Chapter 33 - Hidden Truth

New York, Manhattan USA.

1:03 pm.

Uncle Robbs's Apartment.

A woman entered the house after Uncle Robb's last child had opened the door for her.

"Go meet your brothers in the room", the man ordered and immediately the boy sprinted upstairs, happy to join his brothers in their rooms.

The woman carried some big files in her hands, she saw Uncle Robb sitting on his cushion and approached him.

"Robb, I would not have guessed you would be home today, you are mostly out, am I wrong?", the woman said, smiling as she sat opposite the man. She gently the files on her thighs and looked at him for a response.

Almost immediately Uncle Robb's wife got in wiping her hand.

"The food is ready, I am guessing you would eat after…", the woman in her middle 30s said, looking down at her husband and at the same time sneaking glances at the woman in their home.

"And who is….", she curiously asked.

"This is the lawyer helping me with my brother's house… we talked about it, she is just here so we can finalize our last conversation, everything is going good", he assured his wife.

His wife smiled at the woman and then returned her gaze to her husband.

"I would be in the room then, wouldn't want to disturb you". She added before walking away.

The woman watched Uncle Robb's wife leave, she smiled and gently hit the files on her thighs.

"So where do we begin…", she asked.

"What is the status now? Are all the papers complete? Is everything perfect now? Would there be any problem in the near future or even soon?", the man asked.

She nodded her head and took a look into one of the files.

"Everything is here, I made sure none is missing, it is successful and after I hand this over to you, it is now your choice to either sell the house or live in it", she added, smiling at him.

The man let out a sigh of relief, he rested his back and smirked.

"But I would say sell it out since it is yours now, I mean…", she paused and looked around, "didn't you tell me your brother's daughter is in North Carolina, what if she decided to come back, living there would not be advisable, that would expose everything", she whispered.

Uncle Robb scoffs softly, he stands up and walks to the shelves filled with alcohol, he brings out a glass of cognac, pours himself some and offers the woman some but she refuses.

"You know, I had all this planned before sending her over there… and I had also make sure she does not return back to New York", he said and sat, "there is nothing here for her anymore, she is insisting on come back here for college and that could be a problem so I am doing everything I can to avoid that". He said and sipped part of his drink.

"If you sell the house and use the money for yourself, I don't think she would know anything. Well except his cars", the woman said.

He chuckled and stared at the alcohol in his glass while gently shaking it.

"I sold one of the cars and kept mine to myself", he responded and looked up, "she would not return back here to see me using her father's car…".

The woman nodded, "that would be smart, did you get access to his bank accounts or should I help with that? I have some connections that could help you easily with that easily because you are his brother and next of kin, except from Nancy, who is the deceased daughter".

"She won't come back here to get them, that's the next thing I am working on", Uncle Robb responded.

The woman stretched the files to him.

"I can't believe I'll finally have full access to that house. You know I have always loved it. I remember the first time my brother took me to his home and now it's mine", he said and looked up at the woman who was also smiling.

"I would forward some money to you before the end of today… you deserve more treatment than the one I have done in the past, and if you Impress me more than this… I would do more", Uncle Robb promised.

The woman smiled and nodded, agreeing with her client.

After a few minutes, the woman left and the man's wife walked in.

"You have it?", she eagerly asked, while staring at the files on the cushion. She grabbed them and looked through them.

"I told you I would… everything is ours now, actually not everything, soon it will all be ours", the man assured his wife.

She sat next to him, grinning ear to ear and looking at her husband.

"More money for us after selling this… isn't it?", she eagerly asked.

"Not just this, the ones in his bank still in there… I would get it all and take what is mine", he added and smirked, "he really thinks getting almost 80% of our late father's inheritance is fair to me who got just 20? All because he is father's favorite son and more hardworking?".

"Don't think about the past anymore, he is gone and you are here… his daughter who could be in your way isn't anymore, it is all yours now… look at the papers Robb", she excitedly said.

He smiled and drank more of his alcohol.

"I am going to get everything, I mean everything that was supposed to be mine without leaving out any, and if anyone stays in my way… and I mean anyone", he said and turned his gaze to the woman.

"They would regret being in my way", he added while smiling to himself.

The woman stood up and grabbed the alcohol from her husband's hand. "Come on let us eat and then this night we celebrate with the boys", she said smiling.

"Boys come down for food".
