Chereads / Soaring as a Monster Bird in my Next Life! / Chapter 48 - Vampire vs Vitaliana

Chapter 48 - Vampire vs Vitaliana

The new arrival looked rather different from the others. Even still they weren't all that much stronger than a couple of ghoulish-vampires combined. But to someone like Ralond, even with the blessings he received… Fighting that thing on his own would be suicide. Yet, Ralond didn't back down, instead gripping his blade tighter and narrowing his eyes.

"Oh, is that any way to look at your better? You peasants should just kneel down and be grateful to give your lives to the great god of death. His power is far superior to that of your bitchy monster bird." The Vampire said, with a gleeful expression and pose. His words were filled with contempt.

How dare he… This… THIS…

"Ahahaha! That's right, the humans may have ordered and executed the attack… But we, ah, AHAHAHA, yes, we instigated it." The Vampire laughed raising their hand to their face covering everything but their, hateful, red eyes. "We're the reason this is all happening. How's it feel? To lose your mother at such a young age." He continued with a disgusted look in his eyes and a twisted smile, only barely in view.

Vitaliana, was about to enter an enraged state but calmed herself.

It's not worth losing my cool… I won't be able to fight at my best if I do that.

Being a young child again really has affected my mind.

"Oh? Not saying anything? How about you, stupid humans?" The Vampire said in his disgusted voice, turning his head as he looked around. "Oh, you're a beauty. I'll have you for dinner tonight. If you don't resist I'll make sure you feel a pleasure so deep, it matches how much of your body you show." He said in a lascivious tone, licking his lips.

The Head Priestess suppressed the shiver down her spine. Managing this feat out of sheer anger. The idea of laying with a man was utterly repulsive to her. Not after having been loved by her goddess.

"My priestess, leave the vampire to my daughter, she can handle him. After he's dead I'll make sure to comfort you well."

"As you wish my goddess, may this humble one ask one more thing?"

"Hmm, if it's interesting then sure."

"I want to punch that disgusting vampire in his stupid ugly dead face once the young lady takes him down."

"Are you asking me to let you burn that power? You'll be out of the fight if you use it for too long. But… I'm sure I can heal you with enough, uh, close skinship."

"Thank you, my goddess. Then with your blessing I will bring a purifying flame to the lost souls of the dead."

"Lady Vitaliana…"

"I know, don't worry. I'll take care of this guy." Vitaliana said with a confident smirk. "I'm very much looking forward to that scene myself. Now…" Vitaliana said, changing her tone and glaring at the Vampire. "How dare you make eyes at my people. How dare you act so high and mighty." She continued, hyping herself up.

"Huh? And what is a wimpy little bird like you going to do about it? Your mother has long since been killed. You have nothing backing you up. And you're weak…" The Vampire taunted, in a clearly frustrated tone.

"How, you ask? Well, I'm stronger than you so I don't need to rely on my mother. But you… You have to rely on that shitty false god for your backbone don't you? Talk about a pathetic excuse for a lifeform… Oh, nevermind, you surrendered your life already." Vitaliana taunted back with a confident flare in her tiny eyes.

The vampire started trembling with furious anger. His aura of death exploded as he was pathetic with controlling it. "YOU DARE MOCK ME! WE KILLED YOUR PATHETIC MOTHER! NOW GIVE UP YOUR LIFE WITHOUT RESISTANCE AND I'LL PUT IN A GOOD WORD FOR YOU. MAYBE YOU CAN BECOME MY PET!" He yelled, his voice bellowing with a mighty force.

Vitaliana was unfazed. Ralond had a slight tremble but remained steadfast. The High Priestess finally cracked though.

"I can't listen to this drivel anymore… How dare they speak about our beautiful, bountiful, loving and brilliant goddess!" The High Priestess angrily said, her face contorting to one born of fury. She raised the palm of her hand towards a ghoulish-vampire and… "Purifying Flare burst!" Cast a high end faith spell.

From the High Priestess's hand spawned forth a sparking flare, sent hurtling directly towards an unsuspecting target. Once the spell made contact with the intended ghoulish-vampire, it burst into white flames and…

"RAHHHH! IT BURNS! IT HURTS!" The ghoulish-vampire screamed in agony.

The flames burned for about 5 seconds before the spell stopped working. The ghoulish-vampire while, not dead… again, it wasn't in the greatest of shapes.

"You damn women think you're so great just because you can use your goddess' magic… Wait, your power should be gone… How is it that you can still cast?" The vampire grumbled, unable to understand the situation.

Vitaliana, shot off like a bolt of lightning, her target was clear. It was the Vampire.

"Hmph! A frontal attack, pathetic. Magic shield." The vampire said, clicking his tongue, feeling as though he was underestimated.

Vitaliana flew seemingly right through the shield making a deep impact on the vampire's torso. The force of the impact could be seen from behind. His body had deformed a great deal. Though Vitaliana didn't manage to break through, the damage was clearly worrisome to the vampire.

"WHAT! HOW? YOU'RE JUST A NEWBORN CHICK! BARELY ENOUGH MEAT ON YOU TO CALL A SNACK!" The Vampire shouted once again.

"You don't need to know. But… How dare you! I'm a feast for the eyes, just look at me, aren't I beautiful?" Vitaliana taunted. "Though, I wouldn't want someone like you liking me at all. You reek a foul smell. I bet you weren't popular with the ladies in life." She continued.

"Big talk coming from something made of foul. You're the only one that smells of blood and guts." The Vampire said with a stern serious expression. "I do wonder though, how does the blood of a false goddess' child taste…" He added, licking his lips and showing his fangs.

"Ralond, this might take me a minute. Hold the others back as best you can. I'll come help after." Vitaliana said, as her personal feelings finally reached and surpassed her patience.
