Zander's POV
As soon as Nancy arrived in the room, I knew something was off. I had sent Liona away, not wanting any distractions from whatever it was that Nancy had come to tell me. But as soon as she settled into the chair across from me, I could sense the tension in the air.
"What brings you here?" I asked, trying to sound as nonchalant as possible.
"You have married her, but I've been with you all your life, why didn't you marry me?" Nancy replied, her voice barely above a whisper. I could see the hurt in her eyes, but I didn't have any sympathy for her.
"Not anyone deserves to be my wife," I said flatly, hoping to end the conversation before it got more awkward.
"But I gave you a son, I gave you an heir to your throne, and you still think I don't deserve to be your wife? Don't you think that's an insult to me?" Nancy's voice rose slightly, and I could tell she was getting emotional.
"I'm sure you didn't come here for this," I said, my patience wearing thin. "Tell me why you are here or get lost. I have a lot of work to do."
"I brought your son here," Nancy said, her voice shaking. "If you can't marry me, then I don't see a reason why I should stay with him any longer. It's better if you stay with him."
"Get lost, then!" I snapped, unable to hide my frustration any longer. Without saying anything else, Nancy disappeared into thin air, leaving me alone in the room. I ran my hands through my hair, trying to calm down. To hell with everything.
I got out of bed and quickly threw on a shirt before heading towards the dining area. As I stood at the entrance, I couldn't help but notice Cynthia and Loina laughing hysterically. It was a mystery to me how and when they had developed such a close bond, but Cynthia seemed genuinely carefree and happy at that moment.
Clearing my throat to get their attention, both of them turned to look at me. "Papa, where's Mama?" Loina asked, a beaming smile on his face. It was clear that he was thoroughly enjoying his time with Cynthia. "I don't want to go back to the palace today, I want to stay here with Cynthia," he added, his excitement evident.
"Unfortunately, you can't stay here. You have to go back to your mama, okay?" I replied firmly. The thought of leaving my son with Cynthia, who could potentially use him against me, was not something I could entertain.
"No! I don't want to go," Loina stubbornly protested.
"I said you have to go back, and that's final," I asserted, my tone becoming even more stern. Without saying another word, Loina disappeared into the room, leaving Cynthia sitting on the couch.
"Get ready, I'm taking you out to buy all the stuff you need," I informed Cynthia. She looked at me with a pained expression, clearly not interested in material possessions.
"I don't need anything. If there's one thing I want from you, it's my freedom. Can you give that to me? No, you can't. Just leave me alone," she responded with a hint of bitterness, her mouth downturned.
Ignoring her words, I asked, "Aren't you hungry?" It had been obvious that she hadn't eaten anything since yesterday, and as a human, she needed sustenance to survive.
Cynthia sneered and shook her head. "Just leave me alone. If I starve to death, you're welcome to bury me in your backyard," she retorted, causing me to let out a sigh. Her stubbornness was beginning to test my patience, but I didn't have the luxury of dealing with her nonsense at that moment.
Without saying another word, I grabbed my car keys from the table and made my way out of the apartment, leaving Cynthia sitting on the couch. As I locked the door behind me, I couldn't help but hope that she would eventually come to her senses.
After a few minutes, I parked my car at a hotel. I got out of the car and went inside. I approached the reception area.
"I want to meet Thomas David, "I remarked, and the receptionist smiled, but I stared at her; I did not have time to flirt with her.
"Room Number 19."She said, and without saying anything, I made my way to the elevator, where I waited till it carried me upstairs. After a few seconds, it opened, and I went out, walking to door 19. I pulled the door open, and there was Thomas on a bed, fucking a lady.
His final day on Earth came after he had been screwed.
"What the fuck is going on here? What the fuck are you doing here?"Thomas questioned coldly, and I smirked.
The woman underneath me grinned as she looked at me. What a dumb man; did she think I would be interested in her? Definitely not my kind of chick.
"I heard you have the laptop that has all of my secrets. "I want it returned to me?"I replied quietly, and Thomas chuckled. I twisted my head.
"Only a dickhead would laugh at what I said! I do not have time for your nonsense; tell me where the laptop is."I inquired; I was losing tolerance with each passing second.
"You can not find the laptop right now since I already have it so far away; in a second, Mr. Robert Davis will know everything about you," Thomas stated without saying anything, I took a revolver from my pocket pants and shot both him and his girlfriend.
I pulled my phone from my pocket and dialed Edwin's number, which was promptly answered.
"Thomas has sent someone to Robert with a laptop; make sure he does not get there with it. Tell Mike to delete the CCTV footage from the Blueberry Hotel as soon as possible."I commanded and hung up the phone.
I dialed Ben's phone; he was my left-hand man from the underworld, and he was a vampire like me.
The phone was promptly answered. "Organize a meeting at the palace; I will be there in the evening with an important announcement to make," I explained over the phone.
"Okay, consider it finished," Ben said, and I hung up the phone. I knew Nancy would start an unnecessary scene, which I wanted to stop before she did something bad.
I sat in my car, tapping on the steering wheel, waiting for Edwin's call, but an hour had passed and I had received nothing from him.
My phone rang, and I hurriedly answered without checking the caller ID.
"Tell me!" I said over the phone. I hope Edwin has the laptop now or else hell will break loose today.
"Sir, your apartment is on fire, please come soon." My eyes widened with surprise as I heard what the guy on the phone had stated. How is this even possible?..
