Chapter 33 - He Arrived.

I'd be helping them with some of those things when her older brother arrives. I planned on spending a long time in the hospital, I must see Jemima's brother.

I was there when Jemima phoned her older brother again and asked him if he was coming, and he said he was on his way.

Time passed, and Jemima and I ate lunch in the hospital. From time to time, we'd go into her mum's hospital room to check on her a little. You know, just glance at her and all that.

..She slept a lot, so conversations between her and us didn't take place that much.

And it wasn't all the time I followed Jemima into the room, sometimes I'd let her go alone, it was her mother. The both of them were supposed to have mother and daughter privacy from time to time.

This was something I was fully aware of, I wasn't a dullard, that's why I had to give them that space...

All I was waiting for was for Jemima's brother to arrive, but he doesn't seem to be coming. It was already mid-afternoon, and he hadn't arrived.

'Is he still coming or not?'. I thought to myself a little confused.

Jemima had to phone call him again, but his line wasn't going at all to talk of him picking up the call. And she started getting worried that maybe something had happened to him on his way here.

"Are you sure something hasn't happened to my brother? He hasn't arrived, and his line isn't going. I'm a little scared". Jemima said glancing at me, the scared expression evident on her face.

"Don't worry, he'd arrive, I believe so". I stated glancing at her.

..I said that but wasn't sure of myself, I was having double feelings.

I only said that to comfort her...he might arrive soon, or he might not, maybe something has truly happened to him. This was my real thought.

We were sitting on the chair close to the room where Jemima's mum was in when her phone began ringing. She checked the caller ID, and it happened to be her brother.

She glanced at me with wide-open eyes while saying, "It's my brother".

And after saying that, she picked up the call immediately, and it was truly her brother. They began talking to each other, then the question her brother asked her was...

"Which hospital are you guys in?".

She told him the name of the hospital, and he said he'd arrive there in the next few minutes, and that's how their phone conversation ended.

I saw a bit of elated expression appear on Jemima's face after their phone conversation ended. She was just happy that her brother was safe.

It was complete evening currently heading toward dusk. When her brother arrives, I wouldn't be able to help them out in the other ways I wanted to today. Why? Because it was already too late.

I waited for him throughout daytime, but he didn't arrive. If he'd come during that time, then I would have been able to render another help to him and his family.

So I'd have to shift it to tomorrow, and once tomorrow reaches, I'd have 7 days remaining to accomplish the quest...time was counting.

And once I'm done with their family, I'd still have to help out one more family to accomplish the quest...

But I'd still have to shift it to tomorrow, there's nothing I can do about it. We were still in the hospital when her brother arrived, he was carrying a big backpack.

And from the way he was breathing and the look on his face, it was evident he rushed to this place. Now, how does her brother look? He wasn't looking bad at all, his dressing was okay and all that.

And you know what? Just as Jemima had a beautiful face, he had a handsome face as well. Their parents gave birth to good-looking children which were them.

"Where's mummy, where's mummy? Which room is she in?". That was the utterance that flowed out of his mouth the moment he arrived at the hospital and located where we were.

..Jemima didn't waste time to take him into the room where their mum was in 'cause he was so eager to see her.

She was asleep when he entered, but looking at her face alone and the fact that she'd received treatment was enough to make him so happy.

"So, they promised the illness wouldn't return again after some time, right?". He inquired, glancing at Jemima.

She nodded her head a little before responding, "Yes, I was assured it wouldn't return. These are real doctors that operated on her, not that quack doctor that operated on her back then. We can be rest-assured".

He nodded his head a little before voicing out once again, "Has she been sleeping like this all this while? Was there a time when she opened her eyes?".

"Yes, more than once, I even conversed with her". She responded.

He breathed a sigh of relief, then her voice resounded again...

"You didn't explain to me properly over the phone why you're arriving by this time and why your line wasn't going at some point. I think I need a proper explanation".

"We came across a lot of traffic holdups which caused a lot of delay, that's why I'm arriving by this time, I would have arrived since. And as for why my line wasn't going, I don't know,

Guess it was due to the location I was in at that moment or maybe due to network issue, any one". He responded.

She nodded her head to his explanation, then he uttered to her,

"I saw a guy with you outside when I arrived. Was he the one that paid for our mum's treatment? The one you were talking about?".

"Yes, he's the one, he's such a good person. He's paid every single penny, a good $10,000". She retorted.

His eyes widened a little as he said, "Wow! He's truly a good person, he's done for us what many people couldn't do for us".

"I'm telling you".

"I have to appreciate him properly".

And after making that statement, he began walking out of the hospital room as Jemima was following him from behind. I didn't follow them into the room, so I had been standing outside for a few minutes now.

I was still standing outside when the door to the room opened and the both of them stepped out. Then her brother walked straight to me and uttered,

"Are you the one that paid for my mum's treatment?".

"Yes". I responded, nodding my head a little.

"Why did you choose to help us out? You aren't related to us in any way, you don't know us before. So why did you choose to pay for my mum's treatment?".

"That's 'cause I didn't like the way she was looking. The moment I set eyes on her, I discerned that she was ill 'cause it was all over her body. I felt pity for her and followed her to her home, which led to this".

"You don't know what you've done for us, you've helped us greatly. Sincerely, I didn't even think people like you still existed in this world. Thank you so much, thank you...thank you".

..And that was how he kept on thanking me until he almost knelt on the ground.

I had to stop him, and even while trying to stop him, he was still trying to kneel on the ground...but I didn't let him. He was just trying to show his appreciation to the best of his ability.

His sister appreciated me really well, the same thing for their mother, and now, he was also doing the same. Seems like he was the one that even appreciated me more 'cause he was trying to kneel on the ground.

This is just to show the help I rendered to them goes a really long way...and more was even coming which they weren't aware of yet...

He had appreciated me to his satisfaction by now, then I asked him why he arrived somehow late and why his line wasn't going when his sister called for the second time.

Yes, he had explained all these to his sister but hadn't explained them to me, and I needed my own explanation...that's why I asked...

Well, he explained everything to me, and I fully understood. We conversed for a few minutes, and I got to discover some things about him. Some of those things included his name and his age.

His name was Mason, and he was 23 years old. According to what Jemima told me, her brother was older than she by 2 years.

..She was 21 currently, so truly, he was supposed to be 23 years since it was a 2-year gap.
