Chapter 11 - Entering a Dungeon

He approached the building and pulled his huddy up covering his face, and he saw a reception area.

[Deactivate Gloom]

He turned off the skill.

Before approaching the woman there.

What do you need sir! She asked him professionally.

I want an Awakened dungeon, the one with the weakest monsters 'Jacob said to her'

"That will be five thousand credits."

Jacob brought his phone and quickly paid.

Seeing this she continued.

The dungeon house a specific type of monsters called 'demon rabbits' they will attack weak dormant beings but are usually scared of stronger Awakened.

They are the weakest monsters here.

They number around a hundred in the area but you are allowed to kill only half the number. Or you can pay more money to kill as much as you want.

Jacob decided to pay more after some thought, he didn't want to be limited to some numbers.

Thank you!

She accepted it and gave him a card, which showed him the location of the place.

He shortly arrived at a sturdy door after moving inside the building, it had some complex glowing symbols on it.

Doors like this had an defense enchantment on them and a space one, which means it has a large space inside.

Jacob carefully slid the card into the door as instructed by the receptionist.

It started glowing with a mysterious light before it opened.

He went in and his surroundings changed into an opened grass fields stretching for five hundred square meters, the weather was like dawn painting the place crimson.

He noticed a transparent barrier in front of him, he guessed it was protection before the hunters went in.

Jacob turned back and to his relief the door was still behind him.

And he stepped forward with determination in his eyes and held the scabbard without drawing the sword in front of him.

"He passed the barrier, and started looking for the beast."

The place was quiet for about five minutes of walking. He couldn't find a single demon rabbit, almost like they didn't exist.

But he knows that it's impossible, maybe the rabbits were scared of him as the receptionist said.

At that moment, he heared a russle in the bushes he tensed up and he saw a dark brown rabbit with a short horn and slightly glowing red eyes looking at him cautiously.

"His body froze in fright as the rabbit stared at him sizing him up."

But something shocking happened the rabbit made a squeak and hopped passed him in a lazy manner not caring about his presence.

And other rabbits started coming out of holes in various locations in the field, some glancing at him from time to time and going about their business.

Jacob seeing this drew his katana and slashed at the rabbit that just passed him, but it swiftly dodged him and looked at him in a mocking manner.

He gritted his teeth, this rabbit was looking down on him!

All of them!

He grew furious and raised his sword and rushed at it again without fear.

This time he channeled his Aura, but it was extremely hard doing so.

He felt a lot of Aura in him but it felt heavy to move but he succeeded.

He felt a bit stronger and faster, his strength should be 0.5 times stronger which means he is stronger than an average human but weaker than an Awaken level 0

He swing the katana at the rabbit it only left some few inches deep cut, it's skin was tougher than expected.

Jacob grinned, who is weak now!

The rabbit 'screeched' in pain and before launching at him with it's horn, wanting to pierce him.

He quickly dodged it, but part of it's horn grazed his left arm bleeding him.

He quickly stood up and making some space between him and the rabbit.

It looked at him viciously and it's eyes shone with malice in it.

He noticed that it's black horn was darker than usual, with a subtle glow on it.

He checked his arm and noticed the place has blackened up.

"He was poisoned."

That receptionist, she didn't tell me about any poison, Jacobs mind was running wild.

Most beast poison can be cured with their beast cores.

He just had to kill this one and hope it can cure its own poison.

He tried to calm his mind and the rabbit rushed at him with more furocity.

He dodged it again and cut the sides of the rabbit when he saw an opening.

He continued dodging for several minutes Jacob received more wonds but with the rabbit getting twice his own.

His days of practicing swords in the dormant class was paying off.

The demon rabbit seeing it self close to dying tried to flee.

Jacob strained his muscles and jumped at the fleeing rabbit and cut it's head killing it instantly.

Dark blood sprayed on the grass.

He carefully held his katana and sliced open the belly of the beast and luckily he found a beast core.

It was half the size of his palm and dark in colour with a dark energy moving round the core.

He noticed something odd about the rabbits corpse, a black smoke was coming out of its body.

The corpse was slowly degenerating, he didn't have time to understand it.

He carefully hid somewhere, he didn't want the demon rabbits to attack him as he had killed one of their own.

He held the core on his hand trying to absorb it.

And it successfully happened. It flowed through his veins he felt that most of its energy entered his body mixing with his aura.

But when he looked at his arm it was good as new.

The speed of his recovery greatly surprised him.

He thought on his performance on the battle, it was very bad.

He knew that people like Nike and Jennifer could easily defeat this rabbit when they were dormant.

He could image how strong they are now that they are Awakened.

"He lowered his head in shame he was below average, he wanted to be stronger his parents were rich but they weren't powerful."

Money can't buy real power.

His sister died because she wasn't powerful enough.

He thought of his weak ability 'gloom', it was his fault he didn't get a good one.

His family bloodline didn't have anyone noticably strong, that could make a strong generation.

With all his thoughts playing he became emotional.

He stood up with an intensity in his eyes.

With my only ability 'Gloom' I will make them feel despair, these lowly demon rabbits they will know the feeling of 'Gloom.'

[Gloom Activated]

He proceeded to pour the majority of his Aura into his only skill.

A distant and cold aura emerged from him his demeanor turning cold and distant.

He held his katana tight, and went to a major spot were the rabbits are gathered.

They all noticed his expression and chilly demeanor, they were intimidated a bit.

But weren't scared of him because of their numbers.

One actually dared to approach him in a taunting manner.

Almost like it was daring him to do anything.

He stared down at it and without hesitation drew his katana a blur passed instantly cutting it in half, the rabbit couldn't even react.

The rabbits were shocked to the core that this human killed their brother right in front of them.

An aggressive expression appeared on their face an they scattered around in frenzy.

Almost a hundred rabbits were attacking him, his expression unchanging he swing his sword again cleaving another in two.

With every swing there was a corpse, Jacob moved quickly dodging another launched rabbit and Killing it.

And unknown to him his katana was glowing with a dark light and a dark and hazy atmosphere surrounded him.

He continued fighting receiving more wounds but without a demon rabbit death.

Jacob felt a burst of energy his strength increased and the healing process accelerated.

But he wasn't in his right mind to notice.

He continued killing them with more ferocity untill they were fifty left scattered around.

The rabbits felt a dangerous Aura spreading from him and they started fleeing.

"Jacob smiled devilishly." He wouldn't let them go easily.

He chased them killing twenty more.

They ran away in terror from this monster and burrow in their holes.

Jacob couldn't chase them again.

He just stood there, his surrounding littered with corpse.

'A dark atmosphere filled the field, the dead corpse lay there and a dark mist flew out of their bodies some occasionally reached Jacob healing him.'

Clarity returned to his eyes, Jacob stared at his surroundings, he was inwardly shocked in himself.

He had to get out of here.
