Chapter 19
" get them out of the cells, it's time they get their punishment " says a guard. they pull me and cept from our cells and shackle us to each other along with a few others, the guard says we're criminals until proven otherwise by the council members. I don't think they all work for the yokko's, and frankly that's a good thing. they start to walk us towards the council chamber to get judged, like we're some war criminals or something. they want to take us through a secret route or tunnel, which is something they usually do to prevent the criminals from escaping through outside help. as we enter the tunnel cept tells me to be on guard and to keep our eyes peeled as the yokko spies could attempt to do the deed here while vision is impeded and escape is less likely. we enter the tunnel and the lights suddenly go out, the guards are in disarray and confused not knowing what is happening. the prisoners are all trying to take advantage of the situation and escape, the guards are focused on trying to subdue them so there's a small battle going on right now. cept yells that I get down and stay low so, then a guard or what I assume is a spy comes up to me with a knife in hand and tries to stab me with it but cept tackles him before any harm can be done. while he pins the guard to the ground he feels some keys on the guard and calls for me to help him, I quickly get up and rush over to him and I kick the guard in the head knocking him out. cept grabs the keys and we free ourselves and make our escape, as we run some other guards notice but can't give us chase while subduing the other criminals, so one of them takes out his trumpet and blows it as loud as he can. I'm pretty sure everyone in the district heard it, all the guards in the area know what they heard and are going to be on full alert mode now. me and cept have to find a way to make it back to the motel without being caught. we run out of the tunnel and there are already some guards blocking the way out, cept tells me that going back would mean our capture and going forward would equally mean the same thing, but I tell him that we have no other option than to charge forward. as we charge towards them that's when I notice one of the guards is a lot bigger than the others, he's around eight or ten feet, roughly my height but taller. I try to avoid him as cept takes him on, somehow I just know that guy is not someone I can just kick in the head and be done with it. a few of them rush me at once but this time I'm prepared mentally, I run a few mental simulations about kicking their butts and I actually kick their butts. then I look over to where cept is and I see this big guy just towering over his unconscious body. he looks over to me with a grin on his face as he walks towards me, I knew he was bad news from the moment I laid eyes on him but to knock cept out so quickly. cept isn't just some lame as guy you can beat up, especially by one person. there's a reason he was amoung the villages hunting party. he reaches me and just stands still, doing nothing but staring at me dead in the eyes, it shakes me a little bit but I stand my ground and get ready for this walking tank of a man.
and this guy just laughs at me, I mean who does that, take this seriously man.
" what are you doing little girl ? " he says
" I'm getting ready to fight you "
" ha ha ha ha , fight me you say, even your friend couldn't escape
me, what makes you think you'd be any different ? "
" don't underestimate me, I'm pretty tough " I reply him
I guess I shouldn't have done that, because it seemed he was looking for an excuse to beat me up. I rushes me before I can even do a thing and the first punch he throws he throws straight for my stomach, I instantly cough up blood and I think I accidentally let one out the back end. I fall to the ground while holding onto my stomach, with the amount of blood I coughed up it's not a hard guess to say that he definitely broke something in my body, bones and organs alike. I thought you were tough he says as if mocking me, I try to stand back up but he giggles and then knocks me back to the ground. picks me up by my hair and hits me in the face till he gives me a double black eye, then slams me face first into the ground. I cry so hard cause it's clear this guy wants nothing more that to kill me, he's probably one the yokko family's thugs, but I don't see any tattoos on his neck. he just stands next to me, watching me while I writhe in pain, like he derives joy from doing stuff like this to people. then I ask if he was sent by the yokko family to end me, he laughs telling me " those clowns couldn't afford my services " which sends chills down my spine. I try to ask him who then sent him if not them, but my mouth won't let the words out, I'm too beaten up and my body just wants to rest. I start to black out, but before I lose consciousness, someone else In a tattered cloak walks towards me and they begin to talk
" is it her, is she the one they wanted ? " says the big guy
" yes, it's her, it's the Demon Kin, the order will be pleased " the stranger replies. those are the last words I hear before I pass out.
