In the midst of rowdy students, the air thick with laughter and the sound of moving chairs, Jay's eyes wandered aimlessly. But then like a beacon in the chaos, he caught a glimpse of her.
She came into the class, and walked into her seat, her presence commanding attention without effort. She was the epitome of beauty, with her flowing brunette hair that cascaded down her shoulder like a waterfall of silk, her eyes, mesmerizing and filled with a mysterious depth, and her skin glowing with radiant warmth that seemed to illuminate the classroom.
She was more than beautiful to Jay.
"Nancy, I am Nancy".
That was the first time he heard her voice after imagining how she sounded all day, his heart felt at ease. Since that day he has found his heart drawn to Nancy and no one else has filled that spot he reserved for her.
Even knowing she had no idea how he felt towards her, Jay kept it a secret and made friends with Nancy, hoping one day she would feel the same way about him.
Seeing her smiling heartily at Nolan was heartbreaking, he never thought he would feel so much hurt that day after his last heartbreak with his first girlfriend who had left him for a college student, he stood there watching Nolan walk away.
His eyes filled with disappointment, his lips were tightly drawn in and his eyes moved to Nancy.
"She likes him", he thought and separated his lips to speak.
"Isn't that Tara's brother?", he asked and immediately saw her surprised eyes on him.
He forced out a smile and continued, "I think I saw him in one of Tara's posts on Instagram, they really look alike ".
Nancy nodded and looked away.
"Yes, he is her brother", she said and moved away from the locker, "let's return to class, the next class will soon start", she said walking away, trying to not talk about Nolan with him.
He walked behind her slowly, wondering what could be happening between Nancy and Nolan and why she was trying so hard to not have a conversation about it.
After the last class of the day, Tara was seen walking into Nancy's class, her smile lighting up the room as she approached her friends while waving at them.
"Hey Jay"
"Hey Nancy"
She said and sat on Nancy's table.
"Hey Nancy", Jay and Nancy chorused.
"Ready to go?", Tara said while smiling down at Nancy who agreed by nodding her head.
"Good… I would give you a ride to Jay's , I mean I would love to but you said your brother usually gives you a ride after school", Tara said.
Jay smiled and nodded, "Yes Tara, but thank you. You are so kind", he answered.
Tara blushed and stared at him for a second before glancing around.
"I see you two have been super close, our Instagram is paying off", Nancy added while looking at her two friends.
Jay stared at Nancy, hoping she was not getting the wrong idea of him with Tara, she was the one he wanted and not Tara.
"Yes we are…", Tara answered, still smiling at Jay.
"And oh talking of Instagram, I didn't know you and Nolan talk, I saw that he follows you on Instagram…", Tara asked Nancy as they all walked out of the class.
Nancy knew there was no reason to get startled by Tara's question, isn't it normal to get followed by your friend's brother, why is she then looking like she is doing something bad?
Jay immediately noticed Nancy's reaction, he stared at her and then at Tara.
"I mean I saw it too, guess he wants to be friends with his sister's friend", Nancy answered, chuckling nervously.
Tara sighed, "he has so many friends, he should leave my friends alone… he is a troublemaker", she said with a hint of annoyance.
Emma and Jasmine were seen walking towards them, anyone could tell they had something urgent to say.
"Hey Nancy… thank God I found you here", Emma said while staring in concern.
"Oh hey Tara", she added before returning her gaze to Nancy.
"Do you guys want to tell me something?", Nancy asked, she was standing in the middle of Jay and Tara and they all stared at Emma for what was so urgent that they had to stop them on the way.
"Beth, I thought you told me she was your friend's girlfriend? The… you know… that girl from last night",
"Her name is Jada", Nancy narrowed her eyes in annoyance.
"My apology…", Emma answered sharply, "but anyways so about Beth, we saw her sitting on Jackson's thigh just now… I think they have a thing going on".
Nancy turned to look at Tara, they both looked at each other for a second before turning their gaze back at the girls.
"Show me", Tara said.
Emma and Jasmine nodded and walked towards the school basketball court, and they followed.
Nancy and Tara immediately saw Beth hugging Jackson while on his thighs, and his friends sitting next to them.
"What the…", Nancy was about to talk but Tara had immediately approached the girl.
"Beth! Are you kidding me right now?" Tara exclaimed.
The girl turned her eyes and saw Tara and then Nancy who was still standing a few feet away from them.
She rolled her eyes and stood up from Jackson's thigh.
"What is this you are doing with Jackson? What about Jada? I thought you two were a thing, what disrespect is this", Tara angrily said.
"And who is Jada?", Jackson mocked in a silly voice, his friends laughing at his lame joke.
Nancy saw Beth's face and she also smiled at his joke.
"You two had a fight and this is what you are doing, have you no shame?", Nancy said while walking towards Beth.
Beth sighed in annoyance, she folded her arms and narrowed her eyes at Nancy and Tara.
"What is up with you two? How is my relationship you girls business, whatever I do is my business so why can't you two scrape off", She answered.
"You heard her, SCRAPE", Jackson said and again his friends laughed.
Nancy scoffs, she takes a step towards Beth and looks her in the eyes. "You know, people like you don't deserve good people, you know why? Because what you deserve is a piece of shit", she said while turning her head to Jackson, "and piece of shit deserves you… Jada deserves better, you are just like him, pieces of shit".
Tara and everyone there were surprised, no one had ever seen Nancy talk back at anyone since she got to Westwood, for a moment, everyone was quiet.
Beth felt hurt with Nancy's words but she pretended like it didn't.
"And who is the piece of shit?", Jackson said while standing up and scowling at Nancy who also scowled back at him.
"Okay, Jackson that's enough…".
Nancy knew that voice, she turned her face and saw Nolan walking towards them, his hand in his pocket as usual, and next to him were his two friends she had seen him with earlier.
"Nolan", she muttered.
