As I followed Sebas, we eventually reached a large door where he placed his hand and cast a spell, causing a magic circle to flash on the gate and the door to open.
"Young Master, please," Sebas said, gesturing for me to enter first.
Entering the library, I was greeted by towering shelves that seemed to stretch endlessly upward, filled with books of every size and color imaginable. The air hummed with a faint energy, a testament to the arcane knowledge contained within.
Each section of the library held its own unique aura, with shelves dedicated to various branches of magic and mystical lore. Ancient tomes whispered secrets of long-forgotten spells, while illuminated manuscripts shimmered with enchantments that danced across their pages.
In the center of the library stood a grand reading area, adorned with ornate tables and plush chairs where visitors could lose themselves in the pages of ancient texts. Soft, ethereal light bathed the space, casting intricate patterns on the polished marble floor.
"Young master, please follow me," Sebas said, leading me down a corridor until we reached the center of the library.
"Here, young master, are the magical books related to physical condition and the basics of magic, written by ancient mages, along with some aura user notes," Sebas explained, pointing towards the row of books.
I marveled at the extensive collection, considering our family's status as only a barony.
"How do we have so much books" I marveled whether our family is just a barony or not
"These books have been collected by ancestors of the Winchester family. Though not comparable to the imperial library or arcane libraries of the Academy, we are proud of this collection," Sebas declared proudly.
As I looked around, I could sense mana emanating from some books and prana from others.
"What are those books?" I asked, pointing towards the ones emitting mana.
"Excellent observation skills young master, those are magic tomes, ancient books that have attained spirituality over time. They hold unique magic, but obtaining approval from them can be dangerous. There are only three magic tomes and two aura books, and the Master was able to gain approval from one of the ancient tomes," Sebas explained.
Nodding, I moved towards the books, but Sebas stopped me.
"Be careful, young master. These books can cause severe backlash if mishandled," he warned.
"What, backlash?" I inquired.
"Young master one must have sufficient strength to gain approval from these tomes," Sebas informed.
"Alright, then take me to the section with introductory magic books," I decided, realizing the limitations of the tomes.
Sebas led me to the reading area and offered me a seat, then brought over the relevant books for me to read.
"Anything else, young master?" Sebas inquired.
"No, thank you, Sebas. I can take it from here," I replied.
"Okay, young master, if you need anything, do call me," Sebas obliged and left me be.
Now finally alone, I looked at the books in front of me with various titles: 'Basics of Magus', 'Arcane Arts', 'Body Foundation Theory', 'Magical Defect Hypothesis', etc. It seemed Sebas knew what I was looking for.
I started browsing through these books, starting from the basics. I opened the book and began reading.
First, let's talk about a magic circle. A magic circle is a fundamental element in spellcasting, often depicted as a geometric design inscribed on the ground or in the air. It serves as a conduit for magical energy, focusing and channeling the power needed to perform spells or rituals.
These circles can vary widely in appearance, from simple patterns drawn with mana to form intricate symbols. Some circles are accompanied by runes or sigils, each with its specific meaning and purpose. The choice of design often depends on the intent of the spellcaster and the type of magic being practiced.
When a spell is cast within a magic circle, the energy is contained and amplified, allowing for greater control and precision in its execution. The circle acts as a barrier, protecting both the caster and the surrounding area from any potential backlash or unintended effects of the magic.
In addition to their practical function, magic circles also hold symbolic significance, representing the interconnectedness of the magical forces at work and the boundaries between the mundane world and the realm of the supernatural. They are a visual representation of the intricate web of energy that permeates the universe, and mastering their use is a key skill for any aspiring mage or sorcerer.
As for aura users, prana is like a vital force that is accumulated in all the living bodies of the universe. When an aura user absorbs this energy and harnesses its sharp and defensive properties, they promote the formation of stars intertwined around their hearts, signifying their combat prowess.
Both energies exist independently without interaction between them.
As I delved deeper into the mysteries, hours passed by without me noticing, and I got more and more pulled into the barrow of knowledge.
Before I knew it was noon, Sebas brought me lunch as I missed the lunch with my parents, but I was in no mood. I just took a few bites before going back to studies. Just like that, it reached evening, and May also came.
"Young master, you have been in the library for almost a day; it's time to call it off," May reminded me.
"Oh... May, it's you. I know, just give me a bit more time," I said as I wrote down some formulas for magic circles.
This new knowledge fascinated me as it vastly differed from my previous knowledge.
"No, master, it's enough for today," May was unusually stern this time; she even took the magic books away.
"Mayyyy... no, let me finish the page at least," I pleaded.
"Young Master Vergil," May smiled as she said this, even though I felt no happy emotion from the smile.
"Yes," I replied robotically as I felt my hair on my ends.
"It's time to rest," she said in a tone that could not be refused.
"Okay," I said, sighing.
I organized my notes and called it a day as I went out of the library, albeit reluctantly.
Although I gained a lot today, I was unable to deduce anything related to my condition. I consoled myself, knowing it's only my first day, and understanding that there are still a lot of books left to explore. Feeling optimistic about my first day, I went to bed, knowing that a vast ocean of knowledge was waiting for me to discover.
"okay come on May lets go" I said to may as I stretched to relive the fatigue on my body
May smiled as she followed behind me " Yes Young Master "
