Chapter 15: Hope to Live [3]

Sigh... Sigh... Sigh...

In a span of 2 minutes, Mornil had already sighed 10 times.

No wonder anyone who frequently visited him gained the habit of sighing.

While massaging his head he grabbed a piece of cigar and placed it in his mouth taking in a satisfactory puff.

"Should I visit her? It's already too late. I might miss the boat." He squirmed in his chair.

Mornil already had decided to visit a friend of his living in a nearby city.

It would at least take two hours to get there as the distance wasn't much. But he had to stay there for at least a day.

After all this friend of his loved mysticism. His horizon on magical and mystical abilities was quite broad.

He possessed iron-hard vision, though not comparable to those actual appraisers with mystical abilities, his knowledge overall was better than Mornil's.

"Well, sigh she has bought supplies worth of three months. And I'll be back in one and a half or two days." The ominous feeling in Mornil's heart still remained.

Has that monster even placed a curse or something similar within those coins? Or am I just being paranoid? F*ck no! He has definitely placed something within them. The poison test was negative so he must have placed something like a curse. He squirmed in his chair even more.

After contemplating for another minute Mornil stopped squirming in his chair and finally sprang to his legs.

Grabbing the box packed with two pairs of clothes, some of medicines and types of equipment and finally with the coins Mornil walled out of the clinic and locked it properly, before heading towards the high-end streets.

...

Sigh...

Shiro sighed deeply. He simultaneously frowned as he felt that the ominous feeling was returning to his body, eating him from inside.

But he instantly shook his head.

Last time I got this feeling and started worrying only for Mother to suddenly bring over these luxurious items.

Maybe this is actually a good feeling for good luck eh? While Shiro thought this, he raised his gaze looking around the house graced with these newly bought comfortable-looking furniture.

He should have felt happiness from the depths of his heart. Such a look should've been a feast to the eyes of a boy like him, with such poor financial conditions.

However...

A frown, yes a frown appeared on his face.

Too comfortable...

Moreover...

These new furniture were made of mare Lilly wood, a light brown wood that reflected light.

They seemed to radiate this shabby house with brilliance.

Wood illuminating a room... That was a funny thought. The bed, the chairs, and the small table... Looking at them Shiro realized just how much he loved darkness and shadows.

Without making much noise he stood up and casually went to a corner, sitting there.

He was positioned in such a manner that he was nearest to the door while simultaneously being able to look at the entire room.

Haa... His lips twitched even more.

He learnt something new about himself today. He didn't like surprises, no rather he liked to be the one in control.

"Shiro! Do you want to play with us?!" Sera abruptly asked with a bright smile. This occasion could be considered to be a rare one as Loyola had stayed home today, playing with her daughter.

"Yeah, sure!" Shiro said enthusiastically.

As he e looked at his sister laughing cheerfully, and his mother who was somewhat exhausted but still genuinely happy, a thought sprang within Shiro's mind.

'I'll... I'll protect them forever... I will give both of them the Happily ever after! We'll build a house near sea shore, and live happily ever after! Yes, happily with full stomachs!' Quite the bold words from a kid's mouth but Shiro didn't care.

All he knew was that his heart melted when he looked at those two. The warmth generated within him upon looking at these two's smiles...

They're... They're mine! Mine!

"It's your turn, Shiro! Haha, you lost!"

"Yeah!" Shiro once again enthusiastically replied.

"Hahaha haha! See I'm smarter than you."

"No sis, you're a big dumb dumb!"

And so the waves of laughter of this family resonated within the area. This was indeed a golden day for the family.

As Shiro continued to hear their waves of laughter, his will of giving them a happy life became even stronger.

'When I grow up, every day today will

be like toady! Every day we three will play! Every day we'll eat vegetable soup!'

.

.

.

"Mother! Today's dinner was delicious!" For the first time since Shiro was born, he had meat. Yes, meat!

It was seafood! Fish! He had never eaten fish and rice!

Mmm, why is food so delicious? I always thought there was no difference between a rock and food, other than being edible!

Mmm!

After talking with each other Shiro and Sera finally went to bed. Loyola was about to sleep too however she froze.

Slowly she clenched her fist.

At first, it started off as an uncomfortable feeling. However, the pain slowly increased, not allowing her to sleep at all.

At one point she felt as though she was back to giving birth to Sera, her daughter.

Loyola's eyes were bloodshot as she rushed out of the house and then screamed at the top of her lungs.

From where did the pain originate? She couldn't pinpoint. But the pain was within her body.

At one point it felt as though her bones and muscles were being crushed.

At one point in time, the pain was at its peak. It felt as though the intensity of pain was ten times that of what she felt while going through labour.

This pain was too much.

The pain that made her collapse. Loyola almost fell unconscious. The intensity of this pain was too much, making it difficult for her to even scream.

Fortunately, after that point, the pain only decreased.

Haa...

Exhaustion quickly took over as Loyola's eyes slowly shut...
