He sat on his seat. Kate was pissed by his attitude.
"I hate him!" She told her wolf. "He's acting too bossy and arrogant." She lowered her gaze, refusing to look at him any longer. Kate cleared her throat as she moved a step backwards.
"I have an issue I wanted to report to you," She put up a frown.
"What's that?" Lucius responded with an equally cold face. He clasped his hands together on the desk
"I had an issue with my husband," she began.
"What with him?" His lips went twisted with irritation. It seemed he was jealous. Kate could see the gaze, he was beginning to feel uncomfortable.
She smirked deep inside of her. Since he didn't want to see her admire him, she pretended to have moved on.
"Alpha Gary of the Delta Pack promised not to take another Luna when he married me but recently I watched how he took my niece as his wife. He claimed she's his fated mate but he...." her voice got choked up.
Lucius' eyes grew dull with concern. The depth of her husband's betrayal weighed her down and she sank to her seat. Tears had formed in her eyes, and coupled with the harsh way Lucius treated her, she was weakened.
"I'm gonna turn into a rogue soon!" She cried out to herself.
King Lucius walked over to her, standing behind her. Slowly he set his hand on her shoulder, Kate turned to look with shock.
"Hmm, I'm here for you......"
She stood up, rubbing her eyes. "Guess I'm dreaming?" She asked herself. It was real.
"It's no dream!"
She shook hearing him say this, there was no doubt. "I said this inside of me. How did he get to me if he isn't my mate."
"Then if it is, why is he denying it?" These thoughts cascaded on her mind, she couldn't get a response to them. Alpha Lucius was still staring, his gaze mixed with pity and concern.
"What changed him so suddenly?" She wondered. "Could it be my complaint of becoming a rogue?" It's only an enemy that would wish someone to become a rogue. It was a gruesome experience of rejection and lack.
Without notice, King Lucius circled his hand around Kate again. His scent descended on her so deeply, that she was wallowing in the aura of his presence.
She couldn't withstand it without sending out signals. Lucius' wolf was tormenting him, he couldn't abandon Kate even when his heart kicked against him taking a mate.
He needed a mate right since he got crowned but he hated commitment. Love was a fantasy to him, it never existed so he believed he didn't need it.
King Lucius is acclaimed to have never fallen for a girl, seeing himself pulled to Kate, was a mystery to him. He wanted to be stubborn but his wolf was growing stronger, breaking his wings.
"Hmm," he sighed.
"Well, I'm not prepared to take a mate now but I can't stay silent seeing you being humiliated. No!" He hit the table so hard that Kate shook in horror.
"It can't happen!"
Kate blinked her eyes with sorrow. She hated how she kept rejecting her indirectly. She took a deep breath, peering into her watch, she raised her eyes.
"I guess I should be going now, Your Majesty!" She took a bow and turned, she was ready to go away. Being clingy when she wasn't wanted was the last thing she would ever do, especially when it came to a man.
"Wait!"
She wondered if it was King Lucius saying this or if it was her imagination. He came behind her, she could feel his breath pouring on her shoulder.
"I will take revenge for you," he muttered with a needy voice.
"I'm so sorry, I couldn't say much between you and your husband, because..." He stammered. Kate wondered deep within her what he was going to say next.
"You're my mate!" She glared wide.
"I can't believe you said this, Your Majesty!"
This single statement rang deeply in her brain.
She couldn't say a word but just stood there, gasping, so he knew as well. She thought.
He smirked. "Hope to see you again," he added with a formal tone. Walking over, he sat on his seat, returning his attention to his computer.
Kate looked at him without shifting her gaze. He had a confusing personality, she couldn't tell if he was really into her.
She gulped down some saliva. Her concern was that she didn't get a result of what she initially came here for. What will happen when she returns to the pack estate? She wondered.
"Yes, Your Majesty!" She managed to answer his last statement, walking towards the door.
"Love that! Love you girl!"
She froze, almost releasing into her panties.
Kate rolled her eyes in wonder, she couldn't believe the last statement the king just made came out truly from him. She was giggling inside of her, she could tell herself she was turned on.
Hearing this from someone who never entertained the thought of love meant a lot.
"Gosh!" She screamed right inside of her. Her wolf was going crazy. She waited for a while, smiling at this before she opened the door and walked out, shutting it slowly behind her.
She giggled once out, she quickly pulled out her phone and scribbled into Bella's WhatsApp number.
"I've got some great news for you, baby girl!"
"Hey, what's up Kate? Did he lay you?"
"Hey, shut!!!!!! You naughty girl!"
Bella burst out into a long, wild laughter.
"Please come down quickly, I can't wait to hear this exciting good news! What did I tell you?" Bella boosted.
"He even said he can't wait to see me again. He said he loves me," Kate narrated to her best friend as she arrived at the waiting room where Bella was.
"Oh my goodness! What great news." Her face lit up with radiant blushes, she already imagined Gary's pain when he realized this.
"Let's go, baby, we can't wait to show this off to them!"
"Wait!" Kate pulled Bella back. "I'm not gonna let them know so soon."
"We should pretend like though what they do doesn't bother us, from here Gary would want to know what's amidst. Then we will reveal."
"Mind you," She warned. "Fate will tell the story, not words!" Bella nodded.
Upon returning to the pack estate, Kate's lifestyle changed drastically. Just as she told Bella, she showed no interest in the romantic love affair between her husband and his mate.
She now acted like an outsider.
This indifferent behavior affected Gary and called for his urgent concern.
General dining was or has again before the command of the Alpha, he wanted to watch Kate more closely. Her behavior has been weird ever since she returned from the King's palace. Gary wasn't aware of the thud though.
There was a seat reserved for her this time. She went over and sat quietly, where all the immediate senior members of the Alpha's family were present. Alpha Gary and his new mate, Lina sat at the center, on both ends of the rectangular table. Kate sat in the middle.
She greeted everyone with a smile, a gesture which caused many to sit up, wondering what was prompting her foreign mode.
Smiles weren't part of her attitude, since Lina came in as the new Luna. Alpha Gary shrugged his shoulders upon observing Kate for a long time. She began to eat, not looking at anyone.
Lina thought she was gonna start another quarrel but to her surprise, when their eyes locked, she smiled.
She scoffed, not saying a word. Even with her ignoring Kate, she didn't put up a frown.
"We should find out what's going on within Kate, she's acting too weird," Lina's mind linked with Gary.
"Trust me! I'm gonna find out."
"Or has she accepted me fully?" Lina guessed.
"No, I don't think so!" Gary responded. "Perhaps she has some sinister plans." He suspected. Lina doubted. It wasn't until she behaved this way that she planned revenge. Lina took a second look at her, her smiles didn't seem fake and she passed on this point to Gary, asking him to look deeper himself.
"Then if it's real, why is she acting this way? She has moved on?" Gary was so lost in thought that he ate absentmindedly until his spoon slipped through his fingers, dropping on the table and sliding to the ground. He jerked up, coming back to his senses.
One of the waitresses called to come and replace it.
"Lina baby, you didn't care to wait for your aunt?" Kate spoke up as she saw Lina finish up with her meals and get up without waiting for the rest on the table. She stopped, glaring at Kate, not knowing whether to ignore her or to reply to her.
Gary watched the unfold of the event with his heart beating so fast, that he paused eating to better observe the aura between them. Kate had addressed Lina in a friendly style, something which had never happened before. The relatives whispered to each other about this.
"I am so sorry, Luna," Lina sniffled, her heart full of mockery. She was suspicious seeing her rival returning with this strange treatment towards her.
"Don't mind me, that's not a big deal!" Kate rushed towards her and gave her the biggest of hugs from the back, holding her tight. "We don't want to be enemies again, right?" She asked, staring straight at Lina, who nodded.
"Good then! Let's stop acting as rivals henceforth!"
Lina froze, she stood there in Kate's arms without any emotion. The room filled with awkward silence. One of the relatives at the table dropped a fork. Kate noticed this from the corner of her eye, she was shocked to notice it was her best friend, Bella who was shocked as well even when she knew of Kate's new lifestyle.
If Bella was shocked, then who could escape this emotion?
Bella was shocked because she saw Kate live out this so perfectly. She wondered if she was just feigning this as they agreed or if it was real. She stopped hating Lina?
"My girl," Kate spoke, pulling herself off Lina with a smile, she sighed with a sad smile on her face, "I can call you that, right? I want you to know that this is a safe place for you. No one will ever hurt you, not even me." She promised.
"I want you to have a great haven in your mate's arms. If the moon goddess detected this for you both, then I'm perfectly fine with it!" She maintained a clear face.
"As my niece, I'll once again be that loving aunt that will continue to take care of you."
Bella waved her hand, asking Kate to stop.
"She's making a fool of herself before the Alpha and his mate!" She grunted. If not that people were much here and were watching, she would go over to her seat and seal her mouth with her palms.
Alpha Gary furrowed his eyes. "Is something going on which I don't know?" He asked with curiosity when Kate spent too much time speaking to Lina. He walked towards them.
Kate grazed her eyes quickly over the room to see stunned expressions on the faces of her pack mates, family, and Bella. She now realized how long she had stood in the middle of the room talking with Lina, who didn't say much out of wonder.
They ignored Alpha Gary who was eager to hear what they were saying more fluently. As he sat at the extreme seat on the table, he could only observe the movement of lips and cordial gestures.
Suddenly, Lina threw herself into Kate's arms again.
"Thank you, aunt!" she smiled. "I'm so sorry for those times I insulted you and joined with Alpha Gary to humiliate you." She wanted to kneel but Kate prevented her.
"It's okay!" Deep inside Kate's heart, she doubted if she could let Lina go scot-free without giving her a dose of revenge even though she no longer bore a grudge against her.
Lina's eyes radiated with joy, it couldn't be hidden. Why wouldn't she be glad when her rival was now giving her liberty, assurance, and friendship? It was indeed a miracle she didn't expect in her wildest dreams.
"I was sure that the nightmare in which I lived in this estate was for life, not knowing it would end so soon." She curtsied before Kate once again. People wanted to see the end of this drama, they were watching keenly. It was too quick to be true.
