Cynthia's POV
I sat in the corner of the room, tears running down my cheeks. I was terrified that I might be killed, but marrying a scary man like him was an alternative. I have been trying to get away from him since yesterday, but he keeps catching me. What should I do at this point?
I cannot marry that man. He was not a decent man, and I knew he was marrying me to protect his secrets. Finding a way out of here was imperative to me; sitting here and sobbing was not an option.
When I heard the door open, I immediately dried my tears. I scowled when I saw a strange woman enter the room and shut the door.
"I will help you escape from here, but do not tell anyone it was me!"The lady spoke, her dark eyes fixed on me. I rose from the floor and came up to her, narrowing my gaze.
"Why are you assisting me?"I asked. I do not think I can trust anyone in this mansion since they all seem so nasty, and based on the armed guards outside, I am very convinced they are all mafia members.
"Look, I know you do not trust me, but since we are women, I truly want to assist you because I know Zander is not a decent guy and he will hurt you, and I can not allow that to happen."She said, oh so his name was Zander, it did not suit him at all. He was a grumpy, evil stupid man.
"I don't need your help, so get the hell out of here. " I said sternly, glaring at her.
"Look, you can not treat me like this while I am trying to help you. I do not typically talk to lowlife like you, so you should be appreciative that Jane is attempting to assist you." I rolled my eyes at what she said, assuming she was just another pampered brat like Tiara.
"Get out!"I responded coldly, I will find my own way out of here; I do not need anyone's assistance since I know better than to trust others
"Fine, if you do not want my aid, go ahead and suit yourself."She shouted as she rushed out of the room. She left the door unlocked, and I snicker. I moved over to the door and threw it open. Everyone would think I had walked out the door.
I left the door open and proceeded towards the enormous windows. I picked up the chair and moved it close to the windows so that I could climb on it. I extended one leg outside and then added another leg as I regained my balance.
In order to avoid being seen by the guards, I strolled around the edge of the window. When I got to the rear of the yard, I sprang out of the windows.
My eyes were wide when I noticed someone approaching, and I hurried to hide behind the closest floor tree. I sighed with relief as the sound of footfall faded.
I turned to glance around, but there was nobody there. I dashed to the front door, unlatching the little gate in the backyard, and dashed out of the mansion, leaving the gate ajar.
I ran as hard as I could, determined not to wait for a cab this time and to run all the way home. I am not sure how far I ran, but I stopped when I arrived in town since I felt he would never locate me in such a crowded location.
I came upon a tiny restaurant, went inside, and sat down. I was panting so hard and sweating so much that I could smell it. Right now, I am stinking.
The waiter came with a menu, and I smiled at her.
"Can you kindly lend me your phone; I need to call someone."I asked, and she smiled at me.
"Okay," she said. She took her phone out of her pocket and handed it to me, which I accepted right away. I dialled my uncle's phone number; he was a cop and I am sure he could help.
The call was promptly answered. "Uncle, help me!! My life is in danger! "I said on the phone hastily.
"What happened, Cynthia? Where are you at the moment? I tried to phone you, but your number was unreachable. Your neighbours called to report that they heard you yelling at three in the morning. What happened?" Uncle asked, his tone was filled with worry .
"Say another word, and I will kill your uncle; you do not want blood on your hands, do you?"I heard a familiar voice in my thoughts and turned around, but saw no one. Where was he, and why do I hear his voice in my head?
I promptly disconnected the call and returned Waiter's phone. "Thank you, but I need to leave."I said, hastily getting up off the chair and leaving the restaurant.
I am pretty sure that I heard his voice but where he is, why can't I see him? Am I losing my mind?
"A TAXI IS COMING TOWARD YOU, GET INSIDE QUIET, OR ELSE YOU WON'T LIKE THE RESULT OF NOT LISTENING TO ME. . " I am going crazy, how am I hearing his voice without seeing him? He was using black magic on me, and I am not going to listen to him. I heard the same voice again and ran my hands through my hair.
No, I am not going back there; I would rather die than return there. As I was ready to escape, my eyes widened when I saw the girl standing near me fall to the ground in a pool of blood. My heart was practically exploding, and a trickle of sweat was flowing from my forehead.
"WILL YOU STILL NOT LISTEN? OR SHOULD I PAINT THE WHOLE TOWN RED WITH BLOOD?"His voice resonated in my ears again, and I looked around but could not see him. My limbs shook with horror. A cab stopped on the side of the road.
"GET IN RIGHT NOW!"Once more, the voice spoke, and as I turned to face the cab, tears started to fall out of my eyes . I can't be a reason why people die, I would rather die than to watch innocent people dying.
After I got inside the cab, the driver turned on the engine. I broke down in tears. I can not believe I lost out on another opportunity to get away. I was left with that nasty monster; what type of man would not think twice before shooting an innocent girl?
I spend the entire day sitting in a corner weeping uncontrollably, and it feels like the day is going by incredibly quickly. It was finally time for me to marry the devil.
As I glanced at the bridal gowns in the centre of the room and the suitcase containing several dresses, shoes, and purses, I realized that I did not need any of this foolishness and that I just wanted to get out of here as soon as possible.
Someone pulled open the door, and I heard footsteps going inside the room.
"Why did you send the maids away, Little Foxy?" Do not you need assistance preparing?" Thinking about a devil, and the devil has arrived, did he expect me to get ready to marry him? I decided to ignore him.
His footsteps approached me, he bent down, and he forcefully grabbed both of my chins. I felt a searing agony, but I remained silent and refused to look at him.
"I am giving you 10 minutes to get dressed, put on a smile, and come down stairs with a lovely grin, or else I will make sure your so-called uncle pays the price; you do not want to witness his dead body right?" he asked. He let go of my chin and rose off the floor.
I stood up, glaring at him.
"You are such a horrible man; I do not think I have ever met someone like you. I am not sure how your mother raised such a terrible person."I said, tears streaming out of my eyes.
"If I were you, I would have begun getting ready instead of tormenting me because I am not going to change my decision; you have 9 minutes to prepare."He said this and began to walk out of the room.
I could not help but weep; I had no way out of here; even if I tried, he may injure Uncle Matt; he was my mother's brother, but they did not share blood, and I did not want him to die because of me.
He was the only one I could turn to when I was in trouble. I flung my hands in the air, and my gut tightened with each passing second. I have never been so frustrated in my whole life.
I walked to the drawer, looking for anything to cut off this blasted dress; I was not going to wear it no matter what. I located a scissor. Rising from the floor, I moved to the dress and ripped it into pieces, dumping them all on the floor.
When I was finished, I headed to the restroom and returned after a shower. I unzipped the bags loaded with dresses, flung them all on the bed, and discovered a black gown.
I chose it and took the matching heels. I put on my dress, shoes, and matching earrings. When I finished, I added light makeup and black lipstick. When I was done getting ready, I took the flower and began making my way out.
As I made my way down the steps, the entire dining area was packed with people. All eyes were drawn to me, and I could hear loud gasps and people whispering amongst themselves. I forced a broad smile.
As I descended the steps, Zander gave me a scowl. But my smile grew even wider. It felt like my funeral today. So it was preferable for me to start mourning my own death…
