Chapter 19: Death [2]
"Sigh... Sigh... Sigh..."
Mornil sighed countless times as he checked Loyola's condition.
While doing so he still couldn't help but blame himself for Sera's death.
I should've stayed with those three... if I did so, then maybe, just maybe she'd be alive.
Snap back Mornil. Right now your priority should be saving Loyola. I can mourn and cry for Sera later on. Right now I should save Loyola.
She seems to have a high fever, but that's it. Why has she fallen unconscious? Because of the curse?
The ominous feeling within Mornil just increased as he thought more about this strange matter. He wished to save Loyola, from the depths of his heart. But speaking logically, he didn't even know the source, origin or even the name of the disease that had affected her. He didn't even know whether it was a disease or some kind of supernatural ability.
"Sigh..." With a final sigh, Mornil fell back to his chair. This was when he noticed Shiro, who was seated on the ground in a disciplined manner.
"Old man Mornil, my mother..." Hearing the cry of the small lad, Mornil felt like shit. He blamed himself even more.
Only If I wasn't so incompetent...
Mornil went through every piece of equipment and medicine in his possession which could help Loyola.
Her high body temperature was reduced to some extent, but nothing much of help.
"Those dammed officials..." In the end, he could only curse under his breath.
Shiro was seated on the ground with dead eyes, suddenly felt as though his ears perked up.
"Officials..." He whispered. Sera's words that had painted the position of officials as villains seemed to overlap with Dammed officials.
Shiro felt his heartbeat rate rising, his breath becoming hot.
Officials... Those dammed officials...
Hatred. Deep hatred...
Are they the ones behind Sera's death? Are they the ones who put Mom in such a condition?
Indeed, we both found Mom outside... Did those Officials beat her up? Did they feed her something that caused her to be sick?
Those... Bastards...
Shiro's eyes turned red.
The temperature of the room abruptly lowered. Mornil felt chills travelling to his bones.
He instantly turned and looked at the small kid seated on the ground, more specifically his blood-red eyes.
Bloodthirsty? Filled with bloodlust?
He looked as Shiro opened his mouth. His lips slowly moved as dim low words followed by a frosty breath entered Mornil's ears.
"Dammed... Officials..."
"Old man." Mornil didn't realise when Shiro looked straight into his eyes.
"Did... Did those dammed officials do this to Mom?"
At first, Mornil was still a bit hesitant to jump to conclusions but now he could clearly feel his voice laced with ill intent and malice... Ice Valley with bloodlust...
"Shiro, are you all right? Do you need water?"
"Old man..." It felt like an illusion, but Mornil felt it. It was as though... As though Shiro was threatening him.
"Shiro calm down." Shiro clearly ignored those words, as he continued to stare into Mornil's eyes.
"Mornil... Those dammed officials... Were they the ones who did this to Mom?"
Sigh, Mornil calm down. This is a kid, a mature and intelligent one, but right he needed psychological support.
He slowly walked towards Shiro and placed his palm on Shiro's head.
"Calm down kid... It'll be all right... Everything will be all right."
"Old... Man..."
"Haa... Haa..."
"Hm?" Mornil looked down, only to see the seen of Shiro who had hugged his right leg.
'He's... Crying...'
"Those... Those bastards," Shiro's muffled voice entered Mornil's ears.
"I, will kill them... I WILL F*CKING KILL THEM!"
'Haa... No child should go through such a trauma..."
.
.
.
"Sigh..."
Days seemed to pass in the blink of an eye. 5 days had already passed since the distribution of those gold coins.
Since then Mornil's life had turned into hell. He didn't have any family but considered Loyola and her kids as his family.
Watching Sera die took a big toll on him, but he couldn't let himself have any mental problems after looking at the decaying poor child, let alone have a complete breakdown.
Moreover, he also had a child to look after. Shiro had obviously taken a great mental toll after watching his only sister die.
Mornil could see that Loyola would have the same fate too.
Mornil had been working quite a lot on trying to find a medicine that could help Loyola.
He wished to take her to a knowledgeable friend of his. But in the end, he threw the idea out of his mind.
Haa...
He once again sighed as he massaged his forehead.
Mornil had done some extensive research. Out of the additional 5 who received to gold coins three had died a day ago.
One weird fact was that those three people received 4 coins each.
Now that I think about it... That monster had personally given Sera 1 coin. She died around one day's worth of time...
He didn't wish to take any guesses, but based on these events, it was fair enough to make a deduction.
1 coin is equal to one day?
Two coins are equal to two days?
And so on...
Dread... Mornil felt Dread washing over him.
Are there deductions true then... Does that mean She'll die tomorrow?
He abruptly opened the gold coin box.
Seven coins in total. One was of Sera. Indeed it's six coins.
He continuously shifted his gaze between the coins and Loyola.
This was the second he noticed it...
Her... Her eyelids...
They were twitching...
Seeing this Mornil instantly stood up, dropping the box of coins to the ground.
Quickly he rushed towards Loyola without caring about the coins.
Sleeping for so many days, and not eating food her body had naturally become weak, weaker than ever before.
The coins that spilt on the ground were loud enough to wake Shiro up.
One of the coins rolled falling near him.
As he looked at the coin, a flash of light suddenly erupted in front of him.
[Ding!]
[Cursed Object Spotted]
