Vitaliana finished devouring what she could of the sinful human… That is, before it became a bit too awful tasting even with her skill. Lifting her head up and looking around she paused, noting the awkward silence.
Hmm… It's quiet, too quiet. Something's up! Vampires? No, I don't sense much of anything, let alone powerful beings nearby. And Vampires should have that sinister feeling of undeath oozing off of them. I should have felt them by now if they were here.
"FIRE!!!"
A hail of bullets and explosions filled the place where Vitaliana stood. It had been a trap, a setup…
Hmm, not a bad plan but something like that won't work on me now. Though I have to say, that one guy who rushed out… Perhaps his self-sacrifice was what made him more palatable. That, or my active skill has a really short usage time.
The explosions stopped but even still, the bullets hailed out continuously, each one hoping they would hit their intended target with extreme prejudice. The dust had still yet to get a break, so the bullets were firing straight into a plume of dust and smoke.
Sheesh, some of these bullet things manage to sting a little after a while. I'd stay here a bit longer, but I really need to get back. I guess it's time to end this…
Vitaliana, using her new found evolved strength, blew away the cloud with a single flap of her wings, sending her hurdling straight into the air. The men that had been firing continued firing as they tried to track her movements, however…
"Blurgh" A man grunted as he fell to the ground riddled with holes. "Ugh, comma… der…" A man said, as the light left his eyes, his body went cold, and lifeless.
The commander of the operation looked at the rest of the men… The shock at what he saw… Several men, laying in severely uncomfortable positions, thus it was clear they weren't sleeping… That is, if the several holes and pools of blood didn't give it away. Or the several body parts strewn about the room in a horrific manner.
"Commander… We hit our own in the attempt to track the target… losses… we have 5 and a half men left… 5 men… including yourself commander." An injured man reported. This wasn't the commander's usual adjutant, why? The man was dead, shot dead by his own people… Under the orders of that very commander.
"I… I see… We have to kill this shitty bird now, nothing less will do…" The commander said, crushing the grip on his rifle.
"Oh? And how do you plan to kill me? Know what, never mind… I don't care. You deserve this result, bye bye now, you pitiful soul." Vitaliana chirped from her landing spot behind them all.
Vitaliana had gone unnoticed by the others. She hadn't been trying, it was just the shock that let her do as she pleased. And so, with a quick launch, the last thing the commander and his remaining men saw, was the flash of a bird boring their faces, causing instant death.
Once done, Vitaliana shook her body vigorously, spraying whatever blood that managed to cling to her, off, splattering it everywhere. And then she flew away, making her way back towards the second Worship Hall.
~ The second Worship Hall ~
Vitaliana, arriving back at the worship hall was met with many thankful and expectant people.
"The threat is gone. Now, it's time to bring you all to safety. Take a deep and relaxed breath…" Vitaliana said, waiting for everyone to have followed her instructions. "Mass teleport." She said the name of her skill.
The second Worship Hall, once full of people, was now just as empty as the first one Vitaliana cleared out. Both were places where so much happened, centers of social connections and places of acceptance. Now, they were left devoid of anything of significance, aside from what had once been.
Just after Vitaliana arrived back at the safe point… Her eldest four sisters finally launched their stormy attack. The air grew chaotic, tornadoes formed stretching from the earth to the sky. Each Pillar was of a different element, water, earth, fire and to symbolize air, well, it was full of lightning.
"Major!" A captain shouted pointing at the tornadoes in terror.
"They are like pillars holding up the very sky itself… We stood no chance from the beginning. They aren't monsters…" The Major commented upon seeing these massive tornadoes spin in place.
"But Major, what do you mean they aren't monsters…" The Captain asked stupidly.
The Major pissed at the idiocy, and knowing that nothing matters anymore, took the captain by the collar and glared seriously into his face.
"They may look like monsters, but that right there proves they are far more than that. They are living manifestations of the elements. Of nature. Remember this, it doesn't matter what we do, nature always wins." The Major grumbled, then tossed the captain to the side causing the captain to tumble. "Men, steel yourselves for death. For there is no longer any other outcome." the major continued.
After his words, the major kneeled reverently towards the tornadoes, knowing that the monsters they had started a war with, were over there. He was constantly begging for forgiveness.
This particular unit wasn't the only one with such a scene. Though they differed slightly between the units placed among the walls, all of them abandoned hope of competing with these monsters. Some units kneeled in the hopes of being spared even the slightest bit, others turned to anarchy.
The storm then finally unleashed its built up forces of nature. Lightning surged throughout the city, rolling around indiscriminately. There was no longer any point to mercy, even still, the places designated as safe havens for the faithful were spared destruction. Fire scorched the land, consuming all in its fury. Hail pelted through buildings and people alike, killing with painful chill. Boulders flew around flattening buildings as they went, red paint decorating the boulders more and more with each building hit. It was truly a destructive storm of unparalleled might… At least Vitaliana had never seen anything quite like it before.
Grand Magic is strong for sure, but this… This is something beyond what I could have imagined… Did my sisters do this just to show me the limits I once knew of were simply the starting point? It's… Beautiful…
