Whereas things were going pretty well for Lex on his side.
Unlike the duo, he choose to explore the tenth section directly after sensing a weak and bizzare energy signature.
His gaze swept the area and he could indeed see quite a few zombies eyeing him but unfortunately they were to weak and he was lazy to kill them.
'Not even a tyrant' Lez thought and clicked his tongue in irritation as he made his way towards the weak fluctuating aura he sensed
[We're being followed by food] a faint whisper sounded in his mind
"Be patient, you'll get to eat very soon" Lex muttered without so much as glancing around, his sensitivity to origin was far beyond the norm
The area was teeming with several weak zombies that he could not bother wasting time with.
Be it small carnivorous or small poisonous insects and reptiles, he avoided them by blending in the shadows to avoid attracting unwanted attention
Soon he came to a stop near a clearing and narrowed his eyes at what laid before him, the carcass of a large humanoid creature.
It's pungent smell was what attracted him to it and it's state showed it had died quite some time ago.
As he approached it to investigate, his shadows dispersed into the surrounding seemly in search of something
Lex crouched down in front of the carcass and ignored the pungent smell as he looked over it's rotting body. 'punctured marks... the flesh has rotted too much for me to narrow down what they could belong to though.' His brow furrowed as tried to find other clues but the carcass was in too bad a state.
"The residue origin that could have been left from the attack has also dissipated..." Lex stood up and gave up trying to get answers from this, however right his dispersed shadows returned as he gained a new information
[More dead food] the hoarse whisper sounded and Lex immediately increased the scope of his senses.
The pungent smell he stood near became far more dense but he could now also smell similar yet faint smells emanating from different directions deeper into the building
Without wasting time he went to investigate each one, he was in no rush as the smell already indicated they were dead for sometime.
Rushing would only lead to possibly missing important signs not only of the carcasses but the surrounding traces the perpetrator left
It held large and tall scattered green leafy trees with grass and flora that reached up to one's knees, making it hard to transverse through. The lack of trails clearly showed that people never made their way this deep into the forest many times.
Lex had spent about an hour carefully examining each carcass along with the surrounding areas for tracks or even signs of that the attacking creature may have left.
A creatures urine could sometimes be used to track it if ones sense of smell was good enough but unfortunately he couldn't find even this.
Though he did find several destroyed vines and gelatinous fluids
"I can't tell at the moment, most likely a carnivorous plant because I didn't see any signs of flesh bitten away from the carcasses which means it attempted to swallow it's prey whole"
"It's target must have been this group of creatures from the crack but they proved resilient and so it couldn't overpower them leading to both sides sustaining injuries. All we can do now is check every now and then for fresh traces, there's a high chance it will attack again." Lex explained to seemly nobody as he continued his track unhurriedly but purposeful
A few moments later a shrill cry broke the silence
With the aid of his shadows, finding signs of people was extremely easy and soon he discovered a group who seemed to be scavenging for utilities but encountered some problems
The group had eight people, the weakest seemed to be a pair of twins who specialized in healing and enchanting while the rest at the front were fighters with mages at the middle.
Whenever a member was in mortal danger, the blonde-haired twin would use her talent, which would could instantly heal small wounds while the other dark-haired twin applied buff effects on them increasing their attack and defence
Leading them was a tall youth clad in grey cloak holding a pair of long swords as he decapitated several zombies in his way
At a glance they seemed to be very powerful and among the strongest considering the apocalypse just occurred and they must have faced several dangerous situations and gained atleast some basic combat experience
The enemies the battled was compromised of several basic zombies numbering more than twenty as well as tyrants
In terms of strength, the group were much weaker than their attacker and looked as they could barely handle the situation
The huge rodents weren't very strong. They weren't even as strong as the mutated poison rats, much less the green pythons.
However, their numbers were extremely huge. Lex could see more than a twenty of them at a glance and with the noise being so loud, it's expected more are to come
Apart from that, the huge tyrant was on a whole other level, their leader might be able to defeat one but killing several at once proved to be impossible.
Just in terms of attributes, although it couldn't compare to the the present him, it was already extremely powerful compared to other Awakened
After all, not everyone could be a freak like him.
With that thought, Lex had a smug smile on his face while he calmly waited to see what the group will do
At this moment, the tall youth shouted "This won't do. There are too many of them and even several tyrants. You guys should quickly retreat!"
As he said this, the group obeyed the order as they steadily fought while retreating while their leader exerted himself to distract the tyrants, but that too wouldn't last for long as he could barely deal any damage to their tough fleshy body.
However, at this moment, one of the tyrants that was smaller that the others displayed a shocking speed as it instantly arrived behind the retreating group blocking their path of retreat.
One of the quicker warriors instantly used a skill thinking he could kill it or atleast wound it considering it was smaller in stature than the others
°Heavy Slash°
His sword tore the air as it landed on the head of the little tyrant but to his shock, no damage nor even a scratch was left on the tyrant's skin
Unfazed, the tyrant slapped the warrior and sent him flying while it's long tongue instantly captured the dark-haired twin who with weak physical stats couldn't resist
Frozen in fear, the dark-haired twin couldn't move as she simply accepted her fate with closed eyes
A faint whisper sounded in her mind telling her to call it's name, though near death she summoned her courage and spoke a an unknown word "$#@/()@##)@)#"
In an instant
Whoosh---
A powerful kick smashed the tyrants head and drove directly into the ground with such force that it's neck directly cracked as its body spammed and wiggled before turning silent
"So, you're the lowborn hybrids that commands this fellows here?"
The whole group was stunned as they turned to look at the person who appeared from nowhere and killed a tyrant with a casual stomp
The youth was tall with a slim stature visible even though he was covered in a long white cloak, shoulder length white hairs with light blue eyes shimmering with an ethereal light but that couldn't hide the disdain and contempt present in those seemly cold and unfeeling eyes even though he had a smile on his lips.
