Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: I Am My Own Greatest Weakness

Lin gasped as he had a profound realization. The greatest weakness of the skeleton army centered around him was himself. If a powerful enemy chose to bypass the skeleton warriors and continuously attacked him instead, he would also be in danger. Damage transfer wasn't invincible.

Understanding his weakness, Lin naturally thought of ways to compensate. The Goblin King was a mess of wounds, bleeding like rain. Despite its towering height of six to seven meters, skeleton warriors clung to its shoulders, back, chest, and even its head. Emitting dazzling light, the Goblin King leaped and crashed heavily onto the ground, causing a booming sound that sent all the skeleton warriors flying and even pushed back those on the ground with its skill: Repulsion!

Then, with a glow in its eyes and a wide-open mouth, it unleashed a torrent of fire, scorching the skeleton warriors. Lin felt the life force of four skeleton warriors rapidly diminishing, on the verge of death. With a thought, he immediately recalled them to the summoning space, preventing them from being consumed by the Goblin King's flames, which continued to prevent the skeleton warriors from approaching. "We must interrupt his skill," Lin determined, conjuring a flame in his palm. "Soul Flame!" The silent flame landed on the Goblin King's head, causing it to emit a sky-shattering scream as its flame attack was abruptly interrupted. Soul Flame, ignoring defense and inflicting mental damage, grew formidable with Lin's amplified skill level and spiritual strength.

The skeleton warriors quickly surrounded and relentlessly attacked the Goblin King again, while Lin continued to disrupt its ability to use skills with Soul Flame. A minute later, the Goblin King fell to the ground with a thud, overcome with unwillingness.

"Killing the Goblin King, experience +40000." Lin received rewards: a bronze dagger, a robe of knowledge, and the Goblin King's crystal core. Upgrading in the process, Lin reached level 12. Clearing a nightmare-level dungeon solo in just over an hour, the efficiency was astounding. Lin examined his gains; although the dagger was of no use to him, it could be sold. He mused that as a necromancer, part of the mage class, the robe might not significantly impact his cooldown-less skills but appreciated the added stats.

With his level up, his spiritual energy fully restored, Lin summoned four more skeleton warriors, increasing his force to 60. Content with his expedition, he walked towards the dungeon exit, emerging to the attention of those around, primarily due to his unique and terrifying skeleton warriors.

Ignoring the surrounding murmurs and discussions about his solo dungeon run, Lin considered his cooldown period. With no interest in grinding lesser monsters after experiencing the dungeon's efficiency, he decided to meditate, recover his spiritual energy, and reflect on his journey. This expedition highlighted his weaknesses and the potential of his skills like Corpse Explosion and Soul Flame, reshaping his understanding of combat and strategy. Lin settled down, guarded by a loyal skeleton warrior, deep in thought about his next steps.
