Chapter 30: An Old Man
"Are you trying to cheat us of our money?"
"We already gave the goods to you, so you must pay up!!
"But…", Sehas seemed completely confused.
His body was releasing sweat crazily, so much so that he felt as though all his body fat would be released with those sweat droplets.
"That's right, if you can't afford to pay, then return the goods to us!"
Sehas looked at them, confused.
"I don't have any of your goods with me! And I never sent out anyone to buy items from all of you."
Among the crowd of shopkeepers, Shiro was also present – of course, in disguise, a brown robe this time.
He was standing at the back, quietly observing the chaotic situation in front of him.
A subtle smile appeared on his face as he opened his mouth simultaneously with his spell.
"You are the one who scammed us. You made this elaborate scheme and did all this. We all saw you bring a man in a black robe yesterday."
After listening to Shiro's words, the shopkeepers were even more convinced that Sehas was scamming them.
"That's right, a man with a black robe indeed bought items from me today."
"Sehas, stop lying."
"A man in a black robe? It could have been anyone!" He tried to reason but his voice drowned in the sea of chants by those people. They didn't wanna reason anymore.
"Let us check your shop then!" The loud voice once again echoed.
Silence.
Everyone was waiting for Sehas's reply.
"Fine, I didn't hide anything anyway."
With that, all the shopkeepers rushed into Sehas' shop instantly.
Sehas was confident that after the shopkeepers saw his shop, they would realize that he did not scam them at all.
However…
"Sehas! These are my baskets!"
"This… It's the vase that I sold to the man!"
When Sehas heard them scream, he couldn't help but rush into the shop and was stunned to see the unfamiliar items in the shop.
Shiro smirked. Of course, Sehas would be stunned.
[Inventory] A feature that came with the system which allowed him to store things within the system.
The things he stored with the inventory could be spawned anywhere within a hundred-meter radius. In shiShiro'ses, this feature was overpowered.
"Sehas you sly fox! We're all trying to make business here, why must you cause difficulty?"
"Report him to the officials"
"Hey..." Suddenly one of them called out.
"T-this is Algesar...!"
"Algesar...!"
This was a substance illegal to have. Something that was an addiction worse than alcohol and would also simultaneously kill the person from within.
"No! This is not mine, it—" As he was speaking, he suddenly felt as though his teeth sunk into a pouch. Next second purplish powder overflowed.
"Look! He's using the drug as he's speaking!"
Seeing that he had achieved what he wanted, Shiro walked out of the store. Though it was a pity that he had to waste such a great amount of drudge could only make it up by stealing things from the shop, amidst the chaos.
When the officials arrived 30 minutes later. Listening to the testimonies of the other shopkeepers and having the evidence right
Alas, Sehas was found guilty – not only for these goods but also for all the scams and for the illegal drug he had kept with himself.
The officials forced Sehas to pay for the goods he purchased with a penalty and arrested him.
'A few more days of this lifestyle.' Shiro thought inwardly as he continued walking.
Soon finding a few shops, he sold the items that he stole from Sehas's store.
They earned quite a buck.
'I can treat myself with this money and simultaneously complete the system's mission. But the series mission...'
Shiro found it to be quite troublesome. Although he had completed the first part he still needed to complete the part of making those two girls smile.
'Let's just treat myself right now.' Thinking of this he first bought a normal set of clothes, not too fancy and then started his search for an inn.
It was on purpose that he was extending the search, memorizing all the alleyways and the streets.
Who knew when it might turn out to be handy?
Finally, after two hours of seasearchinghiro found a place suitable enough for him. And now that he had scanned a radius of a kilkilometreoperly, he felt a bit secure.
Moreover, this inn was closer to where those two girls lived.
Entering the inn he straightly walked towards the receptionist.
"How much for three nights? Lowest quality room."
Lowest quality room? Is something wrong with your head? Why are you so proud of it?
Forcing a smile the middle-aged man opened her lips. "30 copper coins."
"Food included?"
She almost choked. Food included?
"N-no young man. It'll be an additional 3 copper per day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Extra food will require extra coins." With her tone, she was basically implying Shiro to get the F*ck out of here.
But he still kept his shameless smile on. "I'll take it." Swiftly he placed thirty-nine copper coins on the table.
"2nd floor, room no. 13. At the corner. You can have food in the dining area. I'll inform them."
"Alright." Shiro grinned as he walked towards the dining section. He wasn't in a hurry to check the room.
Entering the dining area he sat on one of the chairs. There were quite a few people here, this place was indeed isolated.
Soon the standard meal of bread and soup was served to him.
Well, this won't fill my stomach a tinny bit.
Calling the waiter he placed another 25 coins ordering 3 more servings of the standard meal and one serving of meat.
'Not that delicious, below average. But will fill the stomach.' After assessing the first bit Shiro devoured all the servings in 10 minutes leaving the waiters speechless.
"Can I get the same servings again, but this time doubled?"
"S-sure..."
While Shiro was busy eating, an old man in a distant seat squinted his eyes.
"Interesting."
