"You should worry about yourself now. At least that's what I would do in your shoes… Not that I'd be dumb enough to bow to a shitty false god." Vitaliana smirked, well, as much as her beak would allow her to do so.
"You're still underestimating me. I'm going to eat you first. Then I'm going to massacre the people inside. I'll gorge myself on the children that remain. Oh I bet they are filled with flavor." The Vampire snickered.
A battle in the air began. Vitaliana and the Vampire chasing each other. The Vampire would use spells from a distance to attack Vitaliana. Guiding her to fly right towards him. Then at close range he would try to grapple Vitaliana. Though Vitaliana was simply put, far too slippery for him.
"Damn it! Stay still and let me eat you already!" The Vampire yelled angrily.
"Oh stop it, I'd be horrible for your diet. And, why would the strong surrender to the weak?" Vitaliana giggled. This idiot is basically nothing but a skill point farm for me. And… I can't seem to move properly either. What's wrong with me?
"You tiny pathetic lower-lifeform… HOW DARE YOU UNDERESTIMATE ME!" The vampire screeched loudly. Causing a stir in the air, a reverberation of sorts.
Fernia, who had stopped her original goal, watched from afar. Should I get involved? That disgusting thing is pretty strong. I know my little sister is strong… But can she beat something like that on her own?
"Don't worry Fernia, Vitaliana is strong enough. Just protect the area from stray bolts. As they are about to start flying everywhere." Eternia spoke into Fernia's mind, having sensed the worry in her daughter's heart.
"As you mother, I'll do as you say. By the way mother, how many more of these rotten souls do you need?"
"Oh, I'm sure I'll hit the quota soon. Don't worry about it too much. They are more of a supplemental energy than a necessary one. But, I do feel like I should eat them all up. The sins they committed, even if only from temptation, are too steep to forgive with an endless number of reincarnations."
"I agree, but, mother, aren't you being too merciful on their souls?"
"Oh no, they go through a fair amount of suffering before finally disappearing, becoming pure energy. I can't let them off without punishment."
"Good, can you…"
"Don't worry my dear, I've already memorized their screams. I'll share the sweet sounds with you later."
"Yes, I'm sure we'll all love to hear them. Oh, how are the other places holding up?"
"I have my power channeled through the altars of my faithful. They'll be safe until Vitaliana brings them out."
"That's good, I quite like those girls. They would occasionally bring us some of the juiciest fruits and tastiest nuts. Delicious… So should I tell my little sister what's happening to her?" Fernia asked, changing the topic.
"Uhm, I don't think so. She isn't in any danger. And I want to see how my little girl handles this. Aren't you curious too? Vitaliana has the soul of a human High Magus. The youngest one in their history too. Surely she'll put that brain of hers to good use. Aren't you curious?"
"I am, mother. I stopped pursuing the enemy to watch this. Not like they can leave the city anyway."
"True, but don't let your guard down, I've confirmed that the Vampire in charge here is definitely a noble one. They hide their power well, but I doubt they could beat any of you 5. But you're the weakest and have an elemental neutrality with them, so be careful. Alright, It looks like it's getting good."
The fighting had been taking a bit longer than Vitaliana wanted. She sensed that the ghoulish-vampires below were slowly being killed off. The key word though, was slowly.
Stamina is going to become an issue very soon. Humans with very little training can hardly be counted on for much of anything. So it's clearly mother's power that has been keeping them in the fight.
Moreover, I can't seem to move my body right. Like I'm being resisted… No, that's not it… Am I the one that's resisting?
A blood bullet charged its way towards Vitaliana, followed by several dozen more.
No time to think about it. I have to dodge.
Vitaliana dodged, in a helix spiral. Though she was fast, one of the blood bullets grazed her tiny body.
AH! Fuck that hurt. Why is my body not responding properly! Know what… FINE!
"Awe, is the little birdy tired? Running out of stamina?" The vampire taunted laughing maniacally. "Where did your confidence go?" He sneered, continuing to fire his blood bullets.
This is really annoying… Regeneration!
Vitaliana glowed a slight tinge of green as she flew around dodging the bullets as she attempted to close the distance.
"You see this, you pathetic humans? You're savior, the last remnants of that detestable goddess, heh, I've got her on the ropes. And once I do… I'm coming for you." The vampire snickered.
"SHUT YOUR DEAD MOUTH!" Ralond shouted out once again. "You're the idiot here if you think you've got the young lady on the ropes… NO ONE IN OUR GODDESS' FAMILY WILL EVER FAIL TO DEFEAT SUCH A PATHETIC OPPONENT!" He continued shouting. "Young Lady, don't worry about us. If it comes to it… I'll burn everything. Trust in us, we won't go down without gritting our teeth and bearing all. True to the teaching of her Divine Majesty!" He finished speaking as he managed to kill one ghoulish-vampire on his own, with a quickly and smoothly executed strike.
"I've done a dis-service to you. Focus on your fight. This won't take much longer. I think… I know what's going on with my body. Once it's done… Heh, I'll send these fools back to roam the dead… Well, maybe. We will see what their real fate will be." Vitaliana said with a new glint in her eyes.
Vitaliana, having been struggling against what she wanted to do and what her body was trying to do. She now stopped fighting it. At that moment she began glowing, radiating a warm breath of life. Her future form having been realized by her namesake, her aura filled with the might of life.
