Active dungeons are inter-dimensional areas where monsters can spawn, just like in a normal dungeon. The only difference with active dungeons is that if the dungeon master is not defeated, the active dungeon ends up consuming the area and has the potential to infect a city, possibly a country as well.

Hunting Guild dungeons exist to mostly train new hunters or to act as an easy money source for experienced hunters. The only 2 differences behind them is that they are less costly and even if hunters fail to kill the dungeon master, the dungeon will not consume an entire area.
