Everyone was afraid to confront the Alpha about his recent behavior, not even his Beta who was the closest companion to him. Charles dared not appear in his presence, for fear that he would discover he was the one who shared the link to his wedding video with Kate.
As for the Beta, he watched what was happening in silence.
It came up to the point that Kate couldn't keep quiet any longer, so she decided to act.
"I don't give a damn shit whether she's his fucking mate or whatever, I will drive her out of this estate!" She vowed as she left her room finally. She headed to her husband's apartment which he now shared with Lina.
As she approached, she saw Lina going into the room she once used to stay with her husband, it was their matrimonial room.
Lina held a tray of fruits chopped into pieces. She was going to make a fruit salad for Gary, it was obvious. This was her favorite delicacy while in bed with Gary. Then Lina used to prepare it.
It was so sad that she now had to be the one enjoying this with her husband while she had to stay alone and gloomy inside her room, gazing over at the window every day.
Kate hastened up, pulling her by the shoulder so violently that the tray fell and all of the fruits fell on the ground.
"Hey girl, what are you doing here?" She growled, with her eyes popping out so hard.
"I'm over there in my room, so sad and lonely and you think you can enjoy my husband. No!" She shook her head. "Not in my presence."
"You, old wife, I wonder why you should be so clingy. It's so disgusting!" Lina spat on her.
"Gary has shown many times he doesn't want you, still you persist. Don't you think you should pack your things and go out into the streets?"
"Go and die there with your bitterness!"
"I'm tired of seeing your ugly face in this house!" She spat on Kate. Kate couldn't believe that her little niece was talking to her this way just because she happened to become her husband's Luna.
As she bent to pack the fruits from the ground into the trash can since they couldn't be fed on again, Kate pulled her by the hair. Jacking her face up, she gave her a hard slap which sent her crashing to the ground.
It was at this point Alpha Gary came out. He had a white towel wrapped over his waist. He had beads of water streaming down his chest. His hair was messy. His chest was hard with his eight-pack abs making him look all sexy and hot.
His face was strong, his eyes turned red seeing his little mate on the floor.
He didn't say a word but dashed at Kate, giving her three slaps. Her cheeks turned red, her entire face got swollen. He kicked at her and she stumbled, falling to the ground. Kate groaned in pain.
He then rushed over to Lina.
"What's going on darling?" He was panting. "I can't believe this clingy fool pushed you to the ground."
Kate cried out. "I can't believe you would do this to me, you just came in and without knowing what happened between us, you descended on me." Her heart was pierced as she saw Gary petting Lina.
When he raised his head and shot her a glance, she shivered. He had so much hate in his eyes towards her.
"She said she's going to kill me if I don't leave this estate!" Lina lied after Gary raised her to her feet.
"What?" Gary gasped, about to descend on Kate again but Lina held him.
"Don't worry, I'll deal with her myself."
Lina stormed towards Kate, pushing her against the wall. Kate's knees were weak. Gary's beating had rendered her weak physically and emotionally. Even with her weakness, there was a fire in their hearts.
She pushed Lina's hands off her.
"Get your filthy hands off me!" She barked at her, pushing her away from her.
With this, Lina still walked towards her, Kate's eyes were filled with shock. She couldn't believe that her niece she helped could take this stance against her. Her heart was still into when they were mistress and maid.
The anger infuriated her, making her shift into her big gray wolf. "I'm gonna show you that I'm still your mistress, even when my husband is touching you!"
Lina was scared at first, but soon she found herself slowly shifting too. Gary glared at them, wishing Lina would beat Kate. He was ready to defend her in case the fight took another turn.
"What were you expecting before?" Lina mocked. "You didn't want him to touch his mate, but to come touch you, old girl?" Kate was five years old, she was more mature in appearance which made Lina refer to her as an old girl.
She scanned her body with prideful eyes then turned to look with disgust at Kate's. Her eyes were enough to pass on what she had in mind. Lina was mocking Kate, showing her how young and beautiful she was.
This, she did before she completely shifted to her radiant brown wolf.
Just then the Beta arrived to tell Gary important news only to catch the side of both Kate and Lina in their wolf form. It was a crime to shift inside the estate. Shifting could be done outside.
"What's happening here?" He growled. He was surprised to see the Alpha watch this without saying anything.
"Hey, stop. You two." He moved towards them to pull them apart but Gary grabbed him from behind, pushing him away.
"Who's asking you to pull them apart? Are you crazy?"
Fred stared at Gary with a puzzled gaze.
"You will not get away with this!" He snapped at Fred and walked away. He stormed out of the room, he couldn't contend with Alpha Gary's recent behavior.
Kate was about to storm out too when Gary grabbed her violently.
"How dare you treat my fated mate this way? Do you know she's greater than you in rank right now?"
This was the last thing Kate expected to hear. What she thought was happening right in front of her.
"But you said your mate doesn't stop me from being the Luna of this pack?" She reminded him with a smirk on her face. She was about to cry but seeing that Gary would be happy to see her hurt, she held back her tears. Instead of a tear, she held a smirk.
"How is that even possible when I've found my heart?"
"So you believed?" He chuckled, folding his arms across his chest.
"Oh God!" Kate exclaimed, raising her hands to her head. She looked at both of them with a cold smile, not saying a word.
His conscience hit him hard, even amid his disgust towards Kate, he was pushed to talk gently with her.
"I promise to hold you dear by my side, but my wolf beat for Lina. She's my mate and as the Alpha, I need her. I'm sorry, I can't help." He walked away from her to Lina. He draped his hand over Lina's shoulders, turned, and pulled her into a tight hug.
"I'm pretty sure I'll be removed as Luna soon, it's already obvious!" She shut her eyes so tight to prevent her from seeing Gary hugging Lina. She rose from the ground.
"Lina is here to stay. Perish whatever thought you have against her. You'll only be chasing after the wind!" Gary growled before leading Lina inside his bedroom.
"I don't want to see these when I come out," he pointed to the fruits on the floor. With this, he slammed the door hard in her face.
Kate remained there.
It didn't take long when she began to hear moans and groans coming from inside the room.
"Gosh! They are making out while I'm here, standing like a fool!"
She stormed off, kicking at the fruits to scatter more. She warned all of her maids not to touch it. She wanted to see what Gary would do when he eventually came out.
"I wouldn't turn to their slave, not in this house!"
"So sad! When someone you have becomes someone you used to have." Kate sighed, as she climbed into her bed. Thoughts of Gary and Lina making love recreated in her head. She tried to wipe it away, but it persisted.
This was a new life she had to endure, she didn't know for how long.
"So I'm not included in his future?" She sighed.
As she lay on the bed, she heard a knock on the door. This was three hours later.
"Come on, open this door!" It was the Alpha. "Why didn't you clean up that mess on the floor?"
Kate rose, walking to the door. She leaned on it without opening it. "Ask your mate to do that for you, she dropped it, so she has to clean it."
With this, she returned to her bed. Pulling her headphones over her ear, she folded her arms across her chest wilding away time while listening to music. Gary was at the door knocking, not knowing she wasn't even hearing.
"I have to punish her so hard so all this disrespect would end!" Lina balled her fist in support, she held a sinister grin on her lips.
Towards the evening, it was time for the President of the Alpha Council to visit. Bella, Kate's best friend, had made a post about the Alpha taking a new mate after he promised not to. She tagged the president in the post which got him to see it eventually.
She had made a promise to her best friend, and she had to fulfill it.
For the dinner which was an honor to welcome him, everyone had to be present. The Alpha was sitting with his mate, Lina. The Beta and Gamma with their mates were also present and three other senior members of the family were in attendance.
Kate arrived late. There was no seat in place for her, the Alpha didn't order for an extra seat. Even though Patrick was the President of the Alpha council, he was under Gary's control. This was the secret Bella didn't know but Kate knew.
"What's wrong between both of you?" He asked, deviating from Gary who was meant to be the center of focus. He didn't want to get him angry. The Beta and Gamma who also knew the truth couldn't help but keep quiet.
Kate smirked.
Lina, who had already thought of a perfect way to frame Kate, spoke out. "She threatened to kill me ever since I came back as Alpha Gary's mate. I've known no peace."
"Will you shut up, you liar!" Kate growled. She narrowed her eyes as she walked towards Lina. She couldn't understand why Lina of all people was doing this to her.
"You're saying this before the president? Faking up a statement I never made in my entire life?" She was about to slap her when Gary grabbed her arm, pushing it hard away.
"Apologize to Lina right now! You can't be a threat to her life, which I've been keeping quiet for some time now thinking you will change, only for you to attempt to assault her before everyone."
"This is an insult to my face!" He rose, heading towards Kate who stood still, not showing a single sign of fear.
The Beta rushed to grab him, he couldn't be present and watch him beat up the real Luna whom he knew she had been enduring.
"Kate, did you say that?" Patrick asked as he was watching the event as they unraveled in surprise.
"I will say no such thing!" Kate retorted.
Gary pulled her by the hair and forced her to her knees in front of everyone.
"You will get to apologize on your knees since you don't want to stand up!" Everyone gasped, and Lina grinned.
Kate stood up with force, giving him a hard slap on his face. She spits directly to his face.
"You're such a disgrace to manhood!"
The Beta cheered her for standing up to him, although he did it behind Gary's back. He didn't see it. Lina covered her mouth in horror.
