"You are going to have to change the way your dungeon operates." Max began.
Hizon was aware of that, he just hoped the restrictions Max placed on him wouldn't be too great.
"Firstly, you will no longer have an entrance to your dungeon in the real world. While it is possible for me to give up an alternate entrance in the future for you to use, I don't see that happening."
The hobgoblin nodded.
"Secondly, you need to know that my dungeon has a revival system in place. I checked and this will apply to your dungeon as well. You can no longer gain DP from killing adventures."
Hizon frowned. That would make things difficult.
"Don't worry, we have a plan that will hopefully allow you to continue to make DP."
"What do I need to do?"
"Take a look around." Max said while motioning to the growing city that could be seen from the balcony of his manor. "I encourage adventures to live and train inside my dungeon and have convinced those here that they need to wait 12 hours after dying if they don't wish to risk real death. This has allowed me to make more DP that I lose from their deaths."
The hobgoblin turned and was surprised to see the sprawling village that was filled with several different races. Such a dungeon set up surely must be expensive, he thought to himself. But this would also cause him problems.
"Master, with my current set up I may not be able to keep up with the adventures for a while."
"Please, call me Boss." Max said. "And explain what you mean."
"Only my hobgoblin guard, the goblin king, and the colossus beetle are eternal souls in my dungeon. The rest come from goblin spawners. If the adventures can battle without worry of death, they will be able to overrun my dungeon before my goblins can replenish. My spawners can only produce 800 goblins a day and the goblins that come from these spawners will not be revived by the revival system."
Max thought about it then nodded. "While that is a concern, I don't see it as a big one. Your people that died in the dungeon battle are still alive and waiting to be revived. I haven't done so yet because the area for your dungeon hasn't been built."
Hizon's eyes lit up and then he nodded. "That will give us a little bit of a buffer."
"Yes, but you should focus on buying more eternal souls. While I can't force you too, it would be in your best interest."
Max then went on to explain how his dungeon worked through instance dungeons and the rewards adventures could get and the services he provided.
Hizon rubbed his chin while he took in the information. "I see. The eternal souls under my command will be able to enter your dungeon to train without having to worry about dying and can even collet dungeon coins."
Max nodded. "Yes, I have checked, and you and your goblins will earn me passive DP while you are here. It is halved in its value since you are part of a sub-dungeon but every little bit counts. You can use the class trainers to improve yourselves which will make your own dungeon stronger. And if you want, I can convert the dungeon coins and dollars to DP for your dungeon. While it won't be a lot it is one way you can earn income."
"I appears I will need to find several ways to earn DP instead of just relying on killing adventures."
"Indeed. And to that point I am willing to invest in two ideas Anna and I were discussing before we summoned you."
"You would do that?" Hizon asked in surprise.
"Of course." Max answered. "Do not forget that as a sub dungeon I get 15% of the DP you gather. On top of that you are also required to participate in any Dungeon Battles I find myself in."
Hizon nodded as Max continued.
"The first idea is a undercity."
"Undercity?" The hobgoblin asked.
"An underground area beneath this village. I will let you run it. Since it is in my dungeon, I will be earning the passive DP, but there are still many ways for you to make money. You can set up shops to sell things and also offer services and other attractions. Adventures will have to spend money or dungeon coins to partake."
The hobgoblin looked a bit confused. He had obviously never thought about the service industry and spent his whole like killing adventures.
"I noticed that a few of your goblins used poisons, you could sell those to adventures. Even though I have an arena up hear you could make some sort of underground fighting pit and give the adventures different challenges. If your train up your hobgoblin guards, you might be able to rent out their services to accompany adventures in my dungeon. There are all sorts of things you could do to earn a bit of money."
It looked like Hizon was starting to get the point that Max was making. While none of the ideas would grant him a windfall of DP, each would add a little bit and if he added more attractions, he may be able to accumulate a decent amount of wealth.
"As for my second idea, I will eventually pay for your dungeon to be turned into an instance, but first you need to turn your goblins into eternal souls before that happens."
"That could take quiet some time." Hizon said.
"Maybe, but in the meantime, I was thinking we could set your place up as a weekly dungeon."
"Weekly dungeon?" He asked.
"Right now, my levels are set up for 5-man teams. My hope is that in the future, your dungeon can be an instance for 20-man teams or even 50-man teams. But until then, we'll set up your dungeon as a long term one that may even take days to complete."
This was a plan that Max had just come up with, so Anna looked at him with interest as well.
"Every week your dungeon can produce 5,600 goblins. How many of the bullet ants can your produce at the same time?"
"The spawners I have can make 50 every day but they will shut down once I have 300."
"Ok so 300 ants, 5,600 goblins, a goblin king, a giant beetle, 20 hobgoblin guards and then there is you. Even if you are completely wiped out after a week you will always have those numbers."
Hizon nodded.
"What kind of levels are we looking at?"
"The basic goblins start at level 10. The bullet ants start at level 15. The goblin king is currently level 24. The beetle colossus is at 22 I believe. The hobgoblin guards are at 25 and I myself am at level 39."
"Then maybe we set the required level for entrance to 15 or so. We can let in 50 adventures and have some sort of war game. They will have to defend an outpost while your army comes in waves. After each wave they will have time to refortify their position."
Anna's eyes lit up. "That is a good idea. With that we can force them to wait in between waves and extend the time they are stuck in your dungeon."
"What is to stop the adventures from going off and finding the goblins and finishing early?"
Max thought about it then answered. "You will be rewarding dungeon coins so we can tailor the rewards to defending the outpost. We just need to make them get more coins for defending compared to killing. Then it will be in their best interest to stay at the outpost. We can also use a bit of trickery. Like making the area covered in a dense fog while they are in the rebuilding period. That way if they leave the outpost, they will likely get lost and killed off instead of finding where you are keeping the others waiting. That is just one idea, there are a bunch of ideas to get around that situation."
"Okay, it is not a bad idea. As long as I can earn more DP than I need in upkeep."
"This will just be the beginning." Max said. "Once you convert to eternal souls you can hold different events and have them happen all the time instead of once a week. Your eternal souls can grow stronger in my dungeons, earn dungeon coins and then take those coins to the undercity to spend on their food and housing which you will sell them."
Hizon nodded. Even though the idea was strange to him, he could see that it had potential to be profitable. Though it wasn't like he really had a choice in the matter.
The 3 discussed things for another hour and made good progress in hammering out the details of how Hizon's dungeon would be set up.
"That's all for now." Max said. "Tomorrow we can start building your dungeon and get things moving."
Hizon bowed. "I will take some time to explore your village and try to come up with some ideas of my own."
Before the hobgoblin left Anna shot Max a look and sent him a message through the dungeon menu.
"A yes, before you go. There is something else." Max said. "I will give you a plot of land and a budget to build your own manor here. Just inform one of the gnomes and they can construct it to your desire. If you go over the budget, you will have to cover the difference."
"Thanks boss." Hizon said before he was led out by an automaton.
"I think that went well." Anna said.
Max agreed while pulling her legs up onto his lap. He began to rub her feet which she enjoyed. But she didn't enjoy it as much as Max who enjoyed the sight of her short silk robe riding up her thighs.
