Chapter 31 - It Went Successfully.

"Oh, it's nothing ma'am". I said.

"It is something to me, I've been in this condition for some time now, and even relatives didn't help though they can. And look, it's an outsider that is helping me out. Do you know what that means?". She stated once again.

..A smile was only plastered on my face, I didn't say anything else.

They didn't know the main reason I was doing this was to accomplish a quest. But it wasn't only about the quest, deep in my heart, I wanted to help them out.

Jemima has gone through so much...I wanted to ease her suffering. So part of the reason why I was rendering help to them was to accomplish the quest, and another part was because I truly wanted to help them out.

"Once again, thank you so much". She voiced out once again.

I didn't say anything, I only bowed my head a little with a bit of smile plastered on my face...

The sirens had gotten louder, that means the ambulance that would be carrying her had already arrived in front of the house.

And at that moment, I began wondering why they had to put on the sirens while coming here...not like they'd already carried the patient or something.

..Well, that shouldn't be what I should be thinking about.

What I should be thinking about was if I'd follow them to the hospital or not. Should I just let Jemima go there alone? Or should I follow them?

I should follow them to make sure they arrive at the hospital safely. And I'm sure Jemima would need assistance, she'd want me to be there so I could persuade the doctor to begin treatment as soon as possible.

I was the one that would pay the hospital bills, so I'm the only one that would be able to persuade the doctor to begin treatment immediately.

We know how hospitals work, they can't begin treatment until you drop something first...

Even if you don't pay the full amount, you must at least pay half of it. With this in mind, I'd have to follow them to the hospital.

Her mum was carried into the ambulance, then Jemima locked the door before the both of us entered the ambulance. Then the driver put it in motion.

Right now, we'd already driven out of the ghetto as we were already on the main road now with the sirens on. I could see hope on Jemima's face while we were in the ambulance.

..Her mum's Hypercalcemia illness would be treated soon, she was so happy.

And she was so grateful to me for what I was doing. There was silence in the ambulance as the driver kept putting it in motion until we arrived at the hospital.

Jemima's mum was carried out of the ambulance with a stretcher, and Jemima and I kept following the people that were carrying her into the hospital from behind.

We'd already entered the hospital by now, the next thing that remained was for treatment to begin on her.

******

Jemima's mum was already in one of the hospital's rooms as treatment had already commenced on her.

It was just as Jemima said, the cost for treating the illness properly was $10,000, I confirmed this from the doctor himself. And I paid $5,000 through bank transfer before any kind of treatment began on her.

..I had to pay half of the money before they began treating her, that's hospitals for you.

Right now, Jemima and I were sitting on one of the chairs in the hospital. The chair that was closest to the room where her mum was being treated.

We just sat there waiting for anyone to come out of the hospital room and update us. We needed to know if the illness could be treated properly whereby it would disappear from her body completely and wouldn't disturb her again.

The answer has to be yes 'cause we were paying a good $10,000 for it to be treated properly. Who would want to treat an illness and would want it to come back after some time?

No one wants that, but we needed to confirm anyway...

Again, we needed to know how long it would take for the illness to be treated properly...how long would she spend on the sick bed? Yes, we needed to know this as well.

After some minutes more of sitting on that chair, one of the doctors in the room came out, and we stood up from the chair immediately and stood in front of the doctor.

He was wearing gloves and a face mask, and Jemima's voice resounded at that moment...

"So, would my mum be okay?".

..There was a curious expression on both of our faces.

"Yes, she'd be okay. The illness has taken a toll on her 'cause it's been in her body for a long time now and has spread to a lot of places, but she'd be okay, it can be treated". The doctor responded.

He wasn't the main doctor...just one of the doctors assisting in the treatment.

"After the treatment, hope the illness wouldn't come back again after some time". Jemima's voice resounded again.

The doctor laughed for some seconds before saying, "You don't have to worry, it won't come back after it has been treated. We aren't quack doctors, we are all experienced doctors here,

Don't worry, we'll give your mum proper treatment".

We nodded our heads a little, then Jemima inquired once again, "How long would it take for the illness to be treated completely? How long would she stay on the sick bed?".

"She can stay there for a few weeks. After the treatment, she'd need to recover, and considering the height of the illness, it would take weeks for her to recover properly". The doctor responded once again.

Now, that was a bit of a long time, but that wasn't what was important. What matters more was for her to be treated properly and go back to her normal self.

..Even if it takes weeks before she recovers properly, it doesn't matter.

Seeing that she had no question to ask him anymore, the doctor began walking away. The both of us had to walk back to the chair we stood up from and sat back on it.

At least, we've been assured that the illness could be treated properly. For it to take weeks before she'd recover properly means that she was given proper treatment.

"Your mum would be okay". I said, glancing at Jemima.

All she did was nod her head to my statement, then she uttered to me as well,

"I want to use this opportunity to thank you some more. Thank you so much for deciding to pay the bills for my mum's treatment".

And I was like, "Come on, you don't have to thank me again, you've thanked me before".

"I know, but you deserve a lot of thanks. You don't know what you've done for us, something relatives couldn't do. Today is the first time I've known you, and you're already helping us out on that same day,

The fact that my mum caught your attention while she was walking on the road 'cause you didn't like the way she was looking says something about you. You discerned she was critically ill and even followed her to her house just to render help to her,

Only someone with a good heart can do that, you have a wonderful heart. Thanks once again". Jemima's voice resounded again.

..I liked the fact that she was appreciative, it was a good trait.

I didn't say anything else to her utterance, a smile was only plastered on my face.

The both of us sat on that chair until they were done with the treatment. We saw the main doctor and the other doctors that participated in the treatment coming out of the room.

After standing in front of them, the main doctor said, "The treatment has been finalized, the surgery went successfully. Your mum would be okay, just that she'd be staying on that bed for some time,

A time would come when you'd be able to converse with her. As for now, she's asleep".

And after saying that to us, the doctor began walking away along with the other doctors. Jemima was so happy, I could see a kind of relief on her face now that the main doctor has informed us that the surgery went successfully.

We've been in the hospital for some time now, and the both of us were feeling hungry right now. I was able to buy snacks along with bottled waters, and we consumed them in the hospital.

..I was still in the hospital with Jemima when she phoned her older brother.
