped,the pain, the anger,the regret. He was tired, not from the fighting,from everything, he was so tired and didn't even need to say so.
She walked over to him but stopped a halfway. They both started at each other and Faye picked up some courage to move closer to him. She touched his wound but he didn't wince nor move, she held his face tenderly but he didn't stop her. She held her face with both palms and kissed him but he didn't kiss back.
When she backed away, he was still standing there staring at her.
"René.." she called gently. She felt like he didn't know her anymore.
She looked past him and saw kenji behind him with a sinister smile.
"René watch out!" Her eyes widened in suprise when she saw the large ancient knife in kenji's hand.
René spin around alarmed but kenji lunged the knife into the side of his stomach laughing. René grabbed Kenji by the neck and flung him far, verry far, so far faye could not see which direction he had been thrown to.
"René" she rushed to him just in time to see him cough and spit out some blood. He fell to his knees and Faye held onto him.
"No no No.. what do i do, what do i do?" She cried holding onto him. His wings disappeared and he gradually transformed back into his human form.
"Faye?" He called like he was surprised to see her.
"René, René you're bleeding" she held his face with her bloodied hands
"Yeah.." he responded calmly looking at her panicked face.
"what do i do?" She asked as she began to sob.
"This is all my fault, I'm sorry. I ruin everything, I'm sorry." She apologized gently touching where he had been stabbed.
"What do i do? Please don't die" she looked up at his face to find it calm and staring back at her.
"Nothing.. i won't die" He smiled at her and touched her face affectionately.
She looked at him confused,tears glistening in her eyes.
"What do you mean nothing? You're bleeding, y-youre losing alot of blood" she gestured down at his wound.
"It'll be fine…let's get out of here" He said trying to stand up to his feet. Faye helped home up carefully, the knife was still stuck deep in the side of his stomach.
She supported him, put his arm around her shoulder as they began to walk. The sky was clearing up but the bellowing winds didn't stop.
"Boss!" Tanaka called running towards them, the wind was blowing his hair into his face.
When he got to them, he took René's other hand and draped it around his shoulders helping faye support him. René sighed tiredly.
"He's bleeding" Faye said to Tanaka sniffing and blinking back her tears.
"He'll be fine young mistress" tanaka assured her as they got to the car. Both of them gently put René at the back of the car and faye got in beside him.
Tanaka got into the driver's seat and started the car, driving them out of where the chaos had happened. Faye let René's head rest on her shoulders.
"Faye…." René called, his eyes closing. "I love you, i love you so much it hurts" he said closing his eyes. Tanaka turned back to look at René and hit the acceleration.
"René?" Faye called and turned to look at tanaka through the rearview mirror.
She felt his chest but couldn't feel his heartbeat and he wasn't breathing either.
"René?!" She yelled "his not breathing!!" She cried, gently laying his head back on the car seat, she knelt beside him in the little space and panickingly felt his neck,his wrist and chest.
Tanaka was speeding and trying not loose his mind. Faye was crying and yelling at him to driver faster.
"Hospital, we need to get to the hospital now!" She yelled in tears.
"No, we need to get him to father" Tanaka said.
"Father!!" Tanake called loudly ad he burst into the huge hall room with tall pillars ancient japanese carvings, he was holding faye's hand while two other men carried René's limp body.
"Tanaka?" An older man called looking confused. Faye was equally confused.
The man was tall and looked like René, faye turned to look at Tanaka's face. Now that she could see it, Tanaka looked like René too. Infact all three men had an uncanny resemblance to each other.
René was laid on a stone table with Ancient carvings that confused Faye. She read a japanese inscription on the side of the stone table.
'The circle of life begins and ends mysteriously'
This made her heart beat faster,was René going to die?
"What is this? What happened?" The older man asked in a worried voice glancing at both Tanaka and Faye then to their hands held together. Faye became shy and took her hand out of Tanaka's hold.
"Kenji Nakamura" Tanaka said without any further explanation but te older man's face contorted into one of rage.
"please.. René, he's stopped breathing a while ago" Faye tried to bring back attention to what she thought was most important at the moment.
The man walked over to René and ran his finger along the lines of the wound then the knife. He held the knife and drew it out of René's stomach and René gasped for air, coughing out blood from his mouth.
"René!" Faye called elated and tried to run to him but Tanaka held her back.
"Wait" he said firmly, holding her back in place. He had a serious look on his face.
She looked at his face but he was looking at the older man standing beside where René was laying, she followed his gaze in time to see the man raise a hand over the gruesome wound and a light whirled around the wound healing it completely. René coughed violently and Faye expected to see him cough out blood but this time it was very black liquid that came out of his mouth.
Tanake let her go and she ran to René's side.
"René…."she hugged him and he buried his face in her bosom weakly.
René's father looked at Faye completely lost for words. He signaled to the men who carried René out of the hall room and All of them followed behind.
René was gently laid on a huge bed and Faye knelt beside him holding his hand with one hand and gently massaging his forehead with the other hand.
"You are not supposed to be here" she turned her head to see René's father leaving the room immediately after uttering those words to her. She turned to look at Tanaka sadly but he gave her a gentle reassuring smile and also left the room.
Faye kissed René's pale knuckles and sighed. She laid her head on the bed where she knelt. All the scenarios of this day came rushing back to her head and she marveled at everything that had happened. It turns out she really had no idea about what was really going on. Kenji turned out to be an even dangerous superhuman being who had an unhealthy obsession with her. She really didn't even want to think about the fact that he had been inside her last night. She felt filthy, guilty and ashamed of herself. She wondered if René would still love her if he knew what kenji had done to her.
And why did Tanaka call René's father 'father'. What was really going on.
Her mind wandered to Daisuke,how was he doing? She hadn't seen her son for more than three days now and it made her feel sick. Something in the pit of her stomach made her feel like the worst mother ever but right now she also worried about René. All the fighting with Kenji didn't seem like it was just about her. It felt like René had completely forgotten who she was before he had been stabbed by kenji.
Why did René's father tell her she didn't belong here? Why did she sense something sinister in play and why did she sense the fear in his voice when he spoke to her?.
Her mind also wandered to her mother, right now she wanted to be with her family too. She wanted to hold her mother's hand and feel her love but she couldn't leave René like did.
All this thinking made her tired,her body felt sore and her mind blurry. She drifted off to sleep in the position she had been kneeling.
