Chapter 19 - Zac's Return

Three days have passed quickly since the chaos in front of The Nomad...

Zac had created a new routine for himself after getting involved in a street fight in front of The Nomad that day. In the morning, he meditated, and then in the early afternoon, he went to the martial arts gym to train.

In the early evening, he would read a few books at home while Amy was with him, and as soon as she went to bed, he would leave the house to look for trouble.

He would stay out on the streets as long as he needed to until he came across some people who were looking for trouble or had bad intentions. When he encountered someone like that, he would fight back and then return home with a smile on his face.

After a good night's sleep, he would do the same thing the next day.

After the first confrontation in front of The Nomad, he improved his martial arts skills and his ability to recognize troublesome people.

With further fights, he learned to improve his control over his powers and also to understand his abilities better.

On the first night back home, after looking for trouble, Zac did not show Amy the physical discomfort he felt after his fight. He was fine the following day, but it hurt a lot until he fully recovered.

He hadn't shown any signs of this before because he had been unconscious on other occasions. But this time, he was conscious enough to suffer while he recovered.

His stamina was excellent, and his regeneration was enough for him to have no injuries or signs the next morning that would give away what he had done.

That's why he managed to hide his nocturnal adventures during those days, while Amy had no idea what her brother was up to.

After three nights of looking for trouble and three more days of training and meditation, Zac had improved his strength, resistance to pain, recovery speed, and agility in combat.

So he was finally ready to return to school the next day when he went to sleep after another night of trouble!

...

The following day, Zac woke up well before his sister, something he had been doing more of lately.

Waking up early gave him a special kind of strength, something strange that seemed to make his days better.

When Amy awoke, she found her brother finishing a pan of scrambled eggs with toast and coffee.

"You should let me make these things, Zac." She smiled at him as she walked over to her brother to kiss him.

Zac hadn't completely controlled his sight, but he had managed to control his thoughts after days of dealing not only with his beautiful sister but with the many naked people he saw on the streets, at the school, and in places where he sought confusion.

"Good morning, Amy." He smiled as he placed his eggs on his plate and quickly sat down to eat.

After five minutes of devouring his three pieces of toast and three eggs, he quickly went to the bathroom to wash up before getting dressed for school after days away from such a place.

"Don't forget what we talked about that day, Zac. Stay out of trouble with Dario and his buddies." Amy reminded him as he picked up his backpack and stopped to tie his shoes at the door. "I don't think they'll try to go after you like they did before, but that brat is a pain in the ass. He may try something."

'I hope he does.' Zac thought to himself as he smiled and said in a calm tone. "Don't worry. I won't do anything unless I have to, Amy."

"Sigh! Have a good class."

Zac set off and quickly arrived at Eastside High School, where dozens of students were arriving and others were already chatting on the outskirts of the school.

Those who knew Zac or had heard the rumors about his problems with Dario turned their gazes to him when they saw him, while Mia couldn't help but stop and look at him differently.

"What is it, Mia? Looking at him like that will give him opportunities." Said a dark-haired girl next to the beautiful blonde.

"That's not what you think," Mia told her best friend. "Something happened to him."

"It did happen, haha. He got into a really bad fight with Dario, and now he's about to be expelled." The tall, tanned girl beside Mia laughed, imagining that her friend was talking about this.

"No, I heard he joined a martial arts gym," Mia commented seriously, while she noticed that Zac's posture was utterly different.

He still looked skinny and nerdy. But he seemed more confident, and there was something strange in his eyes, as if he had changed from a prey to a predator.

"Oh? Clumsy Zac is learning to fight? I'd like to see that, haha."

"Not me." Mia sighed when she saw Zac looking at her. "I feel almost nothing towards him, but it would be a shame if he got into more trouble. I think he's going down a bad path."

"And what difference does it make to you? We won't see him again in a year or two, Mia."

"It will make a difference..." She muttered to herself before taking a few steps towards Zac, smiling as she spoke to him. "Good morning, Zac. How are you doing? Ready to go back to school?"

He looked into her eyes a little differently than the last time he had seen her, less silly than before but still with some of his old ways.

It wasn't so easy to change certain habits!

"Good morning. I'm fine. I've been busy the last few days, but I was looking forward to returning to studying." Zac commented with a modest smile on his face, looking at Mia and his surroundings. "Has anything happened while I was away?"

"Nothing important... But you should stay away from Dario. I don't think he'll bother you anymore if you take precautions."

"I doubt that." The black-haired girl said with a smile on her face. "Zac, be careful. Dario isn't the type to stay out of trouble just because someone told him to."

That was the truth, and Zac couldn't help but agree. Maybe his sister, Kai, or even the leader of The Vipers wanted it all to be over and had told both sides to stay out of trouble.

But Dario was the kind of person who liked to cause trouble and mess with anyone who was quiet.

'It'll be too much if he stays away from me for a week.' Zac thought, knowing Mia's friend wasn't helping him with that but rather trying to scare him.

'But so be it. If he wants to come after me, he'll taste the bitterness of a terrible mistake!'
