Chapter 29: Scammer

Arrogance eh?

Shiro scoffed inwardly. A glint flashed through his eyes as he recalled the details of his mission and the decision he had chosen.

'What do you think system?'

Ding

[The system has scanned the host's thoughts properly and advises the host to cheat from every shop.]

'Did you just say what I was thinking and call it your own assessed judgement.'

[Negative]

'Haa, sigh whatever. Anyways, that's what I'm going to do.' His plan was simply to scam the scammers. Sehas. This was the name of the owner of this shop.

Shiro planned to borrow items in his name. A simple plan that didn't seem efficient at all.

However, Shiro could make it possible, with the help of spells that he possessed. All those years of experience as a charity doctor had helped him amass quite a lot of health and presence-related spells.

After that, Sehas would definitely encounter a lot of problems. Simultaneously he would've earned some money while simultaneously completing the mission.

Haha, life often requires some thrill.

Ding!

The system's voice once again rang in his mind.

[The system advises the host to disguise.]

Sigh, what's up with this system? Stating the obvious...

Shiro then quietly left the place. Walking he found some places at the corner discreetly buying a black robe and other necessary items to make a good disguise.

Hmm, if someone focuses enough then might be able to tell that I'm not a middle-aged man, with with the robe, and the spells I can hold on for longer.

'This will be Alright, at least for now.'', Shiro thought to himself.

'Time to begin my mission!'

The first shop he went to sell some accessories for both men and women.

"Sir, are you interested in buying an accessory?", the shopkeeper asked Shiro politely.

Shiro pretended to think for a while.

"I'm looking for an accessory suitable for young girls. I want to buy them for my daughter.", he said in a deep tone, trying to change his voice.

"Ah, you're a good father. Let me show you some of the latest collections…", the shopkeeper said as he took out a large brown box, trying to butter Shiro up into buying many things.

Inside the box, there were a lot of beautiful hair ornaments that were suitable for young girls.

Truth to be told, Shiro didn't know how to pick. The only time he saw a hair ornament was when his sister asked him to help her put it on her hair – that too, those was handmade with Seashells.

"These ornaments would be suitable for your daughters. How about you take a look?", the shopkeeper asked.

Shiro randomly picked up a basic-looking hair ornament. It barely had any glitter or jewels on it, and it was made of wood.

"That… sir, are you sure you want that? A lot of young girls prefer to have prettier hair ornaments nowadays. It's even more expensive since it's made up from a rare wood."

"Yes, I'm sure."

"Alright, I'll help you wrap it up. That hair ornament will cost 2 Gold coins."

'2 Gold? Who are you trying to scam?' Shiro gave a subtle smile as he activated two of his spells simultaneously.

{Tranquil Presence}

{Communication}

Shiro nodded. His presence suddenly seemed to become more calming.

"And pack me this, this, this, this..." The shopkeeper's eyes widened as he tried to hide his smile.

"A total of 10 gold coins." He said cheerfully. Shiro gave a subtle nod as he pretended to search for his pouch.

Seeing that the person in front of him didn't have money, the shopkeeper asked, "Young man, you…"

"It seems like I didn't bring any coins with me today. How about you put it under Sehas' tab? I'm his friend, you must have surely seen me with him..."

The shopkeeper thought for a bit. He didn't know about the person's identity, but he did go and sell a few things to Sehas. Also, he recalled seeing a black-robed guy walking together with Sehas a day before and assumed Shiro to be the same person, which was exactly what Shiro wanted to happen.

This was the charm of those two spells when used together. It was as though Shiro forcefully pulled the intelligence of this man down.

The shopkeeper nodded.

"Alright, should I send this hair ornament to Sehas' shop as well?"

"No, I'll take it first. Don't worry, you can go and collect the payment from him today in the evening if he doesn't come here. He will surely pay you."

After that, Shiro walked to the next shop. This time, the shop sold bags and baskets.

Shiro walked toward the shopkeeper and asked, "Hello, do you sell large baskets here?"

The shopkeeper nodded and showed him the large baskets that were hanging by the wall.

"Please give me 5 of them. Sehas asked me to buy some baskets."

"Alright, young man. 5 baskets would be 7 silver coins."

"Just ask for money from the Sehas, if he doesn't come to give by himself in an hour. Don't forget to go to his shop by evening…"

"Sure. Here are the five baskets."

And so, one by one, Shiro walked into the shops in the market, using the same tactic every time.

At the end of the day, all the shopkeepers rushed to Sehas' shop to claim their money.

"Sehas, you sent your worker to buy my baskets! I've given him those baskets already, so you need to pay up!"

"Your worker bought a few plates from me today. Altogether, those plates cost about 10 Gold coins."

Sehas was confused by the crowd of shopkeepers in front of him.

He hadn't sent his workers out to buy anything today!

"Are all of you mistaken? I didn't ask anybody to buy items today!", Sehas denied.

The shopkeepers were furious at Sehas' denial. So much so that they threatened to break his shop.

All while this was going on Shiro was in a corner counting his gains.
