Chapter 16 - Amy's Advice

After a while of crying on Zac's shoulder, happy that he was okay despite what had happened the night before, Amy tried to pull herself together and get serious.

"Zac, we have to talk about what happened last night. Do you remember what happened? When I returned, I found you passed out in the living room." She said, wiping her eyes with a handkerchief as she looked into her brother's clear eyes.

"I remember some things..." Zac said vaguely, not wanting to scare his sister about the fact that those men had shown an interest in using her to hurt him.

"Zac, when I went out yesterday, I met Kai before I went to buy our food and come home. He accompanied me home when we found you unconscious and some men in our apartment." She lied, afraid that her brother would think she was involved with these people and the affair the night before because of Kai's warning.

"Kai helped me to solve the situation so that we wouldn't have any problems with those men or the police, but we have to forget what happened last night." She said seriously. "And if a policeman comes to our house and asks about the call initiated by the neighbors, we have to say that it was a misunderstanding and other policemen have already taken care of the case.

You can't tell anyone what happened yesterday. If you do, we'll have problems with Kai's police friends and the group of people who attacked you". She took his hands and squeezed them as she said this.

Amy knew better than Zac how dangerous The Vipers were!

She didn't want him to get into any more trouble with those people, so she couldn't help but be emphatic with her brother.

Zac looked at Amy's hands clasping one of his arms and imagined how frightened she must have been by the things that were happening around him.

"I'm sorry to worry you, Amy. I'll do my best to make sure it doesn't happen again." He said as he looked down, a little embarrassed.

"Just forget that this Dario exists and do as I say. Pretend that the night before never happened and stay away from that boy. Ordinary people like you and me can't expect much from this world, Zac. We only have each other now, so don't take any unnecessary risks." She sighed as she said this.

Zac agreed to go through with it to calm Amy down. But he had no intention of forgiving anyone or forgetting what had happened the night before.

He then asked. "What did you and this man find here when you returned? I swear I thought something worse was going to happen to me when I fainted."

Amy didn't know what had actually happened in the apartment, so she told Zac the lie Kai had told her. "When I got home, I found one man unconscious and another crying in pain.

I stayed by his side and didn't know how Kai resolved the matter. But it's a fact that he took those two away and then fixed the door here at home."

"Two men?" He asked with a doubtful expression. 'Four men attacked me, and I'm sure that two of them were unconscious, and one of them was incapacitated when I collapsed... What happened to the last one? Did he take one of those three with him? But why didn't he kill me?'

"Yes, two men." Amy didn't know that there were four people, let alone that Zac had killed one of them and Kai another.

'Those two men were probably the one I kicked in the groin and one of the two I managed to knock down... Shit, that's a problem.' Zac imagined that, for whatever reason, the last of those men had taken only one ally with him. Hence, there would surely be reprisals for what he had done.

'Damn you, Dario. You weren't just playing with me! You want to kill me because of a misunderstanding!' He clenched his fists, but this time, he didn't cause the electrical phenomena in his surroundings that he had caused before.

The control over his powers he had gained so far was not something temporary but something permanent. The more he improved his control through meditation, the less he would unintentionally expose his abilities!

"All right, Amy. I'll continue to study and go to the martial arts gym for the next few days of suspension I have left. When I return to school, I'll stay away from Dario." He said as he stood up, hungry because he hadn't eaten since the night before.

She smiled at him and went back to the kitchen. "I prepared something for you. Come and eat."

As he ate his meal in silence, Zac thought back to the fight the night before, how he had done things he didn't know he was capable of, and he couldn't help but be aware of his current physical state.

Even though he had been kicked and beaten with baseball bats the night before, he felt no pain in his body!

'I guess I underestimated myself. My body must also be stronger and tougher than the average person's, and I can do more than just handle electricity and see through things...' He commented to himself with a mysterious look on his face.

'Although calmness and meditation seem essential for controlling one's powers, risky situations are necessary to bring out the best in me.' He remembered how he had acted instinctively at times the night before.

'That could be the key to becoming stronger and solving my problems! If I go after those bloody thugs from The Vipers and Dario, I'll probably become strong enough to take revenge, protect Amy, and give her better opportunities.' He looked lovingly at his beautiful older sister. 'She deserves to get out of this shitty life.

Thinking about these things, he soon finished eating, and Amy said goodbye to him and went to work.

It was 9 a.m., so Zac used the time until he had to train at the gym to meditate and try to understand himself better.

He had already studied enough the previous days to not have to study all next week, so he was ready to spend a good part of this day meditating.

But not long after Amy left, two policemen knocked on his door to get information about the call from the night before.

Zac didn't know it, but they were Kai's friends. But he had no intention of involving the police in his affairs, so he would easily pass their 'test.'
