Chapter 22
the demon kin, descendants of kayin the kin slayer. their origins according to Frankeen are sketchy at best, been the oldest of the accursed ones. all that is known about them by the dark order is their progenitor, the kin slayer. there are no records of his life before and after his curse, how he came to be and how long he lived, no records of his death either. it's like he just existed during his life while at the same time not existing. the dark order knows not if he had a wife at some point or just simply had an affair, but what they do know for sure is that while he was actively an accursed one he must have spawned offsprings into the world, which would be the only viable explanation for the continued existence of the demon kins. well now I'm confused, are the demon kin and the accursed ones the same or are they different from each. Yes he says, there are a plethora of unsightly beasts and monsters that spawn from a curse, but there are only two main targets of the dark order that take priority over the others, the werewolves and the demon kin. the demon kin being descendants of the kin slayer and the werewolves being descendants of king Nebuchadnezzar of the arrogant throne, accursed ones being a general name used to identify all the blasphemous creatures that walk upon God's earth. now I'm starting to understand my lineage Even though it's only a bit, I'm still confused about how they plan on extermination the entirety of the accursed ones at once. Frankeen tells me that there is a spell as well as chant in the dark arts that will grant them the ability to weed out the accursed ones and that the dark order has been acquiring and collecting certain relics of past kingdoms and nations as well as artifacts with magical properties all to make their agenda a reality and to bring their plan to fruition. I don't know much about the dark arts but I know that the dark in it's name means bad news, whoever is responsible for what's happening at the village is also utilizing it's magic properties for reasons unknown, could it be that they are either in cahoots with whoever that is or they are involved with it directly. though if I'm correct about them being involved then I can't let them know that I'm more aware of their plans than they realize, I should try and see if I can extract more information from them in the time being.
" I understand that your organization has been around for quite a few centuries, but you speak of certain operations centuries old like you were there " I ask
" yes, our organization has been around for quite some time and yes we are quite old, at least some of us " he replies
not all of them but apparently a good chunk of the are nigh immortal, and he also explains that their organization has much more members than the twelve of them present. they boast an incredible 1834 man strong organization. wow, that's alot of people to have under one banner, to think that many people really want to rid the world of accursed ones. one of the other dark order members walks up to him and tells him to stop talking as he has said too much already, citing that there is no need for me to know all this information since I would perish soon for their cause. he says that they are to move me to a different location soon, I assume the location he means is the one where they will Carry out their plans. he says they can no longer continue their operations in the capital as there are too many eyes on the capital at the moment which could impede the progress of their plans. I believe he means the knights of the jaded ones and the oak killers knights order, I would run the opposite direction if I were in their shoes as well. but that tells me they're not that all powerful, there are people they are scared of.
I ask that they introduce themselves as I would like to know each of them, they don't seem to have a problem with it but they don't want to hang around while he talks to me about each of them. they leave just me, Frankeen and one other member, the fact that they're comfortable with leaving me with just him and another member tells me that they either feel I cannot escape with the members currently here or that I can't escape this place altogether. I ask that he start with how their organization works and each of the roles they play, he agrees to. which I'm shocked that he is this lenient, I mean for a group that kidnapped me and are adamant on commiting partial genocide and all. the organization is made up of four levels of authority or leadership, as he mentions that they are not all equal in the dark order and everybody has a role to play. there is the head of operations the Oculus, then there are the dark hands his subordinates, then the field operatives and last but not least a level he likes to call fodder.
" who is the head of operations? " I ask
" I cannot answer that question " he replies
" cannot answer because you don't know "
" I do not know, none of us do, only Tyr, the index of the dark hand knows "
he says that only the index of the dark hand of the order knows who the head of operations is and that he is not permitted to tell anyone, even hypnosis would not work nor any form of persuasion magic. now that he tells me that I want to know more and more , who is he, where does he come from, what does he look like, how strong is he. all these questions puzzle my mind.
