During their return, they used an SUV aiding them avoid confrontation with what the system called 'failed humans' on their way but they refrained killing them due to their over population and because it was not beneficial.
'This area became empty, huh…' Zephyr thought as his eyes caught sight of a huge tower like structure in the far distance
Zephyr was looking at a giant tower whose peak was not visible. 'What the heck is that big tower..... don't tell me it's a-'
"Surprised, it's a tower or dungeon as in games.Even we were surprised when we saw them but it's Abit far to go there and the zombies there are many times more evolved than the ones here" Laura explained after seeing the surprised expression of Zephyr
''Is it near Phoenix City?''
"Yes, and as you know phoenix city houses more ten million people and so..." She didn't need to finish her speech to understand,
"So phoenix city is off limits till we're stronger eh"
After ten minutes of driving on the highway, they arrived at the nearest college campus.
It was built on a barren land 800 meters across the main highway leading into Phoenix City.
As they entered the road leading to the campus entrance, Zephyr saw three zombies with burst brains and open stomach 'It seems that other people also had the same idea and arrived at this campus since it's a safe area without population at this time of the night, though not actually safe, it's better than being alone'
…
Behind the campus entrance gate, two students and two grown men with guns stood guarding. They heard a cars sound and soon saw an SUV approaching them.
"Stop!"
The two grown men wearing police uniforms pointed their pistols toward the SUV and shouted.
"It's us, we're back" said a boy among us
"Oh Lex you guys are back, it's good your here cause we have a problem"
"What's the matter" asked Lex not bordering to hide his irritation
"Eh...it's the basement, the noises in the basement are getting farther frequent and it seems they're almost about to break out" said one of the students in a slightly panicked tone
"Oh....I'll deal with it later, for now let me rest" said Lex as he entered the campus and disappeared from our view leaving an awkward silence
"Sigh don't mind him, that's how he always is. At the end he is still a good guy at heart" said Laura trying to cheer up the mood
'A good guys at heart eh' Zephyr inwardly sneered at her words
"Sorry, I'm very busy now and can't show you around so just follow the others and get a room you think suits you" saying that, Laura left to tend to other matters
Zephyr simply followed the others into the campus and found a room he deemed suitable
The rooms were simple but cozy, with a tranquil atmosphere that calmed Zephyr
As he settled into his new surroundings, he felt slightly uncomfortable due to the smell of blood but it didn't deter him from resting
After a quick nap to rest up, Zephyr opened his eyes to find himself staring at the dark ceiling of his room. The candles in the room were all blown out, of course, giving off the impression that he was indeed sleeping, but really, all he did was doze a bit.
Gently but swiftly, he moved his blankets off of his body and rose from the bed, before stepping towards the window and quietly opening it up
The atmosphere hit him like a truck—the slight chill of the night breeze, the loud noise of rain falling , and the full moon hidden by the cloudy atmosphere high above in the dark sky where the sun was during the day
Given all of these features, he surmised the time was now deep into the night
The silent raining only confirmed that further, so if he wanted to pull something off, now was the best time.
Moving back to his bedside, he neatly stuffed a pillow underneath in his place just in case anyone came to check on him. It wasn't a very good disguise by any means, but he was doubtful anyone would come check given everyone is preoccupied with surviving
With that done, he slipped out of the front doors quietly, taking care not to make as little noise as possible
He moved nimbly, and after looking both ways, he exited the dorm onto the pathway right outside making sure to be silent as possible
"How cold..." Zephyr shivered slightly when he felt the cold temperatures of the outside world
Although the interior of the dorm wasn't particularly warm, the building insulated the strong gusts of near-freezing wind and protected them from the constant rain
The existed a Hospital not far from the University and with his current skills, it wasn't hard to get there
Normally, an hour walk was enough to get there. After all, the hospital was a private property of Tempest CORP.
Yes, it was owned by Zephyr's family but later abandoned for some unknown reasons and that's why he decided to take a look, after all the hospital that contained most of the medicines and healing measures usable during this period, and maybe he might be able to build his base there considering that he didn't like staying in someone else's home turf
The zombies that he met were casually slain by him, as easy as slicing vegetables after earning him a wave of origin points
But, if a normal person wanted to reach the hospital under such environmental conditions and with so many dangers, he or she would definitely die miserably without even knowing what had happened to him or her.
His surrounding became dense with fog due to the heavy raining making it difficult for him to know his surrounding. Still he continued moving towards his destination.
After another five minutes in which more than twenty finally saw the small building where medicines and other medical-related items were kept.
Zephyr kicked open the door and a shadow shot out towards him.
The shadow's speed was very fast, even an experienced evolved person could fall as the attack was too sudden.
