[Connected]

Anna watched from the monitoring room as the door to the first level, Fey Night, disappeared. In its place stood a large glowing tunnel.

"It's time to inform the others." Anna said.

The gnome king concentrated as he spoke. "The connection has been established. Expect enemy contact at any moment."

Max stood in the pine forest of the first level. Up ahead many fey were hidden ready to act. The elves blended in with nature, ready to strike. The orcs… they weren't ones for hiding. They stayed in their trenches readying their weapons, waiting for the order to attack.

At the edge of the forest, before the clearing, Sigmund waited and watched.

The Dungeon Master of Goblin Mines stood before his horde of goblins. Hizon, the Hobgoblin, the ruler of this dungeon addressed his people.

"This new upstart has no idea what is coming for him!" He shouted to the goblins who were getting excited. "This area is ours. It is there unfortunate fate to have a dungeon near us. We have taken down small start up before, this will be no different. They are nothing compared to our numbers. Let's show this dungeon exactly why goblins are called the scourge of the land. Overrun their defenses, tear down their walls, and pull them out by the root. We goblins have no reason to hide from those fey and their tricks."

The goblins before him cheered as they raised their weapons.

Hizon the hobgoblin raised his hands to quiet the crowd.

"Gorg." Hizon called out.

A goblin who was close to evolving stepped forward.

"Yes Mater."

"You will take our men and lead the charge. Show those dirty fey that the goblin horde fears none."

"Yes Master." The goblin said.

"Good, now go. I will bring up the rear."

Gorg turned to the goblins that would lead the assault. "We have several hundred meters of grassland to cover before we reach the forest in the enemy dungeon. But these are sneaky fey. Cross the grass quickly and then flood the forest. From what we learned, we just have to push to the end of the forest to find the boss."

Gorg then walked towards the glowing white tunnel that appeared at the entrance of the dungeon.

"For the MINES!" He shouted before running through.

"For the mines!"

"For the mines!"

"For the mines!"

Thousands of shouts rang out with him as the goblins charged through with their leader.

Gorg made it through the tunnel of light and was surprised. This looked much different from the dungeon they had checked last night before they made the final decision to enact the Dungeon Battle.

Across the large field that separated him from the forest, he found several trench lines. These trenches were filled with orcs. That shocked the goblin. This was supposed to be a fey dungeon. Could this dungeon master have somehow captured a large clan of orcs to work for him?

Grog shook aside those thoughts.

He waited a moment as the horde of goblins slowly materialized behind him.

Once the space was starting to become crowded, he ordered.

"Charge!"

The low-level goblins ran past him with their crude spears.

"For the Mines!" A small goblin yelled as he ran with hundreds of others towards the trenches.

Sigmund calmly smoked his pipe while standing at the tree line. He had given the orc war chief instructions to stay put until the goblins were in range. Once they were less than 20 feet from the trenches he could act freely, till then he would wait.

The satyr hoped the bloodthirsty orcs could follow his direction, but even if they didn't, it wasn't too big of a deal to him.

The half goat half man nodded to the elven prince who lead the clan of elves.

Elroband, the Prince of the elves, received the command. He joined his people who were at the edge of the forest. He was pleased to be participating in this battle. Elroband was aware that his clan was the smallest one under their boss. They didn't have as many people as the orcs, gnomes, or undead.

While it was true the fey had similar numbers, the fey also had 3 boss class creatures and they were lead by Sigmund, the powerhouse. This was his chance to prove the worth of the elves.

"Take aim."

50 elves drew back their long bows. As thousands of goblins charged across the field.

"Fire."

Arrows flew into the night sky that covered Fey Nights. The full moon hanging in the sky did little to illuminate the arrows that were descending towards the horde. Before the first wave of arrows had struck, another had already been launched into the sky.

Gorg narrowed his eyes as screams rang out among the horde. He saw a number of goblins collapse and then were trampled by their brethren.

A few seconds later it happened again. He realized it was most likely it was archers. But there was nothing he could do.

His master had only given him the low-level goblins. He had no casters, or healers. He only had grunts. It was his job to flood the dungeon and use goblin wave tactics to defeat the enemy.

While hidden archers weren't good, he took relief that more goblins were exiting the portal compared to dying by arrows.

Grog did feel a moment of fear when hundreds of roars swept across the field.

The orc war chief roared with his clan as they leapt from the trenches and into the battlefield.

Although the orcs only numbered 200 compared to the many thousand goblins swarming towards them. They were three times the size of the little creatures and they were beings of muscle and battle. Goblins may be a scourge on the land, but orcs were tyrants of a battlefield.

"For the Honor of Crag!" The war chief roared while raising his large double side axe.

*Woosh*

He swung and cut through 3 goblins at once. His brothers and sisters in his clan quickly joined the melee.

Gorg could see the large orcs easily over the heads of his own. They blocked the way but not completely.

"Push through!" He yelled to the horde. "Push past the orcs and flood the forest."

Even though hundreds of goblins were dying every few seconds, thousands kept rushing into the dungeon.

Gorg knew that people often underestimated the number of goblins. They didn't truly understand how quickly they could grow as a people. But he was beginning to feel a little bit nervous. These low level grunts would only be able to take down these strong orc warriors with luck. Then there was also the hidden archers.

He had no idea what creatures were firing arrows at them, maybe it was fey, maybe not. it probably wasn't orcs though.

Sighing, Gorg knew that there really wasn't a way for him to deal with the orcs until Hizon came with the stronger units. Until then, he would have to keep flooding the dungeon.

Max watched the orcs decimate the goblins with the help of the elves. The orcs with their swords, axes, hammers, and clubs killed 2 or 3 goblins with each swing. The tiny little creatures would fold under the immense strength of the orcs and disappear as the temporary revival buff cleared them from the field.

He was itching to go in and give it a try, but he was sure that Anna had an eye on him from the monitoring room. It wasn't worth getting into trouble. And whose to know if the goblins weren't holding back some trump card while waiting for him or some other strong opponent.

The orcs were spread across the field, but they weren't enough to cover it entirely. Goblins began to squeeze past as they neared the forest.

Sigmund tapped out his pipe and looked to Elroband. "It's time."

The elven prince nodded and stored his bow. "Prepare to engage!" He yelled to his followers.

Bows were placed on their backs as each elf drew a pair of curved scimitars from their waist.

Following their prince, they dove towards the goblins who had passed the orcs. The agile and limber elves slashed and dashed from goblin to goblin.

Gorg's frown continued. The arrows had stopped but a number of elves had stepped from the forest. He knew that their was a relationship between the elf and fey, but they still weren't part of the same dungeon system. This was getting stranger.

Like the orcs, these elves certainly didn't seem weak. The field was flooded with the horde of goblins. The orcs were cutting their numbers down.

The goblins who passed the orcs had to climb through several trenches that were as tall as themselves while dealing with quick and nimble elves who flitted around the battlefield.

The orcs were mighty brutes while the elves were masters of precision. The question was, would the stamina of the elves and orcs give out before the horde began to diminish?

This wasn't good, they hadn't even seen any fey yet.

With no other choice, he crushed the communication stone given to him by the dungeon master. Gorg didn't want to gamble on what fell first, the enemy's stamina, or the goblin's numbers.
