Chapter 15 - The Vipers

"Shit! What happened here?" Amy asked as she saw the door to her house smashed in and several pieces of furniture broken.

Seeing Zac's unconscious and injured body lying here and there, her eyes widened as she rushed to his side. "Zac!"

Seeing Amy scared and worried about Zac, Kai closed his eyes and sighed deeply. "He's fine. I don't know exactly what happened here, but he just seems to have passed out from exhaustion. He'll be fine after a night's sleep."

"Exhausted? Don't fuck with me, Kai! My brother was attacked by your fucking group mates! I'm not doing anything for you anymore!" Amy yelled as she glared at Kai.

This reaction was to be expected, so Kai didn't take her words seriously. "No, he was hit in the back and one of his arms. But he's fine. I checked his body when I came here. You don't have to worry."

He walked to her side and took her by one of her arms, pulling her closer to him.

Taking Amy's face by the chin, he touched her cheek and said earnestly. "Forget what happened here today and make that brat do the same. I'll handle the situation so it doesn't happen again."

She gritted her teeth but said nothing.

"If any cops come, make it clear that it was all a misunderstanding and that you've already explained it to other authorities. If they ask you anything else, act like you don't know anything. Everything will be fine after two or three days if you do that." He said as he walked to the side of her door.

"Someone will fix your door in no more than half an hour. You don't have to pay. It's a courtesy from the boss."

Kai left after saying that, leaving Amy finally alone with Zac.

...

After leaving the building where Amy and Zac lived, Kai soon had an important call with his boss.

"Boss, it's me, Kai." He said as he walked to his car. "There was a problem with Amy and her brother. I was forced to take action against our own men."

"What happened?" A quiet voice asked him.

"I can't even explain it properly. But do you remember the message you gave me earlier about that brat Dario getting into trouble with Amy's brother? Well, when I went to their apartment to make sure they didn't overdo the lesson they were going to give him, I ran into one of those fools while he had a fucking gun pointed at Zac's head."

"What?" The voice on the line with Kai rose in surprise.

"I don't know exactly what happened, but we'll find out soon enough. I've sent two of those fools to our doctor. I'll take their statements when they're fit enough to talk."

"What about the other two? We left four of my men in Darius' hands."

"One was the man I shot to prevent the death of Amy's brother. The other was already dead when I arrived at her apartment." Kai said in a strange tone. "I think that little shit Zac managed to hit such a fool on the head."

"Oh? I didn't expect that kid to have what it takes for it..."

"Neither did I."

"All right, have you guaranteed that no one will know what happened?"

"Yes, boss."

"Make sure you find out exactly why one of them decided to go against my orders. I'll get Dario to stop bothering this boy for the time being. Get Amy to cooperate by advising her brother to stay away from Dario as well." The Vipers' leader said before the two ended the call.

Putting away his smartphone, Kai got into his car and drove to the secret medical clinic where the two men had been sent.

...

Meanwhile, in an upscale neighborhood of Walney, a well-dressed man hung up the phone he had just been talking on and looked in front of him.

There stood a blind man, middle-aged, dressed as a butler, the only one besides him in this dark office, reeking of cigarette smoke.

"Did you know that that Zac guy Dario got involved with was Amy's brother?" The strong-looking man in front of the blind man asked.

"No. I knew Amy had a brother because he's why she agrees to do what she does. But I had no idea that Dario was involved with him." Said the blind man while he had his eyelids closed and a calm expression on his face.

"But that was my mistake. I should have paid more attention to the situation. Don't worry, I'll take care of it for you, boss."

"What do you have in mind? Amy has nothing to lose but her brother. She won't continue to serve me if something happens to him." The leader of The Vipers said.

He didn't have time to deal with the subject of two teenagers. When he said he would take care of Dario, he meant that one of his men would do it for him.

"I'm going to put Dario in his place and tell him that the problem with Zac is over. I don't want to hear about it after today, and he should stay away from Amy's little brother. At least until she has no more use for us." He said as he moved his eyelids and showed his white eyes to his boss.

"As for Zac, he killed one of us, but we'll let that pass this time. In the meantime, I'll keep an eye on him. If he shows any suspicious behavior, we'll deal with him when Amy is no longer of value to us."

"Hmm, you should do that. I hope I don't have to hear any more about these kids..." The leader of this group got up from his chair and walked to his office balcony.

If Zac saw this person on the balcony of this building, he would be completely dumbfounded.

That was the Legislative Assembly of his city!

"Don't worry, you won't hear any more about this Zac kid, boss."

...

The next morning, Zac slowly woke up in his bed after passing out the night before.

When he opened his eyes with difficulty and realized where he was, he immediately felt his heart beat faster and got up quickly, afraid that the bandits from yesterday were still there.

He couldn't understand how he was still alive after more than one of his intruders had tried to kill him last night. But he didn't think much of it and walked carefully to the entrance of his house.

When he got there and saw everything clean and tidy, the door in the place it should be, he almost doubted what had happened the night before.

But when his sister saw him standing there and ran up to hug him, he was sure he hadn't been delirious while imagining absurd things in his sleep.

Everything he remembered had actually happened!

'Damn you, Dario! You'll pay for what happened here!' He thought as he listened to his sister's sobs.
